OBJECTIVE: To evaluate the efficacy of reduced glutathione in the treatment of drug-induced liver disease. METHODS: Literatures were retrieved from PubMed, Medline, EMBASE, Cochrane Library, CBM, VIP, CNKI databases by computer and from relevant Chinese medical journals by hand. Trial selection, quality evaluation and information extraction were performed according to including and excluding criteria. Meta-analysis was conducted using RevMan 5.0 software. OBJECTIVE: To evaluate the efficacy of Xuezhikang in the treatment of type 2 diabetes with hyperlipoidemia. METHODS: Retrieved from Cochrane Library, PubMed, EMBASE, CBM, VIP and CNKI databases and related periodicals, included randomized controlled trails (RCTs) was evaluated in quality. Meta-analysis was conducted with RevMan 5.0 software. RESULTS: The meta-analysis of 6 included RCT showed that the improvement of TC, TG, LDL-C, HDL-C, FBS, 2 h-BS, HbA1c, UAE in trial group were different from control group. There was statistical significance in difference between 2 groups. CONCLUSION: Routine glycemic control combined with Xuezhikang has better effect than routine glycemic control in the treatment of type 2 diabetes with hyperlipoidemia. Because the number and quality of included study are not satisfactory, the study result should be confirmed by randomized double-blind controlled trial.

Objective To investigate the effect of parathyroid hormone (PTH) on the transition and connective tissue growth factor (CTGF) expression of human renal proximal tubular epithelial cell line HK-2 . Methods The expression of CTGF mRNA and protein of HK-2 cells were measured by real time RT-PCR and Western blot respectively . The effect of PTH on the phenotypic transformation of HK-2 cells was examined by light microscopy . The expression of α-smooth muscle actin (α-SMA) in HK-2 cells was detected by immunofluorescence . Results Basal level of CTGF mRNA and the protein expression were detected in HK-2 ceils . PTH upregulated the expression of CTGF mRNA and protein with the maximal response at the concentration of 10-10 mol/L and the best stimulating time was at 72 h . After exposure to PTH (10-10tool/L) for 12 hours, the highest level of luciferase activity was 1 .96 fold as compared to control (1 .888±0 .078 vs 0 .989±0 .030, P＜0 .01 ) . Untreated cells showed negligible expression of ±-SMA,whereas ±-SMA expression was significantly increased in cells treated with PTH . Conclusion PTH up-regulates CTGF expression and induces transition of HK-2 cells .

A 59?year?old female patient, who received bilateral lower limb amputation 39 years ago, presented with eczematoid changes in both lower limbs for over 20 years, and with chronic granuloma?like lesions complicated by verrucous hyperplasia for more than 10 years. There were large areas of infiltrative and proliferative lesions with exudation and peripheral erythema at the amputation sites in both knee joints. The lesions were hard with tenderness on palpation. Microscopic examination of lesional scales with 10%KOH showed negative results for fungi. However, three times of culture on the Sabouraud dextrose agar(SDA)medium all grew the same kind of fungus, and the front side and reverse side of its filamentous colony were white and orange yellow respectively. Microculture showed that linear hyaline conidiophores came out from lageniform mother cells with conidia ascending alongside. The conidia looked like dark brown eye lens, with an equatorial germ slit. Based on these findings, this fungus was identified as Arthrinium phaeospermum. Periodic acid?Schiff (PAS) staining showed scattered hyphae in the stratum corneum. The internal transcribe spacer(ITS)sequence of the isolated fungus showed 99%consistency with that of Arthrinium phaeospermum. The patient was diagnosed with cutaneous Arthrinium phaeospermum infection, and treated with oral itraconazole capsules 200 mg/d for 16 days. One month later, follow?up showed satisfactory outcomes.

Objective:To investigate the application value of lauromacrogol in the treatment of varicose veins of lower limb.Methods:The medical records of 75 patients (75 affected limbs) with varicosis of great saphenous vein of lower limbs confirmed between September 2013 and September 2015 were analyzed retrospectively.According to the treatment regimen,the patients were divided into two groups.Among them,33 cases (33 limbs) treated by ultrasound guided injection of foam sclerosing agent lauromacrogol were included in the lauromacrogol group while 42 cases (42 limbs) treated by high ligation of great saphenous vein combined with stripping were included in the operation group.The operation time,intraoperative blood loss,off-bed time,treatment costs and incidence of postoperative complications were recorded.Patients were followed up for 6 to 12 months after operation,and the recurrence rate was recorded.Results:The operation time,off-bed and length of hospital stay of the lauromacrogol group were shorter than those of the operation group;the intraoperative blood loss and hospitalization expenses were less than those of the operation group (P＜0.05);The incidence rates of subcutaneous hematoma and skin numbness in the lauromacrogol group were significantly lower than those in the operation group (P＜0.05);The 12-month recurrence rate in the lauromacrogol group (12.12％) was lower than that in the operation group (33.33％)(P＜0.05).Conclusion:Injection of foam sclerosing agent lauromacrogol is an alternative minimally invasive therapy for treating varicosis of great saphenous vein of lower limbs.

OBJECTIVETo explore the application value of the high-frequency ultrasound examination of the normal adult sciatic nerve.

METHODSThe high frequency ultrasound was used to examine 60 cases ,a total of 120 normal adult sciatic nerve (28 males and 32 females ranging in age from 19 to 38 years old, averaged 23.8 years old). The age between men and women, height and weight showed no significant difference. The cross-sectional scanning and longitudinal scanning, if necessary, Panoramic Imaging were conducted. The cross section area of sciatic nerve was measured at the hip line, the middle of the thigh, the edge of the popliteal fossa, and the relationship betwen the sciatic nerve and surrounding muscle group was observed in each cross-section. Probe was rotated 90 degree to display the long axis of sciatic nerve, to get the longitudinal section along the long axis from top to bottom. So the sciatic nerve in the vertical axis and the surrouunding muscles was displayed by above method combined with panoramic imaging. The data of coss-sectional area of sciatic nerve were obtained at the central of hip line, the middle of the thigh, the edge of the popliteal fossa, and then were divided into different groups by gender and sides to do statistical analysis.

RESULTSThe applicatic nerve in thigh can be clearly displayed by high-frequency ultrasound in this group of 60 people with 120 nerves, but low display rate of sciatic nerve in hip, approximatley 31.4% (21/66). The longitudinal section of the sciatic nerve displayed as the banded isoechoic or slightly hyperechoic, parallel partial hyperechoic line could be seen in it; in the cross-section, it showed a clear edge of the sieve-like isoechoic or slightly hyperechnie, which could be oval ,trapezoidal, triangular and irregular in shape; the sciatic nerve bad visible passive movement and shape change when muscle contracted. There were statistically significant differences of cross-sectional area of sciatic nerves at the hip line ,the middle of thigh and edge of the popliteal fossa between 56 sciatic nerves in 28 males and 64 sciatic nerves in 32 females (P< 0.05); but there were no significant differences between left and right sides (P>0.05).

CONCLUSIONHigh frequency ultrasound can be used as the first choice of the sciatic nerve when an imaging method preferred.

OBJECTIVEThe main objective of this study is to assess the the effect of simvastatin (sim) on myocardial no-reflow (NR) and explore the possible potential mechanisms.

METHODSAdult male Wistar rats were randomized into sham group (n = 12), I/R (90 min ischemia via coronary ligation/120 min reperfusion, n = 18) and I/R plus sim group (20 mgxkg(-1)xd(-1) sim pretreated via gavage beginning 3 days before I/R, n = 18). After reperfusion, area at risk/area of left ventricular (RA/LVA), area of NR, determined by the area not perfused by thioflavin-S/area at risk (NA/RA) and area of myocardial infarction/area at risk (MIA/RA) were measured. Myocardium homogenate was used to determine the activity of eNOS, iNOS and MPO, and the content of NO and MDA. Myocardial immunohistochemistry was performed to determine the positive index of NF-kappaB p65 in cardiomyocytes and arteriole.

RESULTSThe NR and myocardial infarction areas in I/R plus sim group were significantly smaller than those in I/R group (34.10 +/- 7.05 vs. 52.09 +/- 6.89, 78.80 +/- 7.60 vs. 90.13 +/- 5.72, each P < 0.05) while the ischemia area was similar between the 2 groups (P > 0.05). The myocardial activities of iNOS and MPO, the contents of NO and MDA were significantly lower while eNOS activity was significantly higher in I/R plus sim group than those in I/R group (5.02 +/- 1.64 vs. 9.19 +/- 2.89, 586.21 +/- 126.97 vs. 744.49 +/- 137.53, 257.72 +/- 93.43 vs. 384.10 +/- 40.68, 72.10 +/- 18.56 vs. 111.84 +/- 38.58, 7.08 +/- 1.74 vs. 3.72 +/- 0.98, all P < 0.05). The positive index of NF-kappaB p65 in cardiocytes and arteriole at left ventricular wall near the area of myocardial infarction was significantly lower in I/R plus sim group than that in I/R group (21.59 +/- 10.5 vs. 34.32 +/- 9.55, 27.27 +/- 13.19 vs. 44.91 +/- 15.06, each P < 0.05).

CONCLUSIONSimvastatin could improve myocardial NR after ischemia-reperfusion by attenuating endothelial dysfunction and inhibiting inflammation and neutrophil activation.

OBJECTIVETo compare the therapeutic effects of acupuncture and Motilium on diabetic gastroparesis (DGP).

METHODSSeventy-two cases of DGP were randomly divided into a treatment group and a control group. The treatment group were treated with needling method for harmonizing spleen-stomach as main, with Quchi (LI 11), Hegu (LI 4), Zhongwan (CV 12), Zusanli (ST 36), Fenglong (ST 40), Yinlingquan (SP 9), Sanyinjiao (SP 6), Xuehai (SP 10), Diji (SP 8), and others selected, twice each day, 10 days constituting one course, with an in terval of 2 days; the control group were treated with oral administration of Motilium 10 mg, 3 times each day, 30 min before meals.

RESULTSThe total effective rate of 91.7% in the treatment group was better than 77.8% in the control group (P < 0.05).

CONCLUSIONThe therapeutic effect of the needling method for harmonizing spleen-stomach on diabetic gastroparesis is better than that of Motilium.
