BACKGROUND:The use of three-dimensional cel culture techniques can better simulate the cel ular microenvironment, providing new tools for tissue engineering research.
OBJECTIVE:To analyze the biomaterial selection and application characteristics in three-dimensional cel culture as wel as applications in tumor tissue engineering.
METHODS:We searched Wanfang database and PubMed database 1998-2015 years for relevant literature using keywords of“three-dimensional cultures;scaffold;cel growth;cel differentiation;tumor tissue engineering”in Chinese and English, respectively.
RESULTS AND CONCLUSION:The selection and application of three-dimensional scaffold materials is one of the keys. So far, scaffold materials, such as col agen gels, gelatin sponge, agarose, chitosan, demineralized bone matrix, cannot provide the extracel ular matrix similar to the micro-environment in which seed cel growth and proliferation are not affected, and the ability to secrete type II col agen and glycosaminoglycan is decreased, although they can provide three-dimensional space for seed cel s. Biomimetic scaffold characterized as little trauma and strong plasticity gradual y shows its unique advantages. Three-dimensional culture conditions raise pro-angiogenic growth factor secretion from tumor cel s, and this feature is positively correlated with the occurrence of in vivo tumor angiogenesis.

Objective To study epidemic of schistosomiasis in the Qiandao Lake reservoir area, and to provide a reference for prevention and control of schistosomiasis in the construction of large water conservancy projects in the epidemic area of schistosomiasis. Methods The data over the years of snail condition and monitoring of schistosomiasis before and after building the dam,and water conservancy project reconstruction related information were collected.Based on the survey results of the river channel, the lake beach and the dissipation zone in the reservoir area, the influence of Xin'an River water conservancy project on epidemic of schistosomiasis in the Qiandao Lake reservoir area was analyzed, and the epidemic factors of the schistosomiasis in the Three Gorges reservoir were compared and analyzed. Results Before the dam was built,an area of 38 144 000 m2 was examined but Oncomelania was undetected. The Qiandao Lake reservoir area belonged to a non epidemic area of schistosomiasis. After the dam was built,557 cases of schistosomiasis were found in 6 232 immigrants during 1962-1965,resulting in an imported epidemic. In 1970-1980,an area of 379 654 m2 in which Oncomelania was found was examined and snails were mainly distributed in some rice fields and ditches in the end of the reservoir.949 cases of local schistosomiasis were found in the snails. The condition and condition of the snail are gradually controlled through several decades of comprehensive prevention and control.Compared with the epidemic factors of schistosomiasis in Qiandao Lake and the Three Gorges reservoir, the environment of elevation beach and ecologically fragile fluctuation zone coexist in the two reservoir areas. Conclusion From the long-term longitudinal monitoring data of the Qiandao Lake reservoir area and the epidemic regularity of schistosomiasis and the comparison with the ecology of the Three Gorges reservoir,it is concluded that the two reservoir areas will not cause a large range of schistosomiasis epidemic in general, but it does not exclude the possibility of the breeding of the inputting Oncomelania.

Journal of Southern Medical University 2023;43(4):620-630
OBJECTIVE:
To propose a semi-supervised material quantitative intelligent imaging algorithm based on prior information perception learning (SLMD-Net) to improve the quality and precision of spectral CT imaging.
METHODS:
The algorithm includes a supervised and a self- supervised submodule. In the supervised submodule, the mapping relationship between low and high signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) data was constructed through mean square error loss function learning based on a small labeled dataset. In the self- supervised sub-module, an image recovery model was utilized to construct the loss function incorporating the prior information from a large unlabeled low SNR basic material image dataset, and the total variation (TV) model was used to to characterize the prior information of the images. The two submodules were combined to form the SLMD-Net method, and pre-clinical simulation data were used to validate the feasibility and effectiveness of the algorithm.
RESULTS:
Compared with the traditional model-driven quantitative imaging methods (FBP-DI, PWLS-PCG, and E3DTV), data-driven supervised-learning-based quantitative imaging methods (SUMD-Net and BFCNN), a material quantitative imaging method based on unsupervised learning (UNTV-Net) and semi-supervised learning-based cycle consistent generative adversarial network (Semi-CycleGAN), the proposed SLMD-Net method had better performance in both visual and quantitative assessments. For quantitative imaging of water and bone materials, the SLMD-Net method had the highest PSNR index (31.82 and 29.06), the highest FSIM index (0.95 and 0.90), and the lowest RMSE index (0.03 and 0.02), respectively) and achieved significantly higher image quality scores than the other 7 material decomposition methods (P < 0.05). The material quantitative imaging performance of SLMD-Net was close to that of the supervised network SUMD-Net trained with labeled data with a doubled size.
CONCLUSIONS
A small labeled dataset and a large unlabeled low SNR material image dataset can be fully used to suppress noise amplification and artifacts in basic material decomposition in spectral CT and reduce the dependence on labeled data-driven network, which considers more realistic scenario in clinics.

World Science and Technology-Modernization of Traditional Chinese Medicine 2023;25(8):2653-2659
Tongue diagnosis is an indispensable objective basis for TCM diagnosis and treatment of epidemic diseases. To understand its application in an epidemic situation and to support in the diagnosis and treatment of infectious diseases using traditional Chinese medicine, the tongue image APP was implemented in this study to monitor the tongue image features of patients with new coronavirus pneumonia. It has been discovered through practice that the tongue image APP enables medical professionals to objectively, conveniently, quickly, and flexibly collect the patient's tongue image. It has also been discovered through the analysis of the tongue image characteristic data that the tongue image APP can,to a certain extent, objectively reflect the general law of the tongue image characteristics of the new crown pneumonia.According to the tongue image data gathered by the Tongue Image APP,Xinguan pneumonia patients'tongues were typically red, their fur was typically white, yellow,or both white and yellow, and they had a greater amount of thick and greasy fur.Nevertheless, there are still several issues with the Tongue APP application that have been noted:①The consistency of tongue shape and coating was poor;for instance, the inconsistency rate between a thin and fat tongue was as high as 62.96%;②The tongue image analysis index in the APP is still mostly a qualitative index, and the degree of discriminating is insufficient. The results of this study demonstrate that the tongue image information of different ages, sexes, disease classifications, and onset times does not reflect obvious differences and certain rules.③The tongue image characteristic indexes gathered by the tongue image APP are insufficient and do not include information on glossiness of tongue image(such as dark tongue)and tongue state. To promote the adoption of the tongue image APP and better support the prevention and treatment of epidemic diseases by traditional Chinese medicine,we should fully integrate modern advanced science and technology, improve the short videos of tongue coating, quantification of qualitative indicators, comprehensive collection of tongue image characteristic indicators, etc.

This paper aims to study the effects of traditional Chinese medicine on multidrug resistant human gastric cancer cells in the cell proliferation, migration, invasion and apoptosis, and to study the apoptosis-inducing pathway. Different dilutions of extract were used to process human multidrug resistant gastric cancer SGC7901/ADR cells. Cell proliferation inhibition phenomenon was determined by MTT experiment. Nuclear morphological changes of apoptotic cells and apoptotic indexes were observed and determined by Hochest33528 staining followed with fluorescence microscope observing. Flow cytometry was used to detect cell apoptosis rate. Cell migration and invasion ability were observed and determined by Transwell method. Spectrophotometry was used to detect caspase-3 and caspase-9 enzyme activity. Western blotting was used to detect subcellular distribution of cytochrome c. The results showed that extract had obvious inhibition effect on proliferation of gastric cancer multidrug resistant SGC7901/ADR cells, which was time- and concentration-dependent. After processing multidrug resistant gastric cancer SGC7901/ADR cells with extract, the apoptotic index and apoptosis rate were significantly increased than those in the control group, which showed a time- and dose-dependent mode; but if a caspase inhibitor was added, apoptosis index was not obviously increased. Transwell method showed that migration and invasion ability of the extract-processed SGC7901/ADR cells dropped significantly. Spectrophotometry showed that in extract-processed SGC7901/ADR cells, caspase-3 and caspase-9 expression were increased, which had significant differences with the control group. Western blotting test showed that the distribution of cytochrome c decreased in mitochondria, while increased in the cytoplasm (i.e., cytochrome c escaped from mitochondria to the cytoplasm). In conclusion, extract could inhibit the proliferation, migration and invasion, and induce apoptosis in human gastric cancer multidrug resistant SGC7901/ADR cells; and cytochrome c, caspase-9 and caspase-3 might be involved in cell apoptosis induced by extract, suggesting endogenous or mitochondrial apoptotic pathway.
