Secreted protein acidic and rich in cysteine (SPARC) is expressed in esophageal cancer abnormally. On the one hand, recent studies show that high SPARC expression is correlated with progression and metastasis of esophageal cancer. On the other hand, high SPARC expression increases chemosensitivity and improves short-term efficacy in patients.

To evaluate the effects of interleukin-1 and interleukin-4 on the expression of p27 (one of the negative cell-cycle proteins) and CDK 2 (cell-cycle depending kinase, one of the positive cell-cycle proteins) on renal mesangial cells of rat in vitro, and to analyze their significance. The results showed that the proliferation of mesangial cells was induced markedly by interleukin-1, while the expression of p27 was down-regulated and that of CDK 2 was up-regulated. All of above changes were prevented by interleukin-4. The results suggested that the responses of rat renal mesangial cells to interleukin-1 and interleukin-4 were closely related to the changes in the expression of p27 and CDK 2.

Drowning represents one of the leading causes of unnatural death. The plankton test is still considered as one of the useful methods for medico-legal investigation of death by drowning although controversies concerning the reliability of the test exist. The methods commonly used for detection of planktons generally include microscopic examination after tissue samples are destructed with or without strong acid, and detection of the planktons by molecular biological techniques. The evaluation of the positive results by the former methods are limited by the physical-chemical characters of the planktons. Detection of DNA genetic markers by molecular biological techniques, which can provide abundant information and is applicable to studying various planktons, is a novel method helpful for investigation of drowning. In the present paper, several techniques for detection of planktons were reviewed as references for medico-legal practitioners in investigation of suspected cases of drowning.

Objective To study the Application of X-linked differentially methylated polymorphism site in forensic medicine. Methods X-STR HUMARA was chosen as a model locus.PCR procedures were performed after digestion using methylation-sensitive restriction endonucleases.STR polymorphism of HUMARA was analyzed and compared in samples collected from male and female individuals.Result After digestion with methylation-sensitive restriction enzyme HpaⅡ,no PCR products were obtained from male samples, whereas PCR products from the female samples were normally typed. In monoclonal tumor cell samples from females, only one allele was detected. Conclusion The differentially methylated X-STR HUMARA locus is a novel marker for mixture analysis of mixed stains, sex determination and discrimination of tumor tissues.

Journal of Applied Clinical Pediatrics 2003;0(10):-
Objective To explore the change of degrade of clonazepam in serum with single and repeated - dose administration in children with seizure, and find a reasonable method for using the clonazepam. Methods Children with seizures were divided into single - dose paradigam, repeated - dose paradigam, and decreased - dose paradigam. The concentration of CZP in serum was determined by high performance liquid chromatography( HPLC). Results The serum concentrations of clanazepain in single - dose paradigam were (101.9?12.1),(76.9 ? 5.8),(50.7?2.9),(30.9?5.4),(21.5?6.8)?g/L,the time point that the blood samples collected were 15,30,60,120 and 480 min. The serum concentrations in repeated - dose paradigam were (97. 2 ? 6. 1),(130.4? 13. 4), (99. 4 ? 9.8),(79.6?2.4)?g/L,in decreased-dose paradigam were( 101.1 ?13.1),(123.1 ?6. 6), (99.4 ?9. 8), (79. 3 ? 2. 2)?g/L,in these two groups, the time point were 15,45,60 and 120 min. Conclusion Repeated administration of CZP with decreased dose may increase its effectiveness in treatment without substantially increasing toxicity.

Objective: To study the protective effect of compound extract of soybean, wolfberry and hawthorn on chemical liver injury in mice respectively. Methods:The mice were randomly divided into 5 groups:control(A), liver injury control(B)and 0.06(C)?0.20(D)?0.60(E) g/(kg?bw) compound extract group. The liver injury models were induced by CCl 4 and ethanol in mice respectively. After 4 weeks, for the former, the serum ALT and AST content were measured and the liver pathological change was observed. For the latter, the liver MDA, GSH, and TG content were measured and fat droplets staining in the ice pathological slice were observed . Results: 1.CCl 4 liver injury models:the content of serum ALT of group D and the AST of group D and E were decreased. Compared with normal group, the hepatic pathological changes of the compound extract group was mainly fatty and ballon degeneration, and that of the CCl 4 group was mainly hepatic cytoclasis. 2.Ethanol liver injury models: the content of liver MDA of group C, E and the TG of group C, D, E were all decreased, and the fatty degeneration scores of group C, D were lower, both compared with ethanol group. Conclusion: Compound extract of soybean, wolfberry and hawthorn has the protective effect on liver injuries induced by both CCl 4 and ethanol in mice.

Traditional medical education focus on expository teaching, rote learning, and apprenticeship training for clinical skill.Although these teaching approaches can be beneficial for imparting knowledge and clinical skill, they appear to be insufficient for team cooperation, knowledge integration, and standard training.Biomedical simulation teaching is a new method for imparting knowledge, and has achieved good results in current medical education. This paper aims to introduce the definition and characteristic of biomedical simulation, and the application and significance of biomedical simulation in ultrasound teaching are also outlined and discussed.

Objective To investigate the effects of an electromagnetic field on the extra-cellularly regulated kinase(ERK)signalling pathway and to determine the impact of electromagnetic activation on osteogenic proliferation and differentiation in rat bone marrow mesenchymal stem cells. Methods Rat bone marrow mesenchymal stem cells were isolated and cultured in vitro. The third-passage cells were divided into 4 groups(Control,PD98059,EMF and EMF+PD98059).Western blotting Was used to detect the activation of the ERK signal pathway after exposure to an electromagnetic field.MTT assay Was used to determine the activation of proliferation in the celb in the different groups. The cells' alkaline phosphatase activities were also detected. Results (1)The ERK signal pathway in these rat bone marrow mesenchymal stem cells was activated after exposure to a 15 Hz.1 mT,sine wave form electromagnetic field for 5 min.Activation remained high for at least 1 h.PD98059 can effectively block the activation of the ERK signal pathway.(2)Cell proliferation was promoted after exposure to the electromagnetic field, and this effect could be significantly inhibited by PD98059.(3)Alkaline phosphatase was significantly elevated in these bone marrow mesenchymal stem cells after exposure to the electromagnetic field. The activation in the EMF+PD98059 group Was slightly greater than in the EMF group. Conclusion Electromagnetic fields of 15 Hz and 1 mT can activate the ERK signal pathway and alter proliferation and osteogenic differentiation in the bone marrow mesenchymal stem cells of rats.
