Objective To study the effects of Wenyang Huoxue fang on patients with acute coronary syndrome in clinical presentation,inflammatory reactions,plasmin/plasminogen activators,endothelial cell injurys.Method Eighty cases of acute coronary syndrome were divided into treatment group and control group randomly,40 cases for each group.Both groups were treated with standard management(vasodilaters,cholesterol-lowering,antiplatelet) and the treatment group was given Wenyang Huoxue fang additionally for four weeks.TCM symptoms,effect of angina,TXB2,6-K-PGF,t-PA,PAI,IL-2,IL-6 were observed before and after treatment.Result Effective rate of angina in treatment group and control group was 80% and 65% respectively(P

OBJECTIVETo compare the effectiveness and safety of transurethral resection of the prostate (TURP) and transurethral enucleative resection of the prostate (TUERP) in the treatment of benign prostate hyperplasia (BPH).

METHODSA total of 630 BPH patients with indication of surgery were randomly assigned to receive TURP (n = 305) and TUERP (n = 325), respectively. There were no significant differences preoperatively in age, prostate volume, International Prostate Symptom Score (IPSS), and Qmax between the two groups (P > 0.05). The prostate resection rate, operation time, postoperative complications, and quality of life (QOL) of the patients were recorded and statistically analyzed.

RESULTSCompared with TURP, TUERP showed a significantly higher rate of prostate resection ([47.0 +/- 13.3] vs [60.1 +/- 12.3]%, P < 0.05), shorter operation time ([57.9 +/- 15.9] vs [40.4 +/- 14.2] min, P < 0.05), and shorter bladder irrigation time ([2.7 +/- 0.6] vs [2.2 + 1.1] d, P < 0.05). Significant differences were found between the pre- and post-operative levels of serum sodium and hemoglobin in the TURP group ([141.2 +/- 3.5 ] vs [136.9 +/- 4.7] mmol/L, P < 0.01; [137.6 +/- 8.8] vs [124.8 +/- 9.6] g/L, P < 0.01), but not in the TUERP group. Three months after operation, IPSS, QOL, and Qmax were all markedly improved in both groups (P < 0.01), but with no significant differences between the two groups (P >0.05).

CONCLUSIONTUERP is better than TURP in the treatment of BPH for its advantages of higher resection rate of the prostate, shorter operation time and bladder irrigation time, less intraoperative blood loss, fewer postoperative complications, and faster recovery.

Objective To investigate the effects of catheter balloon dilatation on patients with dysphagia caused by neurogenic cricopharyngeal achalasia.Methods Thirty-two patients with dysphagia caused by neurogenic cricopharyngeal achalasia were divided randomly into a treatment group (n =16) and a control group (n =16).The treatment group received catheter balloon dilatation therapy and routine dysphagia rehabilitation training; the control group was treated with routine dysphagia rehabilitation training only.Both groups were tested before treatment,after 3 weeks of treatment (after treatment) and at 6 months after treatment (follow-up).All cases were evaluated using Saitoh's 7-grade swallowing assessment and videofluoroscopy.Results After treatment,5 cases in the treatment group had been cured (31％) and 8 cases showed marked effectiveness (50％) ; in the control group,1 case was cured (7％) and 5 cases showed marked effectiveness (31％).These differences were statistically significant.At follow-up,5 cases in the treatment group had been cured (31％) and 9 cases showed marked effectiveness (56％) ; for the control group,1 case was cured (7％) and 6 cased showed marked effectiveness (38％).Those differences were also statistically significant.After treatment and also at follow-up,the average time for a bolus to pass the pharynx in the treatment group was significantly shorter than that in the control group.Conclusion Catheter balloon dilatation therapy is effective for treating neurogenic cricopharyngeal achalasia in both the short and long term.

Objective To investigate the early effect of extracorporeal shockwave(ESW) treatment on distraction osteogenesis of rabbit tibias and its mechanism. Methods 30 adult New Zealand white rabbits were used. After osteotomy of left tibias, improved Orthofix M- 100 bone fixator was applied. After 5 days, bone lengthening of 1 cm was obtained over 10 days. Randomly the animals were divided into ESW and control groups. No ESW treatment was given to the control group. The shock wave was set at 0.54 mJ/mm2 and 1000 shots each time were applied to the central areas in the ESW group. Then the animals were divided into 3 sub- groups, and were killed respectively at 45, 60 and 75 days after osteotomy. During the process, X- ray, bone mineral density (BMD) and histological examinations were conducted for every animal. Object To observe the effects of rehmaionoside A on mice leukopenia models induced by cyclophosphamide. Methods Mice leukopenia models were prepared by ip cyclophosphamide and then treated with rehmaionoside A. The levels of body weight, peripheral hemogram, reticulocyte count, spleen index, bone marrow karyocyte count and contents of bone marrow DNA were determined. Results Rehmaionoside A could obviously raise the counts of white blood cell, red blood cell, platelet, reticulocyte and bone marrow karyocyte, contents of bone marrow DNA, and body weight of the leukopenia model. Conclusion Rehmaionoside A has apparent leukogenic and antianemic actions.

Objective To investigate the screening state and cause of neonatal congenital hypothyroidism(CH) in Henan province.Me-thods Three hundred and thirty-eight thousands no-choice newborns in the 156 hospitals in Henan province from Jan.1998 to Dec.2004 were received screening.The heel peripheral blood samples were taken and the levels of thyroid-stimulating hormone(TSH) were mea-sured by time-resolved fluoroimmunoassay.Positive newborns were recalled and draw out 2 mL venous blood.The levels of TSH,triiodothyronine(T3) and thyroxine(T4) in serum were detected by direct chemiluminescence.The abnormal criterion was that the level of T3,T4 was under the normal range and the level of TSH was above the normal range.Meanwhile their growth and development,intelligence quotient,related medical examination and family histories were investigated in order to find etiological factors and high risk factors.Results The average coverage rate was 5.93% of neonatal screening for CH in Henan province.One hundrend and nine infants were diagnosed CH.The attack rate was about 0.032%.The site and growth of thyroideas of 109 cases with CH were all normal.There were higher morbidity for pregnant women with unhealthy condition or the families with hypertension,diabetes,deformity or dysnoesia.Conclusions Etiology of newborns with CH in Henan province may be not relate with congenital absence and dystopia of thyroidea,but relate with dyssynthesis and receptor deficiency of hormone.And scientific reference is offered for the further study.
