1.Intervention studies based on the strength model of self-control:A review
Chinese Mental Health Journal 2015;(5):366-371
The strength model of self-control suggests that the exertion of self-control depends on a limited resource. Intervention studies over the years have aimed to improve participants'self-control via increasing their ca-pacity for the resource or decreasing their consumption of it. We conducted a review of the literature to provide summarized updates on the advances made in the intervention studies that have been conducted based on the strength model. The findings suggest that various behavior-training methods can build greater capacity for self-con-trol resource. Meanwhile, several behavior-training methods, mindfulness, and ingestion of glucose may also effec-tively slow down or enhance the recovery of ego-depletion. Future studies may further explore the mechanisms through which the behavior-training exert its positive influence. Similarly,to improve the ecological validity,it is recommended that future studies pay more attention to a wide range of self-control tasks. Qualitative studies are also wanted. Additionally,to improvethe daily life applications of the various intervention techniques, these sorts of stud-ies have the propensity to improve the practical significance of the strength model of self-control.

Objective:To explore the effect of the solution-focused brief group counseling on relieving procrastination of graduate students. Methods:Totally 33 graduate students with procrastination [the score of Pure Procrastination Scale (PPS) was more than or equal to 3.5] were selected through the Internct. They were randomly divided into two groups,17 in the ordinary counseling group (ordinary group) and 16 in the solution-focused counseling group (SF group).Samples in the SF group were given the solution-focused brief group counseling, while the ordinary group was given ordinary group counseling. The General Self-efficacy Scale (GSES),Self-control Scale (SCS) and Pure Procrastination Scale (PPS) were used to get the outcome of graduate students at baseline, the time after the group counseling (1 week follow-up,1 month follow-up).Results:The interactive effect between group and time of SCS,PPS were statistically significant (Ps <0.01).Separate analyses showed that there was no significant difference between two groups in all variables at baseline (Ps >0.05).At the end of the group counseling, the SCS scores were higher in the SF group than in the Ordinary group, and the PPS scores were lower in the SF group than in the Ordinary group. Conclusion:It suggests that solution-focused brief group counseling could improve selfcontrol and relieve procrastination.

Objective To explore the differences between schizophrenic patients and normal at prospective memory, and investigate the effect of personality intermediary between schizophrenia and prospective memory. Methods A case-control study was utilized in this research. It used the color matching task to test prospective memory and MMPI-2 scale to test personality differences between the two groups. Results Schizophrenia prospective memory score(19.29±2.30),lower than the normal group(44.74±2.06),the difference was significant(P<0.01).In mediating effect on the personality inspection, the subscales within MMPI-2 of Social Scale(Si) and Anxiety and tension Scale(ANX) regression coefficients were tested(P<0.05),which showed significant effect.Further analysis with sobel statistics showed that only one factor tested was significant. The test coefficients of depression scale (D),mental weakness scale (Pt) and schizophrenia scale (Sc) were significantly different (P< 0.05),which showed that these subscales also had significant mediating effect. Conclusion The prospective memory performance is low in schizophrenia. The personality characteristics that depression, mental weakness, schizo phrenia, social anxiety and tension play an intermediary role in schizophrenia and prospective memory.

ObjectiveTo explore the influences of perceived social support and social evaluations( including trust in others, government and social organizations, satisfaction of the government and social organizations, and satisfaction with the disaster relief and reconstruction work)on disaster area adults'life satisfaction after the Yushu earthquake.MethodsWith perceived social support scale (PSSS),satisfaction with life scale (SWLS) and self made survey,370 Tibetan adults were investigated, and the average age was 32.99 ± 12.66.Results ①Perceived fricnds' support( r =0.24,P < 0.01 ),perceived others' support ( r =0.15,P < 0.01 ),trust in others, government and social organizations ( r =0.19,P < 0.01 ),satisfaction with the government and social organizations ( r =0.14,P < 0.05) and satisfaction with the disaster relief and reconstruction work ( r=0.17,P < 0.01 )had significant positive correlations with Yushu adults'life satisfaction.②Perceived friends' support ( β =0.21,P < 0.01 )and trust in others, government and social organizations(β =0.27,P<0.05) were significant predictors of Yushu adults'life satisfaction.ConclusionPerceived friends'support and trust in others, government and social organizations can play an important role in Yushu adults'life satisfaction after the earthquake.

Objective To compare the efficacies and prognoses of stereotactic radiosurgery and fractionated stereotactic radiosurgery in treatment of brain metastases of lung cancer with diameter of 3-7 cm.Methods A retrospective study of 80 patients with brain metastases from lung cancer with diameter of 3-7 cm treated with gamma knife in our hospital from April 2010 to November 2016 was performed. There were 46 patients in stereotactic radiosurgery group and 34 in fractionated stereotactic radiosurgery group. The local tumor rate, incidence of complications, changes ofperitumoral edema, and Kamofsky Performance Status (KPS) scale scores at 3 months after operation were compared between the two groups.Multi-factor Cox regression model was used to analyze the factors influencing the short-term efficacy of patients.Kaplan-Meier survival analysis was used to evaluate the survival rate of patients. Results Three months after operation, the local tumor control rate and incidence of complications were 73.9% and 21.7% in the stereotactic radiosurgery group, and 94.1% and 2.94% in the fractionated stereotactic radiosurgery group, with significant differences (P<0.05).As compared with those in the stereotactic radiosurgery group, the percentage of patients with increased grading ofperitumoral edema was significantly decreased and percentage of patients with increased KPS scores was significantly increased in fractionated stereotactic radiosurgery group (P<0.05).Multivariate Cox analysis showed that tumor diameter was the only statistically significant risk factor for prognosis (P<0.05).The median survival time was 13.6 months in the stereotactic radiosurgery group and 16 months in the fractionated stereotactic radiosurgery group. The one-year survival rate and accumulate survival rate showed no significant differences between the two groups (P>0.05).Conclusion As compared with stereotactic radiosurgery therapy, fractionated stereotactic radiosurgery has more advantages in the treatment of lung cancer brain metastases with diameter of 3-7 cm.
