Objective:To investigate the protective effects of acupuncture pretreatment on ischemic myocardium, the protective mechanism of acupuncture pretreatment on ischemic myocardium was explored by observing the cardiac muscle cell apoptosis and the expression of HSP70 mRNA of ischemia-reperfusion injury rats treated with acupuncture pretreatment.Methods:Sixty-four Wistar rats were randomly divided into eight groups:control group, sham surgery group,ischemia-repertusion group, ischemia pretreatment group, manual acupuncture pretreatment group(once a day),electroacupuncture pretreatment group(once a day),manual acupuncture pretreatment group(twice a day),and electroacupuncture pretreatment group(twice a day). The reperfusion model of rat myocardial ischemia was made.Expression of HSP70 mRNA was assayed by in situ hyrbridization, and cell apoptosis by TUNEL.Results:Compared with those in the control group and the sham surgery group, the apoptosis and the expression of HSP70 mRNA were increased in the ischemia-reperfusion group.Compared with those in the ischemia-reperfusion group, the cardiac muscle cell apoptosis was decreased and the HSP70 mRNA was increased in the rats treated with acupuncture pretreatment;meanwhile, acupuncture pretreatment twice a day had stronger effects than acupuncture pretreatment once a day and ischemia pretreatment. Conclusion:Acupuncture pretreatment can inhibit the cardiac muscle cell apoptosis, and up-regulate the expression of HSP70 mRNA in ischemia-reperfusion rats.Acupuncture pretreatment twice a day has stronger effects than pretreatment once a day.

Journal of China Pharmaceutical University 2024;55(1):36-44
C-C motif chemokine ligand 2 (CCL2) and its receptor CCR2 are closely related to tumorigenesis and tumor progression. The CCL2/CCR2 signaling axis promotes tumor progression through multiple mechanisms: CCL2 binds to CCR2 on the surface of tumor cells, and thus promotes tumor growth/survival and metastasis; more importantly, CCL2 recruits a variety of immunosuppressive cells to aggregate in the tumor microenvironment, and inhibits the function and activity of immune cells, promoting tumor progression. The article reviews the CCL2/CCR2 signaling axis and its role in tumors and tumor microenvironment, with particular focus on the advances in clinical research on drugs targeting CCL2/CCR2 signaling axis, in order to gain an in-depth and overall understanding of the mechanism of action of CCL2/CCR2 axis in tumor progression and develop more effective anti-tumor immunotherapeutic agents.

Objective To investigate the imaging features of dysplasia epiphysealis hemimelica (DEH).Methods Thirteen cases of DEH confirmed by pathology (between 1.5 to 19.0 years old)underwent X-ray scan.Additionally,CT scan was performed in one patient,MR scan was performed in one,and CT and MR scan were both performed in one. Results The lesions all occurred in lower limb. There were 32 lesions, and multiple lesions were detected in 8 cases.Lesions involved holo-epiphyses in 6 cases,Twenty-three lesions were in the medial limbs,3 were in the lateral limb. With Azouz classification, the limited form was identified in 5 cases, while the classic form was identified in 8 cases.Among 13 cases, there were 4 cases with ankle eversion,3 cases with the knock knee,2 cases with the ankle inversion, and 2 cases with the strephexopodia. The metaphysis of 8 cases were widened and deformed, and the provisional zone of calcification of 1case disappeared partly and the epiphysis closed prematurely. Conclusions One or multiple eccentric enlarged ossification center of unilateral or bilateral limb is the imaging feature of DEH.There is sporadic calcification or ossification on the prophase. The calcification or ossification can fuse each other to form agglomerate at the advanced stage. The bone can deform and shift when compressed by the mass, and bone defect can even occur.

Objective To evaluate the relationship between ambulatory arterial stiffness index (AASI) and intracranial and extracranial arterial stenosis in 146 patients with ischemic cerebrovascular disease. Methods Degree of intracranial and extracranial arterial stenosis in 146 patients with ischemic cerebrovascular disease was assessed by CT angiography (CTA). Then all patients were divided into 4 groups according to the numbers of branches with stenosis: no stenosis group, 1 branch group, 2 branches group, and 3 and more than 3 branches group. Dynamic blood pressure was monitored to calculate the AASI. Results There was no significant difference of AASI among the extracranial arterial stenosis groups (P=0.614). AASI was positively correlated with the degree of intracranial artery stenosis (r=0.743, P<0.05), and with 3 and more intracranial artery branches stenosis (r=0.797, P<0.05). Conclusion AASI is closely correlated with the degree and numbers of branches of intracranial artery stenosis.

BACKGROUND: Following peripheral nerve transplantation, the time phases and law of growth associated protein 43 (GAP-43) expression in sensory neuron soma of the corresponding dorsal root ganglia remain unclear.OBJECTIVE: To investigate the expression of GAP-43 at the corresponding dorsal root ganglia following sciatic nerve transplantation in rats.METHODS: Adult male Wistar rats were randomly divided into 2 groups: control group (sham-operated group) and experimental group (nerve transplantation group). The rats were killed at 3 days, 1, 2, 4, 6, and 8 weeks after operation and the dorsal root ganglia U-s of every rat was taken for observation. The expression of GAP-43 mRNA and protein in the corresponding segments of spinal cord were detected by RT-PCR and Western-blot techniques.RESULTS AND CONCLUSION: GAP-43 mRNA showed a low level of expression in the control group, which had no obvious changes in different phases. In the experimental group, GAP-43 mRNA expression was observed remarkably in the dorsal root ganglia at the first week, reached a peak at the second week and gradually descended from the sixth week. The GAP-43 protein expression showed the same laws as that of GAP-43 mRNA. The results demonstrated that there exists damage reactivity change in the regeneration ability of neurons.
