Objective To explore the clinical feature, treatment and prognosis of hepatitis associated aplastic anemia (HAAA) in children. Method The clinical data of 5 children with HAAA were retrospectively analyzed. Results There were 5 patients (4 males and 1 female) with median age of 10 years (7~13 years ). The detection of hepatitis A, B, C, and E were all negative in these 5 children during their acute hepatitis period. In 2 children, parvovirus B19 antibody and EB virus were negative and the proportion of CD4+T cells and the ratio of CD4+/CD8+ were decreased, and the proportion of CD8+T cells was increased by T-lymphocyte subsets analysis. Three children were treated with anti-thymocyte globulin combined with cyclosporine, 2 of whom achieved complete remission and 1 died of pulmonary fungal infection. One child was treated with cyclosporine only and achieved partial remission. One child lost follow-up after giving up treatment. Conclusion HAAA in children can be caused by viral seronegative hepatitis, and usually has T lymphocyte immune disorders. Immunosuppressive therapy is effective. .

AIM: To explore the feasibility of culturing human umbilical vein endothelial cells ( HUVEC ) on acellular corneal stroma and performing the posterior lamellar endothelial keratoplasty ( PLEK ) treating corneal endothelial decompensation.
METHODS: Thirty New-Zealand rabbits were divided into three groups randomly, 10 rabbits for experimental group, 10 for stroma group and 10 for control group. Corneal endothelial cells were removed to establish animal model of corneal endothelial failure. PLEK was performed on the rabbits of experimental group and stroma group, and nothing was transplantated onto the rabbits of control group with the deep layer excised only. Postoperative observation was taken for 3mo. The degree of corneal edema and central corneal thickness were recorded for statistical analysis.
RESULTS:Corneas in experimental group were relieved in edema obviously compared with that in stroma group and the control group, and showed increased transparency 7d after the operation. The average density of endothelial cells was 2 026. 4±129. 3cells/mm2 , and average central corneal thickness was 505. 2±25. 4μm in experimental group, while 1 535. 6±114. 5μm in stroma group and 1 493. 5±70. 2μm in control group 3mo after operation.
CONCLUSION:We achieved preliminary success in our study that culturing HUVEC on acellular corneal stroma and performing PLEK for corneal endothelial decompensation. HUVEC transplanted could survive in vivo, and have normal biological function of keeping cornea transparent. This study provides a new idea and a new way clinically for the treatment of corneal endothelial diseases.

BACKGROUND:Skeletal muscle fiber damage that is induced by prolonged or high-intensity exercise directly cause muscle injury. OBJECTIVE:To propose the existence of a relationship between delayed onset muscle soreness and muscle satel ite cel s after skeletal muscle injury from the objective reality. METHODS:A retrieval of CNKI and PubMed databases was done for relevant literature published from February 1961 to February 2015 using the keywords of“delayed onset muscle soreness;skeletal muscle injury;satel ite cel s, skeletal muscle;myogenic regulatory factors”in Chinese and English, respectively. Final y, 59 articles were included to explore the mechanism of skeletal muscle injury accompanied by delayed onset muscle pain. RESULTS AND CONCLUSION:Skeletal muscle micro-injury mainly refers to ultrastructural destroy and metabolic disorders, involving muscle cel membrane, cytoskeleton, sarcomere and mitochondria, thereby leading to skeletal muscle contraction dysfunction that is often accompanied with delayed onset muscle soreness. Eccentric exercise can cause the severest microdamage to the skeletal muscle fibers. The occurrence of delayed onset muscle soreness can stimulate the secretion of growth factors from skeletal muscle satel ite cel s to a certain extent, and the time series of delayed onset muscle soreness triggered by sustained high-intensity eccentric exercise has a certain correlation with the time series of the proliferation of skeletal muscle satel ite cel s.

Objective To study the application of the linear sampling method(LSM) in 2D electromagnetic inverse scattering imaging and to mainly discuss the imaging quality of LSM with partial-view data.Methods Get the norm of solution vector to the equivalent integral equation using numerical calculation in every sampling point at imaging region,and represent the norm with gray to reconstruct the scattering shape.Results Under all incident angles [0,360?] and all observation angles [0,360?],the imaging quality of the far-field pattern of scattering wave was obtained very well.But when reducing the range of the incident angles and observation angles,the imaging quality declined.Particularly,the imaging quality in the case of both incident angles and observation angles being at the same side of the observed object,were much better than both in opposite sides.Furthermore,the profile of the object was imaged more clearly as its position corresponding to the orientation of the incident/observation angle.Conclusion Although the imaging quality will decline with partial-view data in electromagnetic inverse scattering,the effectiveness of imaging with LSM still deserves attention.

OBJECTIVE: To study the material basis of the tonifying effect of Radix Changii by observing its contents of nutrient elements. METHODS: The contents of vitamins in Radix Changii and inorganic elements in the water extracts of it were tested by high performance liquid chromatography, fluorescence spectrophotography and scanning electron microanalysis. RESULTS: Radix Changii contains fat-soluble vitamins E and K 259.2 and 64.1 microg/kg respectively, and water-soluble vitamins C, B1 and B2 78.5, 0.6 and 0.7 mg/kg respectively. Its decoction contains abundant potassium and calcium ions. CONCLUSION: Radix Changii is rich in elements necessary for human body. It has the material basis for tonification.

Sepsis is the leading cause of mortality in critically ill patients.Studies indicate that immune suppression in sepsis is more often associated with poor outcome.Dendritic cells may contribute largely to the development of immune suppression during sepsis.This article reviews the emerging data indicating the key role of dendritic cells in sepsis induced immune suppression.A deeper insight into the dendritic cell changes during sepsis may provide a powerful weapon against sepsis.

Objective To investigate the effects of heart displacement on hemodynamics during off-pump coronary artery bypass grafting (OP-CABG) while the sites for anastomosis were being exposed. Methods Forty-seven patients of both sexes (36 male, 11 female) aged 50-82 years undergoing OP-CABG were enrolled in the study. Preoperative cardiac function was assessed : class Ⅱ in 22 patients; Ⅲ in 23 and Ⅳ in 2 according to NYHA classification.The mean ejection fraction was 0.55?0.14 before surgery.They received on average 3.2 grafts. Premedication consisted of intramuscular morphine 10 mg, midazolam 3-5 mg and scopolamine 0.3 mg.Before induction of anesthesia ECG and SpO2 were monitored and radial artery was cannulated for continuous direct BP monitoring. Anesthesia was induced with midazolam 0.1 nig?kg-1 , fentanyl 4?g?kg-1 and pancuronium 0.1 mg?g-1 iv.The patients were mechanically ventilated after tracheal intubation and PETCO2 was maintained at about 40 mm Hg. Anesthesia was maintained with isoflurane and 50%-60% N2O in O2 and intermittent intravenous boluses of fentanyl and pancuronium. Swan-Ganz catheter which can continuously monitor mixed venous blood O2 saturation (SvO2) was placed in pulmonary artery via right internal jugular vein. SvO2, cardiac output (CO), BP, pulmonary arterial pressure (PAP) and HR were continuously monitored. Right atrial pressure (RAP) and PAWP were measured intermittently. Cardiac index (CI),stroke index (SI),systemic vascular resistance index (SVRI),PVRI, left and right ventricular work index (LVWI,RVWI) and left and right ventricular stroke work index (LVSWI,RVSWI) were calculated. The hemodynamic parameters were recorded after induction of anesthesia before surgery (T1,baseline),before heart displacement (T2), while anastomosis to anterior descending branch was being made (T3), while anastonosis to right coronary artery or posterior descending branch (T4) and to left circumflex artery or diagonal branch (T5) was being made, after normal heart position was resumed (T6) and at the end of operation (T7). Objective To investigate the effect of combined Metformin and esomeprazole therapy on plasma levels of gastrin,blood glucose,glycosylated hemoglobin(HbA1c) and insulin in elderly patients with type 2 diabetes.Methods A randomized,double-blind,placebo-controlled study of 41 elderly patients with type 2 diabetes was conducted.Patients were randomly assigned into treatment group(combination therapy with Metformin 0.5 g,bid or tid and Esomeprazole 20 mg,qd,for 12 weeks)and placebo group(Metformin monotherapy 0.5 g,bid or tid,for 12 weeks).Fasting blood samples were taken from vein before and after treatment.Fasting serum levels of gastrin,glucose,HbA1c,insulin,lipids,liver and renal functions were compared between the two groups.The homeostasis model of assessment for insulin resistance index(HOMA-IR) and insulin secretion index (HOMA-β)were calculated,and complications were recorded.Results There were no significant differences in body mass index and waist circumference between the two groups.Serum gastrin level was slightly increased in the treatment group 12 weeks after treatment,but without statistically significance [(127.20±9.21)ng/L vs.(131.53±7.84)ng/L,P＞0.05],and serum gastrin level had no significant differences in the placebo group before and after treatment [(128.42±4.58)ng/L vs.(127.51±3.47)ng/L,P＞0.05].However,there were no significant differences in the changes of blood glucose,HbA1c,insulin,HOMA-β and HOMA-IR before versus after therapy,and between the two group(all P＞0.05).Conclusions Combined Metformin and insulin therapy cannot increase serum gastrin and insulin levels and has no significant effect on reducing blood glucose and HbA1c levels in elderly patients with type 2 diabetes.
