Objective To evaluate the diagnostic value of MR urography(MRU) in the diagnosis of renal tuberculosis. Methods MRU features of 18 cases of renal tuberculosis,nonvisualized or poorly visualized in IVU,were analyzed and compared with pathologic findings. Results MRU provided high-resolution images of the kidneys and upper urinary tract in all patients.MRU features of renal tuberculosis and corresponding pathologic changes were summarized. Conclusions MRU has a great value in diagnosing renal tuberculosis when the kidneys are nonvisualized or poorly visualized in IVU.It can provide diagnostic evidence and is helpful with choice of the therapeutic strategy.

AIM: To analyze the direction and degree of static cyclotorsion component (SCC) and dynamic cyclotorsion component (DCC) in corneal refractive surgery.
METHODS:Retrospective analysis. Totally 130 patients (260 eyes) with corneal refractive surgery in our hospital, according to the operation method were divided into femtosecond laser - assisted laser in situ keratomileusis (FS-LASIK) group and T-photorefractive keratectomy (T-PRK) group, the differences of the parameters of the two groups were compared; the differences of SCC success rate, SCC, DCC, and the eyeball rotation direction were compared between the two groups; correlation analysis on SCC, DCC and the parameters of postoperative patients were performed.
RESULTS: High order aberrations and spherical aberration in the T-PRK group after operation was higher than those of FS - LASIK group, and the difference was statistically significant (P<0. 05); in T-PRK group SCC in the operation was successful in 98 eyes, the success rate was 81. 7%; in FS-LASIK group SCC in the operation was successful in 82 eyes, the success rate is 58. 6%, the difference of SCC success rate between the two groups was statistically significant ( P < 0. 05 ); SCC in T - PRK group was 3. 52o ±2. 17o and FS-LASIK group was 3. 49o ±2. 26o, there was no significant difference (P>0. 05); DCC in T-PRK group (2. 86o±1. 14o) was higher than that of FS-LASIK group ( 2. 17o ± 1. 09o), and the difference was statistically significant (P<0. 05). There was no statistical difference in the direction of rotation of the eyeball in operation between the two groups (P>0. 05). The SCC of subjects in operation was positively correlated with UCVA, BCVA, spherical equivalent refraction and high order aberrations ( P < 0. 05 ); the DCC of subjects in operation was positively correlated with UCVA and high order aberrations (P<0. 05).
CONCLUSION: The success rate of SCC in T - PRK surgery is higher than that in LASIK, DCC in T - PRK surgery is higher than that in LASIK, and accurate measurement of SCC and DCC can be effective to compensate for it.

Objective To investigate the clinical characteristics,diagnosis and treatment for Graves' disease associated with papillary thyroid microcarcinoma(PTMC) by retrospectively analyzing domestic and foreign literatures.Methods 32 patients of Graves' disease associated with PTMC treated at the Department of Thyroid Surgery,the First Bethune Hospital of Jilin University from Jun.2008 to Jun.2013 were collected.32 cases of PTMC with normal thyroid function were randomly selected by a random number table method from the same period as control.Results The experimental group had 32 patients aging from 24 to 71 years old,among whom 3 were males,and 29 were females with the male to female ratio was 1∶9.7.15 cases in the experimental group had positive central lymph node metastasis and the other 17 cases were negative,while in the control group 7 cases were positive and 25 cases were negative.The mean number of positive lymph nodes was 3 ± 2.88 in the experimental group and 1.71 ± 1.25 in the control group.The ratio of positive lymph node metastasis(the number of positive lymph nodes/the total number of lymph nodes,and the total number of central lymph nodes was ＞3)was (50.34 ±27.09) ％ in the experimental group and(33.5 ±30.79)％ in the control group.For the above 3 values of central lymph node metastasis,the experimental group were all higher than those of the control group (P =0.035,0.039,0.018 respectively).Conclusions Compared with patients of PTMC,patients of Graves' disease associated with PTMC are more likely to have central lymph node metastasis,more number of positive lymph node and higher metastasis ratio.In order to prevent the postoperative recurrence of Graves' disease and thyroid carcinoma local lymph node,total thyroidectomy plus central lymph node dissection should be the ideal operation method.

Objective To summarize our experience on the treatment for severe vascular injuries in the operation of great saphenous varicose vein. Methods The clinical data of 4 cases (5 lower limbs) from December 2004 to April 2009 of severe vascular injuries were retrospectively analyzed. For the lower limbs in which from the end of femoral artery to the upper part of posterior tibial artery were stripped, reconstruction operation using blood vessel prothesis was performed, above knee amputation was performed because of limb gangrene. For three limbs in which 10 cm to 15 cm superficial femoral artery were stripped, reconstruction operation using autologous saphenous vein were performed, above knee amputation was performed for one limb 5 days after the operation. For the limb in which 2 cm superficial femoral vein were cut, reconstruction operation using autologous saphenous vein were performed. Results No cases died perioperatively,for four limbs of injuried artery, ampution were performed for two limbs(50% ) ;two limbs (50%) were saved. The patient of injuried superficial femoral vein recovered. Conclusions Severe vascular injuries can be prevented and its incidence reduced by improving the awareness for iatrogenic vascular injuries,accurate operation; once the vascular injury occurred, prompt and rational measures must be adopted.

Leucine zipper tumor suppressor 2 (LZTS2) is a novel tumor suppressor gene that has been increasingly recognized in recent years. Currently, many studies illustrate that LZTS2 gene, the important candidate tumor suppressor gene, is already involved in the inhibition of tumorigenesis and aberrant proliferation of tumor cells, and other functions of tumor cells. Information from these stud-ies can contribute to the formulation of new strategies for the treatment of tumors.

ObjectiveTo understand the urban preference for outpatient pre-registration in large hospitals,and probe into the influencing factors,for recommendations to improve outpatient preregistration at the hospitals.Methods With Nanjing City as an example,the authors used tailoreddesigned questionnaire and qualitative interviews to investigate the preference of 1200 households of local residents regarding outpatient clinical pre-registration service at the tertiary hospitals.Results Age,education and economic factors are found to be the most important influential ones for urban preference in their outpatient pre-registration at large hospitals.Other factors include traditional approaches to outpatient clinic,inconvenience for outpatient pre-registration,and concerns for appointment breaking.Conclusion in order to increase their preference for outpatient pre-registration at large hospitals,hospitals should work to explore and improve approaches for outpatient pre-registration,and better their service quality,which will involve greater participation of both the hospital staff and residents.

Objective To evaluate the method and outcome of surgical treatment for refractory slow-transit constipation (STC). Methods Clinicopathologic data of 24 patients with severe STC which underwent (colectomy) in recent years were retrospectively analyzed. Results 18 of the patients underwent pancolectomy,and 6 underwent subtotal colectomy. All of the 14 STC patients complicated with outlet obstructive (constipation)(OOC) were corrected preoperatively by related surgery. The curative rate of surgical (treatment) was 95.8%,with an average of(3?1.9) times of bowel motion per day. The incidence of (abdominal) distention decreased from 75% to 12.5%. One patient who underwent ileorectal anastomosis (developed) recurrent constipation. Conclusions Colectomy produces satisfactory results in the majority of (patients) with refractory slow-transit constipation.Patients complicated with OOC should undergo energetic (preoperative) correction therapy,in order to ensure a satisfactory surgical outcome.
