1.Biological Characterization of the Lipopolysaccharide (Endotoxin) Extracted from Bacteroides fragilis NCTC 9343
Academic Journal of Second Military Medical University 1985;0(06):-
In this study, biological activities of the lipopolysaccharide (LPS) extracted from Bacteroides fraglis NCTC 9343 were measured in animals. The results showed that LPS expressed typical endotoxicities, e.g. pyrogenicity in rabbits, lethality in mice and chick embryoes, ability to induce local Shwartzman reaction and coagulability for limulus emoebcyte lysate. But its biological activities were lower compared with that of Enterobacteriaceae. It is suggested that the weaker biological activities are related to the unusual chemical structure of the LPS.
2.Association between cholesteryl ester transfer protein-TaqIB polymorphism and coronary heart disease
Chinese Journal of Postgraduates of Medicine 2009;32(34):1-5
Objective To determine the frequency of the cholesteryl ester transfer protein (CETP)-TaqIB polymorphism and investigate its relationship with plasma lipid levels and coronary hert disease(CHD). Methods Two hundred and thirty-eight patients with CHD (CHD group) and 203 age-matched controls( control group) were selected, the CETp-TaqIB mutation was detected by restriction fragment length polymorphism of the CETP gene. Results In the total subjects, the frequency of B1 and B2 alleles were 59.4%(262/441 ) and 40.6%( 179/441 ) respectively. Compared with that in control group, the frequency of CETP genotype BIBI was higher in CHD group [39.9%(95/238) vs 29.6% ( 60/203 ), P<0.05], and the frequency of B1B2 was lower in CHD group [44.1%(105/238) vs 53.7%(109/203), P< 0.05]. Compared with that in the B2 homozygotes, high density lipoprotein cholesterol (HDL-C) and apolipoprotein (apo)A I level were significantly lower in the B1 homozygotes [(1.19±0.36) mmol/L vs (1.38±0.39) retool/L,( 1.17±0.33 ) g/L vs ( 1.30±0.31 ) g/L, P<0.05]. The B 1 homozygotes was associated with higher degree of cononary stenosis than the B2 carriers (P<0.05 ). There was no significant association between CETP-TaqIB genotype and the risk of CHD (P=0.147). Conclusions CETP-TaqIB polymorphism affects the concentrations of lipaproteins. There are significant associations between the B1 homozygotes and lowerHDL-C and apo A I levels. The B1 allele is not an independent risk factor for CHD.

Chinese Journal of Ocular Fundus Diseases 2000;0(04):-
Objective To seek the evidence-based medicine (EBM) evidences of curative effects of intravitreous injection with triamcinolone acetonide (TA) for macular edema. Methods All articles of intravitreous injection TA for macular edema published in English or Chinese were picked up from databases of MEDLINE and CNKI and then evaluated according to EBM standard. The data in accord with research standard were selected by using excluding and including criteria, and classified according to the appraisal standard of clinical therapeutic documents. Results In the selected papers, none in gradeⅠevidence; 1 in gradeⅡevidence; 7 in grade Ⅲ evidence; 24 in grade Ⅳ evidence; and 19 in gradeⅤevidence. Forty-two papers reported that intravitreous injection with TA had significant effect for macular edema within 3 months, and the improvement of visual acuity was recorded in these papers. Regression of macular edema was recorded in 23 papers. Among 20 papers, side-effect was found in 93 eyes (31.41%) and the serious side-effect in 4 eyes (1.35%). Conclusions Intravitreous injection with TA has some curative effects for macular edema in short term, but the quality of current study has not been encouraging. There are no grade I document and lack of the study of validity in long term and essentiality and validity of retreatment. The special attention should be payed on the increasing persistency of efficacy and preventing the serious side-effects in the future investigation.

Chinese Journal of Tissue Engineering Research 2013;(42):7442-7448
BACKGROUND:The tumor tissue engineering can build an integrated culture model to ful y simulate the in vivo microenvironment of tumor growth, which can be used to study tumor developmental dynamics and related treatment strategies.
OBJECTIVE:To review the three-dimensional culture of tumor cells using tumor engineering technology.
METHODS:PubMed database was retrieved for articles related to tumor engineering, three-dimensional culture of tumor cells, biological scaffold materials and tumor microenvironment published from January 1992 to March 2013.
RESULTS AND CONCLUSION:Three-dimensional culture, because of its reproducible tissue and cellgrowth in vivo, has become an important platform for study of tumor resistance, invasiveness and tumor microenvironment. The three-dimensional culture has showed a trend to gradual y replace the flat culture technique in many fields, and provides a research platform which is very close to in vivo environment. In recent years, with the development of tumor engineering, a variety of new polymer materials have been used in the three-dimensional culture of tumor cells. Three-dimensional culture technology is becoming a hotspot in the field of tumor biology, in which, using a variety of methods and materials, the cells show a growth in the spatial manner to form a biological support or matrix similar to in vivo growth environment. Biomaterials have become the soil on which seed cells can grow wel , and plays an alternative to the extracellular matrix or the matrix of tissues and organs in the tumor engineering. Therefore, the three-dimensional cellculture has been widely used in cancer research, which has become a powerful tool to tumor drug resistance, angiogenesis, cel-cellinteraction, signal transduction, stem cells and other research.

Objective To study the clinic characters of patients with latent autoimmune diabetes in adults (LADA). Methods We evaluated the prevalence of acute and chronic complications in the LADA patients with serum antibodies to glutamic acid decarboxylase (GADA) or to islet cell cytoplasmic antigens (ICA). The prevalence of acute and chronic complications were further compared with that in patients with acute onset type 1 or type 2 diabetes. Results The mean age, BMI, fasting and postprandial C peptide levels of the LADA patients were higher than those of type 1 diabetes and lower than those of type 2 diabetes. Of the LADA patients, 29.3% had ketosis. Although the frequency of repeated attack of ketosis in the LADA patients was similar to that in type 1 diabetes, the duration from diabetic onset to first ketosis in the LADA patients was much longer. The prevalence of retinopathy in the LADA patients was 19.5%, which was similar to that in type 1 diabetes. The prevalence of cataract in the LADA patients was 48.8%, which was similar to that in type 2 diabetes. Less LADA patients had microalbuminuria, compared with the other groups. There was no difference in the prevalence of overt nephropathy, neuropathy and hyperlipidemia among the three groups. The prevalence of coronary heart disease in the LADA patients was similar to that in type 2 diabetes. The prevalence of hypertension in the LADA patients was higher than that in type 1 but lower than that in type 2 diabetes. Conclusion The clinic characters as well as acute and chronic complications in LADA patients are different from those in type 1 and type 2 diabetes.
