Chinese Journal of Health Management 2012;06(2):100-103
Objective To analyze the association between metabolic syndrome (MS) and education level in women. Methods A total of 810 adult females (aged 20 to 60 years) from specified hospital of Beijing were enrolled in this investigation. Questionnaires and physical examinations were completed to collect data. Education level was indicated as degree of education and length of schooling. Analysis of Variance and logistic regression were used for data analysis. Results Significant differences of waist circumstance, systolic blood pressure, diastolic blood pressure and fasting blood glucose were found among respondents with different education level ( all P < 0.05 ).Lower education level was positively associated with risk of MS when adjusted for cigarette smoking, alcohol consumption, food intake, medical history of critical illness and genetic disease, socioeconomic status, and stress. After adjustment for age,the effect wasn't significant anymore. Conclusion Education level may show important effects on MS among women.
2.Investigation on Candida Carrier Rate of Healthy Infants and Juveniles of Han,Dai and Zang Nationalities
Journal of Kunming Medical University 1988;0(03):-
In this paper, the candida carrier rate of 1996 healthy infants and juveniles of the Han,Dai and Zang nationalities was reported. The specimens were taken from the tongue, cheek mucosa, stool, urine, finger web and vagina. The carrier rate of C.albicans in the mouth was significantly higher than that in the other regions. C.albicans at the tongue of the Han,Dai and Zang people was 4.5%,5.3%, 1.07% respectively.Therefore,C.albicans' residence in the mouth was probably an important source of the internal infection of candidiasis.Of the 1996 healthy individuals none had C.albicans isolated from the urine. The carrier rate of C. albicans isolated from the vagina was only 0.15% in the Han and zero in the Dai and Zang. The carrier rate of candida was least in the newborn. Our data also suggested that the carrier rate of candida at the tongue was much higher than that at the cheek mucosa.Regard must be paid when isolating fungi from the mouth.

Objective To investigate the changes of serum soluble Fas (sFas) and soluble Fas-ligand (sFasL), and the relationship betweenthe level of serum sFas or sFasL and the infarct volume in patients with acute cerebral infarction (ACI). Methods Sixty patients with ACI (female 28, male 32) served as study group and 30 healthy subjects (female 18, male 12) served as control group. An enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay was used to detect the levels of serum sFas and sFasL in both groups, and the differences of the sFas and sFasL concentration were compared between the two groups. Results The levels of serum sFas at 48 hours, at day 7 and 14 in the ACl group were 6. 27 ± 1.48 ng/L, 4. 99 ± 1.15 ng/L, and 3.74 ± 0.58 ng/L,respectively, and they were all significantly higher than 3.00 ± 0. 38 ng/L in the control group (P <0. 05). The levels of serum sFasL at 48 hours, at day 7 and 14 in the ACI group were 4.40 ± 1.32 ng/L, 3. 19 ± 0.94 ng/L, and 1.91±0.45 ng/L, respectively. They were significantly higher than 1.15 ±0.21 ng/L in the control group (P<0.01). The levels of sFas (1.91 ± 0.45) ng/L, respectively, and they were all significantly higher than (4.98 ±0.91) ng/L(t = 12.12 ,P <0. 01)and (3.58 ±0. 87) ng/L(t =5.35 ,P <0.01) in the small infarction group. The levels of serum sFas and sFasL in patients with ACI showed positive correlation (r =0. 748, P =0. 01). Conclusions High serum sFas and sFasL may indicate larger infarct volume in patients with ACI.

Objective To investigate the relationship between uncertainty in illness and recovery quality. Methods A cross sectional study was conducted from June to December 2015. The Chinese version Mishel Uncertainty in Illness Scale was used to assess uncertainty in illness of 168 patients with unconfirmed breast tumor undergoing general anesthesia. The following datarecovery time, time stay in postanesthesiacar unit, modified Observer′s Assessment of Alertness/Sedation Scale score etc were recorded. Results The breast tumor patients had a medium degree of illness uncertainty (81.11 ± 12.57) points. Educational background, marital status, family medical history, the severity of disease affect scores of illness uncertainty (P<0.05 or 0.01). Uncertainty in illnesswas negative correlated with recovery quality (P<0.05 or 0.01). Conclusions Uncertainty in illness of patients isrelated to recovery quality. Nursesshould instruct breast tumor patients to manage symptoms to decrease uncertainty in illness.

OBJECTIVE To compare sensitivity in typeⅠ hypersensitivity between BN and Wistar rats, and to establish a sensitive and reliable determination system for typeⅠ hypersensitivity. METHODS BN and Wistar rats were sc given ovalbumin (OVA) 10, 20 and 40 μg·kg~(-1) every other day for 5 times and normal control group with sc normal saline. The total immunoglobulin E (IgE) levels in serum were determined with ELISA and the specific IgE levels in serum were determined by passive cutaneous anaphylaxis on the 21st day from the 1st injection. The blood pressure, serum histamine and tryptase levels were determined after challenge on the 22nd day. RESULTSTotal IgE, specific IgE, histamine and tryptase levels in serum significantly increased and blood pressure decreased in OVA 10, 20 and 40 μg·kg~(-1) BN rat groups compared with normal control group, while in Wistar rats these symptoms only appeared in OVA 40 μg·kg~(-1) group. CONCLUSION BN rats are more sensitive than Wistar rats in typeⅠ hypersensitivity. The blood pressure, serum total IgE, specific IgE, histamine and tryptase levels can be used as the important indicators in typeⅠ hypersensitivity.

Objective To investigate the effectiveness and feasibility of cardiovascular computed tomography angiography(CTA) in 128-slice DSCT with low tube voltage and low dosage contrast media in children with tetralogy of Fallot (TOF). Methods Forty patients with TOF were randomly divided into group A and group B by random number table method, patients in group A received a conventional scan with 80 kVp and contrast media of 1.2 ml/kg, patients in group B, 70 kVp and contrast media of 1.0 ml/kg were used. The injection time of the two groups were both fixed for 12 s. CT attenuation, image noise and signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) of ascending aorta, the main pulmonary artery, left ventricle and right ventricle were quantified. Radiation dose and volume of the contrast medium were recorded. Subjective image quality was assessed by two radiologists in consensus. The Student's t test was performed to analyse the differences between the two groups regarding CT attenuation, image noise, SNR, radiation dose and volume of the contrast medium. The image quality scores between the two groups were compared by using the Mann-Whitney U test. Results No significant difference was found in the attenuation, noise, SNR between the two groups in the same evaluated anatomic regions and no significant difference was found in the image quality. Effective dose (ED) was(0.17±0.05),(0.13±0.04)mSv respectively, there was significant reduction in group B than that in group A (t=2.48, P=0.019). The consumed iodine amount was(10.00±1.84),(8.29± 1.45) ml respectively, there was significant reduction between the two groups (t=2.89, P=0.007). Conclusions In children with TOF, the cardiovascular CTA with diagnostic quality can be adequately acquired with low tube voltage (70 kVp) and low concentration contrast media (1.0 ml/kg), there is significant reduction in radiation dose and contrast medium amount.

Objective To study the application of Supreme laryngeal mask airway (SLMA) with new type to the general anesthesia of lateral position. Methods Sixty patients with ASA Ⅰ - Ⅱ who planned to receive selective poster laparoscopic surgery were divided into SLMA group and general tracheal tuber (GTT) group with 30 cases of each by random digits table. After fast intravenous induction SLMA and GTT were intubated respectively to obtain artificial airway in each group. The time of intubation, efficiency of success, heart rate(HR), invasive blood pressure(IVBP),airway pressure, side effects were observed and recorded. Results The intubation time in SLMA group [(15.1 ±4.0) s] was shorter than that in GTT group [(30.5 ±: 16.2) s] (t' =-5.05,P <0.05); there was no significant difference in efficiency of success between two groups [96.7%(29/30) vs. 76.7%(23/30),P> 0.05]. There was no significant difference in HR and IVBP during the time of intubation and extubation in SLMA group(P> 0.05), but not in GTT group(P<0.05). There was no significant difference in the change of the airway pressure between two groups during the ventilation. There were no complications in two groups. Conclusions The time of SLMA intubation in the general anesthesia with lateral position is short. The effect of intubation and extubation to HR and blood pressure is light. The SLMA intubation is another way to set up safely artificial airway.
