International Journal of Traditional Chinese Medicine 2017;39(5):412-415
Objective To observe the effect of complex sophorae injection combined with FOLFOX4 on Th17 cells, IL-17 and survival rate in patients with rectal cancer. Methods A total of 128 patients with rectal cancer were sellected in this study. The patients were divided into the control group (n=64) and observation group (n=64). The control group received the treatment of FOLFOX4 regimen, and the observation group received the treatment of FOLFOX4 regimen and sophorae injection. The Th17 cells were detected by flow cytometry, and IL-17 by ELISA assay. Results After treatment, the Th17 cells (11.28% ± 2.42%vs. 13.12% ± 3.15%,t=2.376) and IL-17 (16.58 ± 3.26 ng/mlvs. 21.84 ± 4.12 ng/ml,t=2.391) in observation group was lower than those in control group (P<0.05). After treatment, the effective rate (60.9%vs. 43.8%,χ2=2.384) and control rate (92.2%vs. 81.3%,χ2=2.371) in observation group was higher than that in control group (P<0.05). The different levels of white blood cells (37.5%vs. 60.9%,χ2=2.417), anemia (35.9%vs. 59.3%,χ2=2.421), thrombocytopenia (34.4%vs. 62.5%,χ2=2.432), nervous system toxicity (15.6%vs. 37.5%,χ2=2.458), gastrointestinal tract reaction (21.9%vs. 43.8%,χ2=2.453), oral mucositis incidence (28.1%vs. 57.8%,χ2=2.451) in observation group were lower than those in control group (P<0.05). The 1 year survival rate was 79.7% (51/64) in observation group,, which was higher than that of 60.9% (39/64) in control group (χ2=2.414,P<0.05).Conclusions The complex sophorae injection combined with FOLFOX4 regimen can reduce Th17 cells and IL-17 in patients with rectal cancer, improve survival rate, and reduce the clinical toxicity of chemotherapy drugs.
2.Laboratory diagnosis of EBV infection in children
Chinese Journal of Laboratory Medicine 2015;38(4):223-225
Epstein-Barr virus (EBV) remains one of the most important pathogens in children, which usually causes acute EBV infection, chronic active EBV infection, hemophagocytic lymphohistiocytosis, lymphoma and other cancers. Therefore, effective laboratory diagnosis is of importance in diagnosis, surveillance, and control of EBV-associated disease.Currently,a variety of detection methods have been applied in clinical laboratories and typical diagnostic assays are always focusing on EBV-DNA and serological tests.Different assays vary in different purposes and applications, which seems to be difficult to choose an appropriate technique. This article aims at systematically analyzing clinical significance of these assays and evaluating the immune functions of EBV infection and the detection of susceptibility genes of EBV-related disease.

OBJECTIVE: To compare the effects of manipulation treatment and transcutaneous electrical nerve stimulation (TENS) on patients with cervicogenic headache. METHODS: Seventy patients with cervicogenic headache were randomly allocated to receive manipulation treatment and TENS treatment, which were given every other day respectively for total 40 days. The headache degree (numeric rating scale, NRS), frequency, lasting time and the range of motion (ROM) of the cervical spine 2 weeks before treatment and 4 weeks after treatment, were compared. RESULTS: Before treatment, there were no significant differences in the headache NRS scores , frequency, lasting time and the ROM scores between the two groups (P>0.05). After treatment, the headache NRS score, frequency, lasting time in the manipulation group decreased significantly (P<0.01), while in the TENS group just the headache NRS score decreased significantly (P<0.05). The ROM scores in both groups showed no significant changes (P>0.05). The response rate of manipulation treatment is 94.5%, significantly higher than 64.5% of TENS treatment (P<0.05). CONCLUSION: The manipulation treatment is an effective method for patients with cervicogenic headache.

Objective To explore sinus heart rate turbulence (HRT) in patients with different subtypes of essential hypertension (EH), and analyze the relationship between HRT and autonomic nervous system function damage in these patients. Methods The study consisted of 107 patients with EH (EH group) and 46 controls (control group). Based on 24 hours dynamic electrocardiogram, all patients were divided into dipper,non-dipper,and anti-dipper blood pressure group. The indexes about HRT and heart rate variability (HRV) among these groups were calculated and compared, and the relationship between turbulence onset (TO),turbulence slope (TS) and 24 hours mean systolic blood pressure, diastolic blood pressure was analyzed. Results There were significant differences in TO,TS,SDNN between EH group and control group(P < 0.05 ). TO in non-dipper and anti-dipper blood pressure group was significantly higher than that in control group( P < 0.05 ), and TS was lower than that in control group(P < 0.05 ). There was no significant difference in TO,TS between dipper blood pressure group and control group (P > 0.05). TO in non-dipper and anti-dipper blood pressure group was significantly higher than that in dipper blood pressure group, but TS was lower than that in dipper blood pressure group (P <0.05). Correlation analysis showed that TO had positive relationship with average heart rate and age (rs = 0.265, P = 0.004;rs = 0.217, P = 0.018 ), but had negative correlation with SDNN and left ventricular ejection fraction (LVEF) (rx = -0.287,P = 0.002;rx =-0. 179, P = 0.049). Whereas, TS had negative correlation with average heart rate and age (r = -0.335, P =0.015 ;r = -0.238,P= 0.009), but had positive relationship with SDNN and LVEF(r = 0.540,P = 0.001 ;r =0.432,P = 0.001 ). Conclusions HRT of EH patients becomes significantly low. It suggests that the autonomic nerve function in EH patients be injured seriously.

Measurement of cervical lordosis is the basic method for evaluating cervical function, and important reference for determine treatment decision. However, how to choose appropriate measurement in accordance with different situation, as well as the relationship among these methods is not clear. An increasing number of studies suggested that different measurements could directly affect the judgment of cervical lordosis. Therefore, comparative study of cervical vertebrae plays an important role in clinical treatment for cervical spondylosis under different cervical curvature conditions.

Objective: To observe the efficacy of acupuncture combined with sitting-position knee-adjustment manipulations in treating patellofemoral osteoarthritis. Methods: Ninety-two patients with patellofemoral osteoarthritis were randomized into an observation group and a medication group, with 46 cases in each group. The observation group received acupuncture and sitting-position knee-adjustment manipulations, and the medication group received oral celecoxib capsules. After 8-week treatment, changes in the short-form McGill pain questionnaire (SF-MPQ) and Lysholm knee scoring scale (LKSS) scores were observed, and the clinical efficacy was compared. Results: The total effective rate was 87.0% in the observation group and 63.0% in the control group; the between- group difference was statistically significant. Before treatment, there were no significant differences in the SF-MPQ score or LKSS score (P>0.05). After 8-week treatment, the SF-MPQ [including pain rating index (PRI), visual analog scale (VAS), and present pain intensity (PPI)] and LKSS scores showed notable changes in both groups (P<0.05); the SF-MPQ and LKSS scores in the observation group were significantly different from those in the control group (P<0.05).Conclusion: Combining acupuncture and sitting-position knee-adjustment manipulations can reduce pain and ameliorate joint function in patients with patellofemoral osteoarthritis, producing more significant efficacy than oral celecoxib capsules.
