Genetic polymorphism of properdin factor B (Bf)of alternative complement pathway was investigated in 110 patients with Gravesldisease and in 220 blood donors in Wuhan Blood Transfusion Center using high voltage agarose gel electrophoresis andsubsequent immunofixation. Results show that distributions of Bf phenotype observed in normals are in agreement with those expected from the Hardy-Weivr, erg equilibrium (XZ=5.4337, Pc~0.10),but in patients donlt (XZ=29.689~, Pc.

Objective To investigate the effect on apoptosis and extracellular signal regulated kinase (ERK) expression of cholangiocarcinoma RBE cell line induced by paclitaxel and the role of extracellular signal regulated kinase in paclitaxel-induced apoptosis. Methods By techniques of cell culture in vitro, annexin-V-FITC and propidium iodide(PI)double staining and flow-cytometry (FCM), RBE cell line was treated by paclitaxel or together with MEK inhibitor PD98059 for 24 h. Using Western blot test the expression of ERK1, ERK2, pERK after RBE cell line was treated by paclitaxel or together with PD98059. Results Paclitaxel induced RBE cell line to apoptosis, the ratio of apoptosis was 14.8%?2.7%(n=6), the control apoptosis was 3.4%?1.3%(n=6,P

Objective To observe the expression of p38MAPK activity during mitomycin-induced cell cycle arrest of cholangiocarcinoma. Using p38MAPK inhibitor SB203580 to analyze the effect on chemotherapy of cholangiocarcinoma. Methods The selected human cholangicarcinoma cell lines RBE was treated with mitomycin or together with SB203580, cell apoptosis was analysed by AnnexinV-FITC and propidium iodide(PI)double staining and flow cytometry (FCM), p38 and ATF-2 activity was detected by Western blot. Results Mitomycin induced apoptosis of RBE cell line, the ratio of apoptosis was (8.91?0.83)%( P

Objective To discuss the diagnosis and treatment of the benign tumors of pancreas, especially the surgical options and the prevention and cure of the postoperative complications. Methods Clinical data of 23 patients with benign lesions of the pancreas were retrospectively analyzed in our hospital from Jan.2004 to Dec.2009.All of the patients underwent surgical operation.Five patients were treated with pancreatic enucleation,8 patients were treated with distal pancreatectomy with splenectomy,1 patient was treated with central pancreatectomy,5 patients were treated with pancreaticoduodenectomy,4 patients were treated with pancreatic cyst- jejunum R-Y anastomosis.Eighteen patients were treated with somatostatin analogue. Results The pathological diagnosis included pancreatic cyst in 8,islet cell tumor in 4,mucous cystadenomas in 6,serous cystadenomas in 3,solid-pseudopapillary tumor in 2.Seven of 10 cases having pancreatic leak occoured secondary abdominal infection. One patient died of multiple organ dysfunction syndrome after pancreaticoduodenectomy. Conclusion There is no specific symptoms and serologic laboratory examinations for pancreatic benign tumors.CT and ERCP is very helpful for diagnosis and treatment.Surgical option is according to the location of the lesion and the judgement of the tumor whether being benign or malignant.Pancreaticoduodenectomy, central pancreatectomy, distal pancreatectomy with or without splenectomy and pancreatic enucleation is the reasonable surgical option.Pancreatic leakage is the main post-operation complication.Ligation the pancreatic duct reliably, treating the pancreatic raw surface appropriately, external drainage of the pancreatic fluid can reduce the rate of pancreatic leakage.

Objective To compare the timeliness, success and mortality rates between the modified carotid artery puncture method ( MCAPM) and standard suture method ( SSM) in the establishment of rat model of a middle cerebral ar?tery occlusion ( MCAO) . Methods Thirty?two male rats were randomly and equally assigned into MCAPM group and SSM group. The MCAO models were established by inserting a thread into the common carotid artery ( CCA) . 24 h after modeling, the rats of the two groups were evaluated with Bederson neurological scores, and the modeling success rate and mortality rate were analyzed. Results The suture insertion times, success rates and mortality rates of the MCAPM vs. SSM groups were (82?3 ±17?4) s versus (164?6 ± 22?0) s (P<0?01), 87?5% versus 68?75% (P>0?05), and 6?25% versus 18?75% (P>0?05). Conclusions MCAPM can be used to establish the rat model of MCAO due to its simplicity, mild wound and feasibility.

Objective To study the effects of electromagnetic field (EMF) on the activation of extracellular signal-regulated kinase (ERK) and p38 mitogen-activated protein kinase (MAPK) pathways in mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) and their interaction, and to explore the cellular signal transduction mechanism of the biological effects induced by EMF.Methods The 3rd-passage rat bone marrow MSCs were randomly divided into a control group, an EMF group, an EMF + PD98059 group and an EMF + SB202190 group.Cells in the EMF group were cultured in the electromagnetic field, those in the EMF + PD98059 and EMF + SB202190 groups cultured in the electromagnetic field after PD98059 or SB202190 was added, and those in the control group were cultured normally.Different groups of cells were exposed to electromagnetic fields (15 Hz, 1 mT, sine wave form) for different exposure duration. The activated phosphorylated and non-phosphorylated p38MAPK were measured using Western blotting analysis with their specific corresponding antibodies. The alkaline phosphatase (ALP) activity in cells in different groups was detected according to the instructions of ALP kit.MTT assay was applied to investigate the proliferation of cells. Results Electromagnetic fields could rapidly induce the activation of p38 MAPK (P < 0.05) and the phosphorylation of p38 MAPK elevated after 15 min exposure to EMF.The phosphorylation of p38 MAPK was significantly lower in the EMF + SB202190 group than that of the EMF group. After 5 days of EMF exposure, the ALP activity of cells was significantly improved, and the effect could be inhibited by SB202190.The bone marrow mesenchymal stem cells proliferation increased significantly after being exposed to EMF for 3 days, and it could not be blocked by SB202190.Phosphorylation of ERK and MAPK increased significantly when the p38 MAPK pathway was blocked by SB202190 and exposed to EMF for 5 minutes, and it also increased significantly when the ERK MAPK pathway was blocked by PD98059 and received 30 minutes of EMF exposure. Conclusion EMF can quickly activate ERK and p38 MAPK pathways to induce cell proliferation and osteogenic differentiation of bone marrow mesenchymal stem cells. Moreover, in EMF there is a mutual interference between ERK and p38 MAPK pathways.

Parenteral & Enteral Nutrition 2004;0(06):-
Objectives:To observe the effect of different formulas of enteral nutrition on the variety of blood glucose and blood lipid in critically ill patients with hyperglycemia. Methods:Ensure, Nutrison and Glucerna were randomly used with equal daily calorie in 45 patients receiving enteral nutrition. Fasting blood glucose, blood routine, serum potassium, serum sodium, serum chlorine, liver and kidney function, prealbumin, tranferrin, urea and creatinine in 24hr urine were monitored in all cases. Results:The fasting blood glucose was significantly increased in patients having received. Ensure and Nutrison and did need insulin treatment. The fluctuation of fasting blood glucose was less in patients who had used Glucerna and didn’t need insulin(P
