Objective To comparison anterior cervical decompression and plating techniques for CSM between under microscope and traditional method retrospectively, investigate clinical result of surgery under microscope. Methods Sixty-seven patients with CSM underwent surgery of anterior cervical decompression and plating techniques were evaluated retrospectively from January 2008 to June 2010. Thirty-three patients underwent operation under microscope; thirty-four patients underwent traditional operation. The operating time, bleeding volume during operating and poster operating, walking time post-operation and complication were observed. Clinical outcomes were assessed by Japanese Orthopaedic Association (JOA), Image of before and after operation. Results Microsurgery operation time averaged of 100 minutes. Bleeding volume during the operation averaged of 60 ml, and after operation averaged of 40 ml. The JOA scores were improved from 8.43 pre-operatively to 14.70. Six months post operation, the average rage of JOA improvement were 83.2%. Traditional operation time averaged of 115 minutes. Bleeding volume during operation averaged of 100 ml, and after operation averaged of 50 ml. The JOA scores were improved from 7.45 pre-operatively to 11.84. Six months post operation, the average rage of JOA improvement were 82.1%. There were difference between two groups(P > 0.05) in the JOA scores. No statistical difference (P < 0.05) in bleeding volume and operating time. Conclusion The operation under microscope is restored significantly than the traditional method in bleeding volume, the surgical field, safety of operation, time of recovery and so on.

Objective To investigate the three-dimensional structure of normal male canine prostat- ic duct and acinus system, and to study the mechanism of intraprostatic urinary reflux(IPUR)resulting from high pressure of the posterior urethra by experiment. Methods Using scanning electron microscopy (SEM)and corrosion casting methods, high pressure of the prostatic urethra was produced based upon IPUR in normal male canines.Acrylonitrile-butadiene-styrene(ABS)casting solution was injected into 8 Beagle canines'normal prostates to induce intraprostatie resin solution reflux. Results Six casting molds of nor- real canine prostate specimens were obtained, and the casting failed in 2.By corrosion and casting treatment, the prostate appeared to consist of several glandular lobes. The columnar apophyses of glandular surface were observed. The most glandular ducts pointed outward from urethral peristome. Each glandular duct system was made up of many bifurcated branches from the bough as a duct tree.More than 90% of the bifurcations were Y-shaped,and 6 bifurcated branches were rarely seen. The tip of the duct was vesicular. The diameter and length of the bough were(0.37?0.14)mm and(1.14?0.04)mm,respectively.The intersectional angle of urethra and peripheral glandular duct was the biggest.Peripheral glandular duct was perpendicular or con- verse to urinary flow.Peripheral glandular aeinus appeared elliptic and velvet. The mesh-like and crater-like depressions were shown on the surface of central glandular aeinus.Ejaculatory ducts independently and branchlessly entered the urethra. Conclusions The resin corrosion casting methods combined with SEM can clearly show the three-dimensional structure of normal male canine prostatic duct and acinus system. IPUR may easily occur in the peripheral glands from the morphological view.It is suggested that prostatitis occurs more commonly in peripheral glands, confirming a fact that high pressure of the posterior urethra can induce IPUR.

Monascus spp.,a kind of filamentous fungi, produce abundant of important metabolites which were widely used in the fields of food and medicine.Until now, there are few reports on the important functional genes of the Monascus spp.due to little genetic information. In this paper, the feasibility of gene deletion mediated via Agrobacterium tumefaciens on the basis of homologous recombination was analyzed by studying on the deletion of the RGS domain of putative G-protein signaling regulator gene mrfA in Monascus ruber. The length of homologous arms of deletion vector pC805S were 958 bp and 824 bp,respectively. There were 26 transformants in which homologous recombination occurred in 138 transformants and the recombination rate was 18.8%.The result showed it was feasible to identify the function of unknown gene in M.ruber with the targeted-deletion technology mediated via A.tumefaciens.

Objective To study the effects of airborne particles exposure on the micronucleus frequency of human binucleate lymphocytes. Methods Airborne particles were collected at a residential area of Taiyuan city with classification air samplers. The organic substance was extracted by dichloromethane acetone and methanol in a Soxhlet apparatus. Four metals,Ni Pb Cd and Cr in airborne particles were extracted by 1∶1 nitric acid and determined by atomic absorption spectrophotometry. The mutagenicity of the extracts of airborne particles was studied with cytokinesis-locking assay. Results The content of airborne particles in the area was 0.791 9 mg/m3exceeded the related standard by 4.28 times. The small particles contained more metals elements and organic substances than the big particles. The extracts of airborne particles induced a significant increase in micronucleus production P

Objective To discuss the surgical outcome of fenestration assistant by microscopy for single-level lumbar disc protrusion (LDH), compared with tradition laminotomy and discectomy. Methods From January 2008 to January 2010, forty-eight patients underwent traditional open discectomy and 40 underwent microscopy surgery. The lumbar disc protrusion involved L3- L4 level in 12 cases, L4-L5 level in 46 cases, and L5-S1 level in 30 cases; preoperative JOA score was 8-19 points (average 12.9 points) for traditional open discectomy patients and 7-19 points (average 12.7 points) for microscopy surgery patients. Results Cauda equina injury was occurred and repaired in 2 cases in traditional surgery group. The follow-up period was 10-34 months (average 18 months) for all patients. No complications such as wrong orientation, nerve root injury, and infection occurred. The JOA score 10 months after operation was (24.0 ± 2.6) for traditional surgery patients with 87.5% success rate and (24.2 ± 2.8) for microscopy surgery patients with 90% success rate. Conclusion Two methods have similar clinical outcomes, but microscopy assistant fenestration for LDH has advantages of minimal invasion, shorter operative time, shorter length of hospital stay and less intraoperative blood loss. It is one of ideal minimally invasive operations for single-level lumbar disc protrusion.

BACKGROUND:Previous studies have shown that different doses of ionizing radiation may have some impact on maturation and immune function of dendritic cells. OBJECTIVE:To evaluate the effect of 18 F-FDG with different concentrations on maturation and immune function of dendritic cells from human peripheral blood mononuclear cells in vitro. METHODS:Human peripheral blood mononuclear cells-derived mature dendritic cells were divided into five groups:PBS, 92.5×10 4, 185×104, 370×104, 740×104 Bq/mL 18 F-FDG were separately added into each group. Dendritic cells were col ected 24 hours later. Apoptosis rate, phenotypic expression (CD1α, CD80, CD83, CD86, HLA-DR), ability of mixed lymphocyte reaction and expression of macrophage inflammatory protein 1αand monocyte chemotactic factor-1 in cellculture supernatant were detected. RESULTS AND CONCLUSION:Apoptosis rate, phenotypic expression of CD86, ability of mixed lymphocyte reaction and expression of monocyte chemotactic factor-1 were down-regulated after culture in 740×10 4 Bq/mL 18F-FDG. However, 18F-FDG at other concentrations had no influence on maturation and immune function of dendritic cells. This study demonstrates that low-concentration 18F-FDG has little influence on apoptosis, maturation, antigen presentation, and migratory capacity of dendritic cells, and it may be selected at an appropriate concentration as a label for dendritic cells in vitro.

AIM: To explore the localization and expression of transfo rming grow th factor-? 1,2 (TGF-? 1,2 ) and alpha-smooth muscle actin (?- ASMA) in fetal a nd adult skins. METHODS: Skins of 15 cases of fetuses with different gestational ages and 5 cases of adults were taken, embedded with paraffin wax, and sectione d. Immunohistochemistry method and pathological method were used to detect the e xpression intensity and distribution of TGF-? 1,2 and ?-ASMA. RESULTS: Positive immunohistochemical signals of TGF-? 1,2 and ?-A SMA were found in fetal and adult skins. In skins derived from young fet us, the positive signals of these three proteins were very weak. Along with the incr ement in gestational age, the positive cellular rates of TGF-? 1,2 and ?- ASMA were elevated pro gressively. In elder fetal and adult skins, TGF-? 1,2 were mostly distributed i n epidermal cells, endothelial cells and some fibroblasts, while ?-ASMA was mainly located in myofibroblasts and sweat gland epithelial cells. CONCLUSION: The endo genous TGF-? 1,2 might be involved in the cutaneous development at embryoni c stage, in the cutaneous structure maintenance at adult stage, and in the wound healing af ter injury.
