OBJECTIVE: To study the preventive effect of Breviscapus Injection on the chronic hypoxic myocardium injury in rats and its mechanism. METHODS: Transmission electron microscope and biochemical analysis were used to assay the therapeutic effect of Breviscapus Injection in rat model induced by 4 week's hypoxia. RESULTS: The contents of malondialdehyde (MDA) and Ca(2+) in the homogenate of myocardial tissue of the hypoxic rats were significantly higher than those of the control rats. The activities of superoxide dismutase (SOD), nitric oxide synthase (NOS) in the homogenate of myocardial tissue and the plasmic NO levels of the hypoxic rats were significantly lower than those of the control rats. Breviscapus Injection reduced the contents of MDA and Ca(2+), and increased the levels of SOD, NOS and NO. Ultrastructural examination revealed that the injuries of the ultrastructure of heart in hypoxic rats were improved by treatment with Breviscapus Injection. CONCLUSION: Breviscapus Injection can effectively prevent and treat the hypoxia-induced myocardial damage. One of its mechanisms may relate to its adjusting NO level, anti-damaging of free radicals and inhibiting calcium overload.

Objective To explore the invading mechanism of amebae in lamina porpria and observe the interaction between the cysteine proteinase (CP) of Entamoeba histolytica and laminin. Methods CP was identified by laminin-sepharose affinity chromatography, followed by isolation, purification and inhibitor experiment. The hydrolytic activity was measured by gelatin electrophoresis. Results Purified CP of E.histolytica showed a strong affinity with laminin. The molecular weight of CP is 27 kDa. It can be inhibited by EC-64 and exhibited a protein hydrolytic activity. Conclusion The specific affinity and hydrolytic activity of CP might play an important role in its invasion to the basement membrane of intestinal mucosa.

OBJECTIVETo evaluate the effects of different polishing methods on surface roughness of pure titanium castings.

METHODS35 pure titanium castings were devided into 7 groups, used for control, mechanic polishing and electrolytic polishing, respectively. Surface roughness (Ra value) of each castings was measured with a profilometer. Surface microstructure was studied by a scaning electron microscopy, and the weight loss (Wt%) and height loss on unit area (H) before and after polishing was calculated.

RESULTSThe effects of mechanic polishing with aluminium oxide or chromium oxide were acceptable. Surface smoothness was improved with acid treatment followed by electrolytic polishing.

CONCLUSIONAluminium oxide and chromium oxide can be used in mechanic polishing of pure titanium castings, and improvement should be made on electrolytic polishing methods.

?AlM: To evaluate the clinical effects of excimer laser phototherapeutic keratectomy ( PTK) assisted by anterior segment optical coherence tomography ( OCT ) in the treatment of corneal anterior diseases.
?METHODS:There were 28 eyes of 15 patients who were diagnosed as corneal anterior diseases, on which excimer laser phototherapeutic keratectomy was performed from September 2012 to September 2013. The patients were checked up by anterior segment OCT before operation forauxiliarily judging types and depths of the disease to direct setting parameters such as cutting depths and diameters etc. in PTK. Follow-up of 6mo were included in this study. They were observed cornea condition, uncorrected visual acuity, spherical equivalent and haze at 6, 15d, and 1, 2, 3 and 6mo post-operatively.
?RESULTS: At postoperation, corneal condition of all patients were impoved more or less, that is, the outbreak was under control, or seizure frequency decreased obviously. There were no statistic differences between preoperation and postoperation on the changes of uncorrected visual acuity, spherical equivalent and haze (P>0. 05).
? CONCLUSlON: ln patients with corneal anterior diseases, excimer laser phototherapeutic keratectomy assisted by anterior segment OCT in the treatment of corneal anterior diseases can get rid of the lesion effectively and accurately and receive better treatment effect. But it is necessary to control the cutting depth avoiding postoperative hyperopia.

ive] To observe the effects of Shengjiang Capsule (SC) on gastric evacuation and to study its mechanism. [Methods] Eight-week-old SD rats were randomly allocated to five groups. Group A served as normal control, and Group B were treated with high dosage of SC, Group C with low dosage of SC, Group D with Zhike Baizhu Decotion and Group E with cisapride. After ten days of treatment, gas tric evacuation of rats was detected by isotope tracing method, erythrocyte-acetycholinesterase activity by micro-hydroxylamine method and plasma motilin (Mot) and somatostatin (SS) levels by radioimmunoas-say. [Results] Thirty-minute gastric evacuation rate was (51.44?.38)%, (40.82 + 7.24)% and (40.22?.16)% in Group B, Group C and Group D respectively, which was higher than that in Group A [ (33.18?.32)%]. Erythrocyte-acetycholinesterase activity, Mot and SS levels were (0.856?.128) umol/h, (124.26?5.94) ng/L and (39.42?.96) ng/L, and (0.726?.164 ) umol/h, (119.86 ?9.38) ng/L and (38.33 ?.64) ng/L in Group B and Group C respectively, which were higher than those in Group A [ (0.576 ?.150)/umol/h, (91.28 + 26.84) ng/L and (28.22 ?7.68)ng/L]. [Conclusion] SC can promote gastric evacuation, and its mechanism may be re lated to the increase of the cholinergic nerve function and plasma Mot and SS levels.

OBJECTIVETo evaluate the clinical effects of iliolumbar fixation for the sacrum fractures of Denis type II.

METHODSThe clinical data of 86 patients with sacrum fracture of Denis type II treated by iliolumbar fixation from January 2008 to January 2012 were retrospectively analyzed. There were 55 males and 31 females, aged from 17 to 55 years old with an average of 39.1 years. Among them, 73 cases complicated with pelvis fracture and 13 cases with acetabular fracture; 37 cases with sacral neurological symptoms and 49 cases without sacral neurological symptoms. Fracture healing time, nerve function, clinical function and complications were observed in the patients.

RESULTSIn 86 cases, 6 cases were out of followed-up and 80 cases were followed up from 24 to 71 months with an average of 36 months. The mean fracture healing time was 13 weeks (ranged, 10 to 38 weeks). According to Gibbons scoring to evaluate the neurological function, preoperative nerve rehabilitation, lower limbs feeling, lower limbs activity,bladder and rectum function,total score respectively were 0.62 +/- 0.04, 1.54 +/- 0.35, 1.12 +/- 0.18, 0.23 +/- 0.01, 3.46 +/- 0.47 and postoperative respectively were 0.82 +/- 0.12, 0.36 +/- 0.04, 0.05 +/- 0.01, 0.03 +/- 0.01, 1.25 +/- 0.22, there were statistically significant differences between preoperative and postoperative (P < 0.05). According to Majeed scoring to evaluate the clinical function, postoperative pain, standing, sitting, sexual life, work ability, total score respectively were 22.54 +/- 4.02, 27.93 +/- 5.46, 8.47 +/- 3.61, 2.54 +/- 1.33, 16.46 +/- 4.34, 81.32 +/- 8.73, 60 cases got excellent results, 17 good, 3 fair. The main complications including fracture nonunion of 5 cases,deep incision infection of 1 case, and screw prominence resulting uncomfortable of 8 cases.

CONCLUSIONIliolumbar fixation has the advantages of stable fixation, satisfactory functional rehabilitation, less complications, and is a good method in treating sacrum fracture of Denis type II.

Objective To find out the status of iodine nutrition and the goiter of population in Zhejiang Province after adjustment of salt iodine concentration.Methods From April to June 2013,the probability proportionate to size sampling method was applied in 31 countries in Zhejiang Province to select 1 650 school-age children aged 8-10 to examine thyroid by B ultrasound,to collect urine and salt samples,and to test the iodine level using the colorimetric titration method and the spectrophotometer method.Six hundred and twenty pregnant women were selected to collect urine samples and urinary iodine was tested by the spectrophotometer method.Results The coverage rate of iodized salt and the consumption rate of qualified iodized salt in Zhejiang Province after adjustment of salt iodine concentration were 93.20％ (1 521/1 632) and 89.71％ (1 464/1 632),respectively;and the medians urinary iodine in children and pregnant women were 178.40 μg/L and 127.23 μg/L,respectively;and the goiter and median thyroid volume were 5.27％ (87/1 650) and 3.45 ml,respectively;the P97 thyroid volume of children in Zhejiang Province in the 8,9 and 10 years old groups (4.76,5.29,6.36 ml) were higher than those (4.5,5.0,6.0 ml) in the thyroid volume reference (WS 276-2007);and the correlations between thyroid volume,goiter and urinary iodine were not found.Conclusions After adjustment of salt iodine concentration,the status of iodine nutrition in Zhejiang Province in general is down to optimum level,which indicates that it is appropriate for this adjustment,but the level of iodine nutrition in pregnant women is less than appropriate,which should be pay attention to.

Objective To analyze the association of postnatal weight gain proportion of very low birth weight (BW) preterm babies and the onset of severe retinopathy of prematurity,and investigate the optimal cut-off points and predictive ability of postnatal weight gain (WG) proportion for the onset of retinopathy of prematurity (ROP).Methods A retrospective cohort study.257 preterm infants underwent screening whose weight was less than 1500 g were enrolled in this study.Risk factors include BW,gestational age (GA),history of oxygen inhalation,need for blood transfusions,Apgar score in 1 to 10 minutes,embryo number,delivery mode,in vitro fertilization infants,and WG proportion within 6 weeks after birth and other systemic diseases were recorded.Their correlation with severe ROP is analyzed.Clinical outcomes were divided into severe ROP group (patients who suffered from ROP and required treatment) and mild and no ROP group (patients who suffered from ROP but do not require treatment and-patient without ROP).The severe ROP group included 18 patients and mild and no ROP group included 239 patients.Multiple logistic regression and receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve were used to determine if the WG proportion was independently related to severe ROP development and if it was capable of predicting severe ROP.This study determines the predict value by comparing the area under the ROC curve (AUC) of independent risk factors.Results GA (t=-4.835,P＜0.001),BW(t=-5.192,P＜0.001),history of oxygen inhalation (x2=6.001,P=0.009),proportion of infants who had oxygen inhalation for more than 10 days(x2 =10.019,P=0.002),postnatal WG proportion at 1 week(t =-3.663,P＜ 0.001),postnatal WG proportion at 2 weeks(t=-3.425,P=0.001) had significant difference between two groups.Multiple logistic regression analysis revealed that GA (β =-0.858,P =0.008),BW (β =-0.005,P =0.010),postnatal WG proportion at 2 weeks (β=-8.745,P =0.035) were correlated to severe ROP significantly.And their area under the ROC were 0.836[95％ confidence interval (CI):0.752-0.920],0.826 (95％CI:0.947-0.903),0.744 (95％CI:0.598-0.891) respectively.The optimal cut-off points of GA,BW,and postnatal WG proportion at 2 weeks were 28.41 weeks,1241.96 g,12.80％ respectively.Conclusion Low WG proportion at 2 weeks of very low BW preterm babies is an important and independent risk factor for severe ROP and has certain predictive value of the onset of severe ROP.

Objective To set up the reference ranges of thyroid hormones for pregnant and lactating woman in Zhejiang.Methods A total of 338 pregnancy,322 lactating women and 139 non-pregnant women (as a control) were selected from 1 079 women in 13 survey sites of Zhejiang as survey subjects,through the questionnaire survey and thyroid B-ultrasound tests from June 2010 to September 2010.The level of urinary iodine was measured by spectrophotometer,and the thyroid hormone [free triiodothyronine (FT3),free (unbound) thyroxin (FT4),triiodothyronine (T3),tetraiodothyronine (T4),thyroid stimulating hormone (TSH)] was measured by automated chemiluminescence immunoassay.Analysis of thyroid hormone 95％ in pregnant women and lactating women.Results The median urinary iodine of all women investigated were in optimal urine levels (150-249 μg/L),which indicated they were in iodine sufficient status.The FT3 index of lactating women was higher than that of pregnant women and non pregnant women (Zlactating-pregnant =3.98,Zlactating-pregnant =2.46,all P ＜ 0.05);the FT4 index level of lactating women was higher than that of pregnant women and non pregnant women (Zlactating-pregnant =2.68,Zlactating-non-pregnant =2.25,all P ＜ 0.05);the T3 index level of lactating women was higher than that of pregnant women and non pregnant women (Zlactating-pregnant =3.51,Zlactating-non pregnant =2.41,all P ＜ 0.05);levels of T4 in lactating women was the highest (Zlactating-pregnant =2.30,Zlactating-pregnant =4.90,Zlactating-non pregnant =1.57,all P ＜ 0.05);TSH index of lactating women and non pregnant women were higher than that of pregnant women (Zlactating-pregnant =2.81,Zlactating-non pregnant =1.68,all P ＜ 0.05).And in pregnant,the 95％ medical reference interval of FT3 was 3.37-6.53 pmol/L,FT4 was 10.68-20.85 pmol/L,T3 was 1.40-2.79 nmol/L,T4 was 72.72-166.41 nmol/L,and TSH was 0.15-4.44 mU/L;in lactating woman,FT3 was 3.39-6.44 pmol/L,FT4 was 10.81-20.33 pmol/L,T3 was 1.44-2.77 nmol/L,T4 was 71.94-164.61 nmol/L,and TSH was 0.25-4.47 mU/L.Conclusion The thyroid hormone levels of pregnant and lactating women are different from those of non-pregnant women,therefore establishing reference data of thyroid hormones for pregnant and lactating women may be a very important step for clinical practice.
