Objective We conducted a case-control study to verify the association of rs2070045 SOLR1 polymorphism with PD in the northern Han Chinese population from mainland China. Methods A total of 215 unrelated Han Chinese healthy people and 377 PD patients were included in the study.According to the onset age,the PD patients were divided into 2 groups:early onset PD group (onset age ≤ 50 years old) and late onset PD group (>50 years old).Clinical data was collected and peripheral blood genomic DNA was extracted using MALDI-TOF-PEX technology. The correlation of rs2070045 SOLR1 with Parkinson's disease was analyzed. Results Genotypic frequencies of rs2070045 SNP were investigated through the data from a total of 592 subjects including 377 PD patients and 215 control participants.Genotypes of TT,TG and GG were found in 52,182 and 143 PD patients respectively and in 31,13 and 71 Healthy controls. No significant differences were found in the genotype and allele frequency for rs2070045 between PD group and healthy control (HC) groups. The genotype for rs2070045 in the early-onset PD group was significantly different from that in the HC group (P=0.036).There were no significant differences in genotype and allele frequency between late-onset PD and HC groups. Moreover, carriers of the G-allele (genotype GG/ TG) of rs2070045 showed a significantly decreased risk of early-onset PD compared to non-carriers according to the Logistic regression analysis.Onset age of carriers (genotype GG/ TG) in late-onset PD group was lower compared to non-carries (P=0.001).Other clinical features such as gender,Hoehn-Yahr stage and disease duration had no statistical difference between carriers and non-carriers of PD patients. Conclusion We have found that rs2070045 SNP of SORL1 was associated with early-onset Parkinson's disease in the northern Han Chinese population.G-allele of rs2070045 SNP decrease the risk for early-onset PD,suggesting G-allele might be a protecting factor of early-onset PD.The influence of SORL1 gene polymorphism on Parkinson's disease warrants further investigation.

Objective To determine the efficacy of coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG) in children with coronary obstructive disease subsequent to Kawasaki disease. Methods Between Feb 2005 and Sep 2009, 6 children with ischemic heart disease due to Kawasaki disease comprised the study group. The age of patients at operation was ranged from 6 to 12 years with a mean of ( 8.0 ± 2.3 ) years. The preoperative EF was ranged from 0.33 to 0.71 with a mean of 0.57 ± 0.15. There was one case with moderate mitral valve regurgitation. Results All patients survived the procedures. The mean number of bypass graft was 2.0 ±0.6,with 4 internal thoracic arteries and 7 radial arteries. Mitral valve repair was employed in 1 case. The cardisc function ( NYHA and EF) was significantly improved postoperatively. Postoperative CTA showed no graft disease in all cases. Conclusion CABG using the arterial grafts can provide attractive mid-term results in patients with obstructive coronary arteries associated with Kawasaki disease.

Objective To observe the effect of extracorporeal shock wave (ESW) on proliferation of chondrocyte in vitro. Methods Chondrocyte from normal rabbit knee using enzymatic digestion was treated with ESW of 0, 1×105, 1.5×105, 2×105, 2.5×105, 3×105, 3.5×105 Pa 0, 300, 600, 900 times in vitro. The pressure and frequency of ESW most promoting chondrocyte proliferation were determined with cartilage cell morphology, HE staining and CCK-8 assay. Results Chondrocyte proliferated most under 1.5×105 Pa and 600 times of ESW, and decreased as the pressure and the frequency increased. Conclusion Chondrocyte is stress-sensitive in vitro. ESW can promote chondrocyte proliferation in certain pressure and frequency

Objective To investigate a new method and to observe the clinical effect of repairing the lower eyelid ectropion assisted with the subcutaneous pedicle flap from temporal region. Methods Since 2007, 24 patients with lower eyelid ectropion were treated with the subcutaneous pedicle flap from temporal region which was the donor area without hairs, including 8 cases of scar infection, 6 cases of trauma, and 10 cases of tumor removal. Among the 24 cases of the flap, the maximum area was 5. 5 cm× 1. 5 cm,and the minimum was 4. 0 cm × 1.0 cm. Results All patients were followed up for 6 months to 3 years. All flaps survived completely with excellent texture and appearance. The donor site was hidden and no obvious malformation of the donor site was observed. Conclusions Because the blood supply of flap is reliable and the incision in the donor site is hidden, the subcutaneous pedicle flap from temporal region pedicled with arterial network of the outer canthus is an ideal donor site for repairing the lower eyelid ectropion with full thickness defects.

Objective To improve the diagnosis and treatment of ureteral cancer. Methods A retrospective analysis of 24 cases of primary ureteral cancer treated from January 1990 to March 2005 was performed. The diagnostic value of ultrasound,IVU,CT,MRU and the patients' outcomes were reviewed. There were 19 males and 5 females aged 38-72 years(mean,59 years). The tumors were on the left side in 16 cases and on the right in 8.Of the 24 cases,17(71%)had gross hematuria and 7(29%)had micro- scopic hematuria.Urine cytology was performed in 16 cases with a positive rate of 6.3%.B-ultrasonic exami- nation showed hydronephrosis in 19 cases(79%)and low-echo space-occupying disease of middle-inferior ureter in 3(12%).IVU demonstrated hydronephrosis in 20 cases(83%)and filling defect of the diseased ureter in 3(12%).Retrograde pyelography showed filling defect of the diseased ureter in 16(76%)of 21 cases(5 cases had failure of intubation).CT scan was performed in 20 cases, indicating thickening of the ureteral wall and infiltration of the cancer in 14(70%).In 3 cases who had undergone spiral CT thin layer scan and 1 of 3 cases who had undergone MRU,the definite diagnosis was made. Results All the 24 pa- tients underwent surgical treatment.Among them, nephroureterectomy and bladder cuff or partial resection were performed in 18 cases, and nephrectomy and partial ureterectomy in 6 cases.Postoperative pathology showed transitional cell carcinoma in 23 cases, and adenoma in 1.Of the 14 cases during 1990-1999 peri- od,1,5,3,2,2 and 1 cases had survival time of 1,2,3,4,5 and 6 years, respectively.Of the 10 cases during 2000-2005 period,3 were lost to follow-up;2 survived for 3 years and 2,for 1 year;the other 3 who have survived near 5 years have been followed till now. Conclusions IVU and retrograde urography are the most common diagnostic measures for primary ureteral cancer. They can be used in combination with other imaging study to reduce missed diagnosis rate. The 5-year survival rate was lower because of late pathologic stage of the tumors in the patients of this series.
