Objective To explore the clinical significance of FPSA/PSA ratio in the differential diagnosis of prostate carcinoma(Pca) and benign prostate hyperplasia (BPH). Methods The concentrations of FPSA and PSA in 52 patients with Pca or BPH were analysed retrospectively to calculate FPSA/PSA ratio. Results FPSA/PSA ratio between the Pca and BPH was markedly different (t=4 01,P

Objective To investigate the safety and effectiveness of Glifeet in bowel preparation before colonoscopy. Methods A prospective, single blind, randomized controlled trial of patients undergoing colonos-copy was conducted.A total of 67 inpatients were randomized to the control group, who received a low-residue and semiliquid diet (n =31)and the experimental group, who received Glifeet all day (n =36)before the proce-dure.All patients took polyethylene glycol electrolyte powder 1 000 ml at 7 pm on the day before colonoscopy and 2 000 ml at 8 am on the examination day.Bowel preparation quality was scored using the Boston Bowel Prepara-tion Scale (BBPS).Side effects were also observed. Results The time of the first bowel movement of the experi-mental group was significantly shorter [(77.43 ±54.21)min VS (149.35 ±118.15)min,P =0.002].An in-creased defecating frequency was observed in the experimental group, but there was no significant difference when compared with the control group (11.44 ±6.95 VS 8.74 ±3.58,P =0.055).Patient tolerance and acceptance did not differ. There was no significant difference in BBPS between the two groups. But the bowel preparation quality of the right colon was significantly better in the experimental group (2.56 ±0.50 VS 2.23 ±0.81,P =0.045). Conclusion Glifeet could meet the needs of basic energy in most patients for colonoscopy.Furthermore,Glifeet is well tolerated and can partially improve the quality of bowel preparation.

Objective To compare the Immunoreactivity of various HEV Antigen with Anti-HEV IgM. Methods Solid-phase enzyme immunoassay( EIA ) was developed for detecting anti-HEV IgM by using synthetic peptides E30, E42, E33, and recombinant antigen from HEV ORF-2. Results Of 60 anti-HEV positive sera by using E30, E42, E33 and recombinant antigen as coating antigen, Anti-HEV IgM positive rates were 76.7%, 26.6%, 18.3% and 66.7% respectively. In Acute-phase and convalescence-phase sera of the patients with Hepatitis E, Anti-HEV IgM positive rate was 90% and 3.3% respectively. Conclusions The HEV E30-based EIA will be very useful in the early diagnosis of Hepatitis E.

Objective To examine the chracteristics of distribution of the FGF R before and after the flap transplantation and the influence of exogenic bFGF on the distribution of FGF R. Method Caudally based random skin flaps were raised on the backs of Wistar rats,bFGF was instilled under flaps after closure. An immunohistochemical techniques stanining method was used. Results FGF receptors distributes in the stratum basal of epidermis, the vascular endothelial cells in the dermis and hypodermis, the fibroblasts and the epithelial cells of the hair follicle and the sweat gland. In compared with preoperation, the quantity of increased gradually from the 1st day to the fifth day after operation, and the peak value is on the fifth day,it then recovered to the pre operation level on the serventh day. After applying the exogenic bFGF,the positive immunoreactive cells in the experimental group, increased remarkably from the Ist day to the 3rd day after operation in contrast with the control group. The peak value is on the 3rd day which was two days earlier than that of the control group and the peak value of the experimental group is remarkably higher than that of the control group.Conclusion\ FGF R distributes in the stratum basal of epidermis, the vascular endothelial cells in the dermis and hypodermis, the fibroblasts, and the epithelial cells of the hair follicle and the sweat gland. In compaired with pre operation, the quantity of the positive immunoreactive cells of FGF R were increased gradually from the Ist day to fifth day after operation, and the peak value is on the fifth day. After applying the exogenic bFGF,the positive immunoreactive cells of FGF receptors were increased.\;[

Objective To study the activation of Janus protein tyrosine kinase (JAK)/signal transducer and activator of transcription 1 (STAT1) signaling pathway and its inhibitor-signal transducer and activator of transcription-1(SOCS-1) in patients with systemic lupus erythematosus. Methods A total of 45 patients with active systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) and 30 healthy controls were randomly selected. Western blot was performed to measure the expression of Stat1 protein and phospho-Stat1 protein (an activated form of Stat1 protein) in the monocytes after stimulation with recombinant high mobility group box1 (rHMGB1) at various time points. Expression of Stat1 protein in the skin or lesional skin was also detected. Phasic expressions of SOCS-1 mRNA in the monocytes after rHMGB1 stimulation were detected by real-time reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction. SOCS-1 gene expression in the skin or lesional skin was also detected. Results The expression level of Stat1 proteins in the monocytes from patients with SLE was higher than that from healthy controls (t=9.16,P<0.01) and positively correlated with SLE disease activity index (SLEDAI) (r=0.59,P<0.01). Expression of phospho-Stat1 in the monocytes from SLE patients was time-dependently upregulated after stimulation with rHMGB1 at various time points, while expression of SOCS-1 mRNA remained unchanged(all P>0.05). Expressions of phospho-Stat1 protein and SOCS-1 mRNA in the monocytes from healthy controls were increased transiently after stimulation with rHMGB1(all P<0.05). Both expressions of phospho-Stat1 protein and SOCS-1 gene in the lesional skin from patients with SLE were upregulated compared with those in normal skin from healthy controls (all P<0.01). Conclusion There are hyperactivation of JAK-STAT1 signaling pathway and negative feedback down-regulation of SOCS-1 in patients with systemic lupus erythematosus. HMGB-1 may be partly involved in the pathogenesis of SLE by the abnormal mediating function of JAK-STAT1 signal transduction pathway.

0.05),but the expression in controls were negative. The expression levels of PRAME gene at remission was decreased obviously, but increased again when the patients relapsed. Conclusions Expression of PRAME gene has a high level in childhood acute leukemia. The dynamic changes are closely related with the prognosis. It can be regarded as a candidate for detecting minimal residual disease in acute leukemia, and may have important implications for estimating the prognosis and guiding the chemical therapy.

Objective To understand the present situation and requirements of health education in schistosomiasis control in Hubei Province,so as to improve the health education to the targeted people. Method Through the questionnaire survey and field investigation, the data of the present situation and requirements of health education in schistosomiasis control were collect-ed in 24 counties(cities)of Hubei Province, and these data included the related institution structure of health education, basic information of personnel, equipment, funds, and health education working form. All the data collected were analyzed and evalu-ated. Results Among the 24 counties, there were 12 independent departments of health education, accounting for 50%. In terms of the basic information of the health education staff, the youngest person was 34 years old and the eldest was 58 years old,and the mean age was 46.55± 6.9 years. For the formal school education of the staff,5 had senior high school or below edu-cation (20.8%),16 had college education (66.7%),3 had bachelor degree or above (12.5%). There were 10 counties (41.70%)with the special funds for health education work but there were 3 counties(12.50%)without the special funds. Con-clusion The effectiveness of health education work in schistosomiasis control is remarkable, but there are still deficiencies in professional staff and funds in Hubei Province.
