[Objective]To evaluate outcome of the treatment of unstable distal radius fractures in the elderly patient using a volar T-shape plate.[Method]From January 2001 to April 2003,42 cases with unstable distal radius fractures older than 60 years(range 60~75 years;mean age 65.1 years) were treated with a T-shape plate fixation. The fractures were classified according to the AO classification of distal radius fracture: 4 A2,7 A3,5 B1,3 B3,9 C l,11 C2,3 C3.Artificial bone graft substitutes were used in 28 cases with severe cortex destruction and insufficient buttress.[Result]All patients were followed up(mean 18.2months,range 12~24months).Final volar tilt was averaged 3.66? and radial tilt 20.1?,and radial shortening averaged 1.59 mm in 6 cases.Step-off or gap of the articular surface was found in 6 cases(mean

Objective To explore the clinical characteristics and the prognosis of benin convulsions as-sociated with mild gastroenteritis( BICE) in children. Methods To study clinical features of 248 children with BCIE,they followed up for 12 months, and their prognosis were observe. Results Age between 3 months and 3 years, twice or more seizures were occurred on 124 patients. 64 patients suffered the seizures more than 30 mi-nutes. Cranial CT/MRI showed no abnormality. Laboratory examinations were normal, including plasma glu-cose,serum electrolytes and cerebrospinal fluid. Followed up for 12 months,14 patients (5. 6%) suffered from recurrence of BICE,12 patients (4. 8%) suffered from simple febrile seizures, and 8 patients (3. 2%) devel-oped epilepsy. Conclusion The prognosis is good in majority of cases, but some cases may transform febrile seizure or epilepsy. It is more likely to transform epilepsy, when the children suffer from febrile seizure.

A size exclusion chromatography method ( SEC) was established for the screening of macromolecules in traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) injections. In the experiment, TCM was collected through 0. 45μm hybrid filter and separated by SEC with MAbPac SEC-1 column. Acetonitrile was added by post-column mode with a flow rate of 0. 2 mL/min to enhance the detection sensitivity, and 25 mmol/L ammonium formate was used as the mobile phase at flow rate of 0. 2 mL/min. The charged aerosol detection was carried out with Dextran and Tween as the reference standards. The molecular weight distribution of Dextran ranged from 2500 to 133800 had a good linear relationship with the retention time. No macromolecules were detected out in the selected traditional Chinese medicine injections except Kuhuang injections.

Objective Using 16S rRNA gene sequencing as the gold standard method,to compare the performance of two matrix-assisted laser desorption ionization time of flight mass spectrometry system (MALDI Biotyper and VITEK MS) for identifying clinical isolates of Streptococcus spp. Methods One hundred and sixty two clinical Streptococcus isolates were collected at the Second Affiliated Hospital of Zhejiang University, from April to June,2014,and confirmed by 16S rRNA gene sequencing analysis.MALDI Biotyper and VITEK MS mass spectrometry system were used for identification and further evaluated by performance respectively. Results Of all the isolates tested,155 (155/162,95.68%) Streptococcus isolates were accurately identified to species level by MALDI Biotyper.Besides,MALDI Biotyper identified three Streptococcus mitis group as S.pneumoniae and one S.parasanguinis as S.australis.Another three S.pneumonia isolates were not identified accurately (values < 1.7).Although 156 (156/162,96.30%) isolates were accurately identified to species level (including subspecies) by VITEK MS system, two S.pneumoniae as S.mitis/S.oralis and one S.euinus as S.infantarius ssp.infantarius were misidentified. The two systems showed a 100% (51/51) accuracy in identifying all S.pyogenes and S.agalactiae isolates, and an accuracy higher than 85% for S.pneumoniae.Conclusions Both systems showed potent identification ability for Streptococcus spp.,VITEK MS system showed more clinical significance in accurately identifying some subspecies.Mass spectrometry system can be used as a rapid identification method for Streptococcs spp.in clinical practice.

The JC virus is a widely infected human polyomavirus. Recent foreign researches showed that the JC virus infection is correlated with tumors of nervous system and digestive system, while, and study on the relationship between JC virus infection and gynecological tumor is seldom reported. In this study, we first establish the nucleic acid detection methods and procedures for JC virus and its highly homologous BK virus. The JC and BK viruses infection was evaluated by detect the viral DNA in samples including biopsy tissues, serum as well as urine of myoma of uterus (98 cases), cervical cancer (84 cases), endometrial cancer (40 cases) and ovarian tumor (72 cases) patients. The BK viral DNA positive rate was significantly higher in urine samples than that of blood and biopsy samples, and there is no significant difference of the BK viral DNA positive rate among all patient groups. The JC viral DNA positive rate is almost 0 in serum samples and biopsy. tissues, however, viral DNA positive rate is more than 50% in urine samples. In fibroids group, the JC viral DNA positive rate is up to 65. 3% which is significantly higher than that in other patients groups and healthy control. Further gynecological tumor associated viruses detection showed that only human papilloma virus infection is associated with cervical cancer, the herpes simplex virus, EB virus and cytomegalovirus infection is extremely low in our patient groups. No synergistic effect on gynecological tumor caused by viruses co-infection was observed. Our study showed that JC virus infection is highly related to the pathogenesis of uterine fibroids.

Chinese Pharmacological Bulletin 2009;25(12):1559-1562
The mechanism of spinal cord injury and repair therapy after nerve injury is currently a hotspot of neuroscience research.Duplicating animal models plays a key role in experimental therapeutics of spinal cord injury. This review systematically describes the progress in animal models for spinal cord injury including contusion, compression, transection, ischemic, distraction and chemical-mediated injury, which have been established at home and abroad.Based upon the aforementioned models, some applications in experimental therapeutics are simultaneously enumerated. All these information provides scientific guidance for the experimental novel drugs′screening.
