BACKGROUND:The improvement of athletic achievements needs a super-limited exercise to gain, how to protect athletics health under the prerequisite of gaining excellent achievements?OBJECTIVE:To reduce the injury of athletic renal function following maximum exercise by using traditional Chinese medicinal methodDESIGN:A randomized and controlled trial, taking students majoring in sports education specialty as subjects.SETTING:Internal Medicinal Department of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) Hospital of Qufu Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine and Sports Education College of Qufu Normal University.PARTICIPANTS :Two small natural classes were randomly drown up from 16 small natural classes of 2000 grade in Sports Education College of Qufu Normal University, with 20 students in each class, on April 20, 2004.METHODS:All 40 students were according to natural class divided as experimental class and control class. The urine specimens for test were collected 15-20 minutes after one time maximum loading training on April24,2004 and immediately after morning getting-up. The procedure was performed once more on May 24. During the process the students in experimental group had taken the capsule of kidney-and-spleen-strengthening Chinese drug (KSSD, containing mainly Rhizoma Dioscoreae, Radix Polygoni Multiflori, Herba Epimedii, Fructus Lycii, Gynostamma Pentaphyllum,Radix Acanthopanacis Senticosi,Radix Salviae Miltiorrhizae,Radix Bupleuri, etc., 0.3 g/pellet), 6 pellets, 3 times a day. Urinary glucoprotein,β2-microglobulin, albumin and globulin were detectedby radio-immunoassay.MAIN OUTCOME MEASURES:The changes of urinary proteins of the students before and after administration following maximum exercise and getting-up in next morning.RESULTS: All students involved were good for the trial, without any loss.① The contents of various urinary proteins for the subjects after the maximum exercise or before administration were all obviously increased, and the conditions of natural recovery of proteinuria on getting-up next morning were quiet different: the recovery of urinary albumin was the fattest, basically to the normal;recoveries of β2 micro-globulin and immune-globulin were obvious, but the recovery of glucoprotein was inconsiderable.② After the second trial,in comparing the experimental group with the control group it was found that KSSD can obviously influence the recovery of proteinuria following maximum exercise:The effect in 12 hours did not be shown because of too fast natural recovery of albuminuria. It could promote the recoveries of β2 micro-globulin and immune-globulin. The effect on recovery of urinary of glucoprotein was obvious, basically to the normal for experimental group and basically no change for control group, there was a significant differentiation between the two groups.CONCLUSION:The contents of urinary proteins were obviously increased following maximum loading training, and natural recoveries of the four kinds of proteins presented regulatory changes.KSSD can promote the recovery of proteinuria following maximum exercise to normal volume, suggesting that the medicine has a protecting role to renal function.

The study found that the physician-patient trust crisis results from overreliance on technology trust instead of interpersonal trust and institutional trust. The alleged “Paternalistic government innovation”in healthcare service has caused wastes of healthcare resources and gap below public expectancy due to its incompetence in resolving social problems, further eroding institutional legality and intensifying such crisis. This research aimed to identify government accountabilities in building such trust from three aspects.

OBJECTIVE To investigate the protective effect of curcumin on Aβ1-42 damaged cells. METHODS SH-SY5Y cells were cultured with Aβ1-4210μmol · L-1 in the absence or presence of curcumin 1, 5 or 10 μmol · L-1. Cell viability was assayed by MTT. Cell membrane damage was detected by the concentration of lactate dehydrogenase (LDH) in culture medium. Cell apoptosis was measured by flow cytometry with Annexin Ⅴ-FITC/PI staining. Mitochondrial membrane potential was characterized by fluorescence of JC-1 dye. Enzymatic activity of caspases-9 and-3 was measured by colorimetric assay. Protein expression of caspase-3 was detected by Western blotting. RESULTS Compared with vehicle control, the cell viability, concentration of LDH and both early and late apoptosis in Aβ1-4210 μmol · L-1 damaged group were decreased(P<0.01). However, the cell viability, release of LDH and both early and late apoptosis in curcumin group were promoted compared with that in Aβ1-4210μmol·L-1 damaged group. Curcumin inhibited Aβ1-42-induced depolarization of mitochondrial membrane potential(P<0.01), and attenuated Aβ1-42-induced activation of both caspases9 and caspases3 in a concentration-dependent manner, respectively(r=0.990, P<0.01; r=0.996, P<0.01). There were no significant differences in the above detected indexes between curcumin 10 μmol · L-1 group and vehicle control group. CONCLUSION Curcumin inhibits Aβ1-42-induced cell damage and apoptosis by promoting mitochondrial membrane potential and depressing the activation of caspases.

Objective To construct the bioartificial liver by bone mesenchymal stem cell (BMSC) and alginate scaffold. Method Alginate scaffold was used as the cell carrier for the cultivation of BMSC and the differentiation from BMSC into hepatic like cells was induced by the cell factors of HGF, EGF and FGF-4 in the scaffold in vitro. The compatibility of the cells and the scaffold was observed by microscopy and the function of the differentiatd cells was tested. The gene of AFP and ALB was detected by RT-PCR. The secretion of ALB and the urea synthesis of the cells were tested by ALB kit and urea kit respectively. The glycogen synthesis and the CK-18 was tested by the glycogen stanning method and the immunofluorescence test. Results BMSC was able to attach, grow and proliferate well in the alginate scaffold, the well compatibility was observed by microscopy. ALB and urea were detected in the cultivating medium, the gene of ALB and AFP was identified by RT-PCR. The glycogen synthesis ability and the expression of CK-18 were induced during the differentiation. Conclusion The three dimensional atginate scaffold exhibited well compatibility with BMSC, BMSC could be differentiated into the hepatic like cell in the scaffold. BMSC and the alginate scaffold could be used to construct the bioartificial liver for the hepatic tissue engineering.

Objective To study the uncertainty and traceability of HBV DNA assays and discuss the comparability of results among different detection systems. Methods Different detecting systems were used to detect HBV DNA using the national standard substance as "quality control substance". The uncertainty of the results was evaluated referring "Guidelines for estimating and reporting measurement uncerTAinty of chemical test results" of NATA The results were traced back to the national standard substance. According to the CLSI document EP9-A2, the results were analyzed and subjected to bias estimation with the t(0.05sv) √u2b1+ u2b2 as the criterion clinically accepted to investigate the comparability of different detecting systems. Results The means (-y) measured by 3 HBV DNA assay systems were 6.15,5.88,and 6.31 lg(kIU/L) respectively. Except system A,both the biases of system B and C had statistical significance (all P < 0. 05) and expanded uncertainty of three detection systems was varied, but the difference was within the maximum acceptable range (± 0. 5) of the external quality assessment by National Center for Clinical Laboratory. Being traceable to national standard substance, the results of HBV DNA of the three detecting systems were (5.45 ± 1.23), (5.55 ± 1.32) and (5.42 ± 1.25) lg(kIU/L), respectively. There was significant difference among three systems (F = 5.63, P < 0. 05). Comparing system A and B,there was significant difference in statistic (q = 5. 12, P < 0. 05) and the difference between system B and C also had statistically significant (q = 6. 85, P < 0. 05), but the results between system A and C had no statistical difference (q = 1.85,P > 0. 05). Among these three systems, the difference of any two detection systems had no statistical significance (all P > 0. 05). It showed that system bias was acceptable in clinical application and the results between different systems were comparable. Conclusions It is necessary to estimate the uncertainty and traceability when comparing the HBV DNA assay among the different labs. It also needs to estimate the bias of different systems and evaluate the clinical acceptability to ensure the accuracy and comparability of the results.
