Fourteen compounds were isolated by column chromatography from the ethyl acetate extract of the seeds of Brassica campestris. Their structures were elucidated by physicochemical properties and spectroscopic data analysis. The isolated compounds were respectively identified as (5Z,7E)-4, 4-dimethyl-5-acetyl-5, 7-nonadienoic acid (1), indole-3-carboxaldehyde (2), blumenol A (3), vinylsyringol (4), sinapinic acid (5), sinapic acid ethyl ester (6), protocatechuic acid (7), crinosterol (8), campesterol (9), 7-oxo-stigmasterol (10), kaempferol (11), 2,5-dihydroxybenzoic acid (12), syringic acid (13) and daucosterol (14). Compound 1 was a new compound and the other compounds were isolated from this plant for the first time except for compounds 4, 5 and 13.

OBJECTIVETo explore an optimal anesthesia method with less impact on hemodynamics and electrocardiogram (ECG) of old patients with coronary artery disease (CHD) during abdominal operation.

METHODSThe 133 CHD patients waiting for abdominal operation were randomly divided into continuous epidural anesthesia (EA) group, general anesthesia group (GA) and combined spinal-epidural anesthesia (CSEA) group. Continuous monitoring was carried out during operation and mean arterial pressure (MAP), heart rate (HR), oxygen saturation (SaO2), abnormal ECG were measured respectively at different time for comparison and the differences of the above hemodynamic parameters and abnormal ECG features were compared among the 3 groups.

RESULTSAt the 15 min and 30 min point after anesthesia, SaO2 in GA group was significantly increased compared to that in the EA group (P < 0.05). At 15 min, 30 min and 60 min point after anesthesia, MAP in CSEA group was significantly increased compared to that in the EA group (P < 0.05). At 30 min point after anesthesia, HR in CSEA group was increased significantly compared to the EA group (P < 0.05). At 15 min and 30 min point after anesthesia, SaO2 in the CSEA group was increased significantly compare to the EA group (P < 0.05). Compared with preanesthesia (T0) in EA group, MAP, HR and SaO2 decreased significantly at 15, 30 and 60 min after anesthesia (P < 0.05). The fluctuation of the three parameters in GA and CSEA groups were relatively small (P > 0.05). As well as the comparison of abnormal ECG among the 3 groups was concerned, the incidence of ST-T changes in GA and CSEA groups were significantly lower than that in EA group at the time of 15 min, 30 min and 60 min after anesthesia and at the time of surgery termination (P < 0.05, P < 0.01). The incidence of arrhythmia in GA and CSEA groups were significantly lower than that in EA group at the time of 15 min, 30 min and 60 min after anesthesia (P < 0.05, P < 0.01). Compared with T0 in the same group, the incidences of ST-T changes and arrhythmia in GA or CSEA group at the time of 15, 30 and 60 min after anesthesia and at the time of surgery termination were significantly lower than that before anesthesia (P < 0.05, P < 0.01).

CONCLUSIONGA and CSEA have less impact on hemodynamics and have smaller incidence of abnormal ECG of old CHD patients with abdominal operation.

Objective To evaluate the effect of the conspecific bone marrow mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) infusion on the platelets count and the ratio of CD4+ CD25highCD127low regulatory T (Treg) cells in mice with immune thrombocytopenia and the mechanisms.Method ITP mice models were induced by daily intraperitoneal injection of 200 μL phosphate buffer solution [containing 2 μg rat anti-platelet membrane CD41 antibody (MWReg30)] into female Balb/c mice.MSCs were got from male mice.Then different number of MSCs was injected into ITP mice through the tail veins.After 5,7 and 14 days,the number of blood platelets was counted and the ratio of Treg cells was detected by flow cytometry,and compared with those in the healthy mice.Result Twenty-four h after injection of CD41 antibody,platelet counts were reduced sharply to the lowest point,which was about a quarter of the normal level.Then ITP mice models were induced successfully.Platelet counts were increased after the injection of MSCs.On 7th day after injection of MSCs,the platelet counts were significantly higher than those in control mice,and the greater the degree of injection dosage,the greater the elevated platelets (P＜0.05 for all).The ratio of Treg cells in ITP mice models was significantly lower than in the normal mice.The ratio of peripheral blood Treg cells in ITP mice was increased after injection of MSCs and the higher the dose,the greater the effect (P＜0.05 for all) but did not reach the normal level.Conclusion The conspecific bone marrow MSCs infusion can increase the platelet counts in mice with ITP,which may be related to the increase of CD4+ CD25highCD127low Treg cells.

Aim The study is to observe the clinical efficacy of losartan in hypertentive patientswith left ventricular hypertrophy. Methods 21 case were given losartan for 20 wk and 24h ambulatory blood pressure monitoring and color doppler echocardiography were per-formed in the patients before and after treatment.Results The 24 h SBP, 24 h DBP,dDBP, nSBP were from (151 ? 15) 、(93 ?9)、(155 ? 15)、(96 ? 10)、(146 ? 16)、(88 ? 11)mmHg before treatment to (132 ? 11)、(82 ? 8)、(137 ? 12)、(88 ? 9)、(120 ? 9)、(120 ? 15)、(74 ? 9) mmHg after treatment respectively and the IVST, PWT and LVMI were from(14.2 ? 1 .5) mm、(13. 9 ? 1. 45) mm、(152. 1 ? 24. 2) g? m2-1 BSA before treatment to(12. 1 ? 1. 31) mm、 (12. 2 ? 1. 41) mm、(130. 6 ? 23. 1) g? m2-1 BSA after treatment re-spectively. OBJECTIVETo compare the effect of transurethral resection of the prostate combined with endocrine therapy (TURP + ET) with that of αlA-blockers combined with ET ((αlA-b + ET) in the treatment of bladder outlet obstruction (BOO) in patients with advanced prostate cancer (PCa), and to investigate the safety of the TURP + ET for the treatment of PCa with BOO.

METHODSWe retrospectively analyzed 63 cases of PCa with BOO, 28 treated by αlA-b + ET and the other 35 by TURP + ET. We obtained the residual urine volume (RV), maximum urinary flow rate (Qmax), International Prostate Symptom Score (IPSS), and quality of life score (QoL) before and after treatment along with the overall survival rate of the patients, followed by comparison of the parameters between the two methods.

RESULTSAt 3 months after treatment, RV, IPSS, and QoL in the TURP + ET group were significantly decreased from (137.8 ± 27.6) ml, (22.3 ± 3.6), and (4.2 ± 0.8) to (29 ± 13.6) ml, (7.8 ± 2.1), and (1.6 ± 0.5) respectively (P < 0.05), while Qmax increased from (5.6 ± 2.1) ml/s to (17.6 ± 2.7) ml/s (P < 0.05); the former three parameters in the αlA-b + ET group decreased from (133.6 ± 24.9) ml, (21.5 ± 3.2), and (4.7 ± 1.1) to (42 ± 18.3) ml, (12.8 ± 2.6), and (2.5 ± 0.7) respectively (P < 0.05), while the latter one increased from (6.3 ± 2.4) ml/s to (11.7 ± 2.3) ml/s (P < 0.05), all with statistically significant differences between the two groups (P < 0.05). The overall survival rate of the TURP + ET group was not significantly different from that of the αlA-b + ET group (51.4% vs 46.4% , P > 0.05).

CONCLUSIONTURP + ET is preferable to αlA-b + ET for its advantage of relieving BOO symptoms in advanced PCa without affecting the overall survival rate of the patients.

Background High myopia can be corrected using laser therapy and intraocular lens(IOL)implantation.IOL implantation is more suitable than laser therapy for high myopia if the patients suffer from thinner cornea.Objective This clinical trail was to assess and compare the visual quality following phakic iris-claw intraocular lens (IOL) and implantable contact lens(ICL) implantation for high myopia.MethodsIris-claw phakic intraocular lens was implanted in 17 eyes of 10 patients with high myopia,and age-,refractive-matched 17 eyes of 9 patients were in implantable contact lens (ICL) implantation group.Uncorrected visual acuity,best correct visual acuity,contrast sensitivity under the 3,6,12 and 18 c/d spatial frequencies,wave-front aberrations,including RMS3,RMS4 and RMSh,were examined in 6 months after operation.Written informed consent was obtained from each patient before surgery.Results There were no significant difference in uncorrected visual acuity,best correct visual acuity between two groups(t=0.489,P>0.05;t=0.853,P>0.05).Non-glare CS under the 3 c/d,6 c/d,12 c/d and 18 c/d spatial frequencies were insignificantly different between two groups ( t = 0. 906, P > 0.05 ; t = 0. 103, P > 0. 05 ; t =0. 694 ,P>0. 05 ; t = 1. 583, P>0. 05), and the similar outcomes were found in glare CS ( t = 0. 323, P>0.05, t =0.041 ,P>0. 05, t = 0.024, P>0. 05; t = 0. 363, P>0.05) in postoperative 6 months. RMS3 and RMSh were significantly elevated in PIOL group compared with ICL group ( t = 11.40, P< 0. 05 ; t = 11.35, P < 0.05), but no evident difference was found in RMS4 between two groups( t = 0. 24,P>0. 05). Conclusion Both PIOL and ICL implantation for high myopia can achieve an equal visual acuity. But clinical outcomes of ICL implantation is much better than PIOL group. A long-term effect should be observed for the further evaluation.

OBJECTIVETo study the effect of tanshinone II A on the cell signal transduction system protein kinase B (Akt) in rats with hypertrophy of the myocardium induced by partial constriction of the thoracic aorta.

METHODSRat models of myocardial hypertrophy were established by the thoracic aorta partial constriction method. Forty-eight rats were randomly divided into the sham-operative group, the model group, the valsartan treatment group, and the low-, medium-, and high-dose tanshinone treatment groups. The heart mass index (HMI), left ventricular mass index (LVMI), ejection fraction (EF), left ventricular posterior wall (LVPW), and interventricular septal thickness (IVS) were detected by high-frequency ultrasonography. The myocardial fiber diameter (MFD) was detected by HE staining, and the contents of p-Akt and p-Gsk3beta in the myocardium were detected by Western blot.

RESULTSCompared with the sham-operative group, the levels of HMI, LVMI, LVPW, IVS, and MFD were increased respectively in the other groups (P<0.05); the contents of p-Akt and p-Gsk3beta were also increased in the other groups. Compared with the model group, the levels of HMI, LVMI, LVPW, IVS, and MFD were decreased respectively in all treatment groups (P<0.05); the contents of p-Akt and p-Gsk3beta were decreased in all treatment groups as well. There was no significant difference, however, among the low-, medium-, and high-dose tanshinone treatment groups and the valsartan treatment group (P>0.05).

CONCLUSIONTanshinone II A can prevent myocardial hypertrophy by its action on the protein kinase B (Akt) signaling pathway.
