1.Research on the tumor suppression of Chinese caterpillar fungus water decoction combined cisplatin on tumor burdened mice

Objective To study the tumor suppression of Chinese caterpillar fungus water decoction combined cisplatin on a tumor burdened mice .Methods The beforehand vaccinal HCT8 tumor burdened mice were randomly devided into 5 groups(n=10) ,then 3 groups of Chinese caterpillar fungus water decoction were given a tumor burdened mice stomach (2 .5 ,5 .0 ,10 g/kg) ,1 times a day ,12 d .1 group of mice were given saline .1 group were given cisplatin .Determination of different concentrations of cordyceps water decoction lavage ,then observe the changes of tumor‐burdened bone tumors in mice weight .Results For vaccination HCT8 tumor burdened bone tumors had an average weight of each dose group mice compared with saline group have significant difference(P<0 .01) ,while Chinese caterpillar fungus water decoction (2 .5 ,5 .0 g/kg) and cisplatin group mice tumor block is more significant difference(P< 0 .01) ,the tumors had the lighter weight .Conclusion Chinese caterpillar fungus water decoction has tumor suppression effect on tumor burdened mice .
2.Cross-validation of the osmotic pressure based on Pitzer model with air humidity osmometry at high concentration of ammonium sulfate solutions.

The osmotic pressure of ammonium sulfate solutions has been measured by the well-established freezing point osmometry in dilute solutions and we recently reported air humidity osmometry in a much wider range of concentration. Air humidity osmometry cross-validated the theoretical calculations of osmotic pressure based on the Pitzer model at high concentrations by two one-sided test (TOST) of equivalence with multiple testing corrections, where no other experimental method could serve as a reference for comparison. Although more strict equivalence criteria were established between the measurements of freezing point osmometry and the calculations based on the Pitzer model at low concentration, air humidity osmometry is the only currently available osmometry applicable to high concentration, serves as an economic addition to standard osmometry.
3.Dynamic change of parasites in the brains of BALB/c mice infected with Angiostrongylus cantonensis

To observe the dynamic change of parasites in the brains of BALB/c mice infected with Angiostrongylus cantonensis in order to explore its possible mechanism of pathogenesis', BALB/c mice infected with the III stage larvae of A.cantonensis were observed and killed in different times after infection. The number and distribution of parasites in the brains of the infected mice were observed microscopically and macroscopically. It was found that the larvae of A.cantonensis were distributed in the cerebrum and cerebellum of mice in accordance with the rule of parasitization of worms in the host, i.e.multiplication at first and then dropping in number. And the places where the parasites located were damaged due to mechanical action or inflammatory reactions. The time of onset of symptoms, such as ataxia and twitch was coincided with the dynamic changes in the brains of the infected mice.

5.Decreased peripheral nerve conduction velocity may be associated with lower-serum level of vitamin E in patients with infantile hepatitis syndrome.

OBJECTIVETo explore the influence of vitamin E (VitE) concentration in serum on peripheral nerve conduction in patients with infantile hepatitis syndrome (IHS).
METHODSA retrospective study was carried out in 58 infants suffered from IHS without congenital biliary atresia and 31 of them were followed up. Thirty-two healthy infants were as control. The level of VitE in serum was detected with high performance liquid chromatography and nerve conduction was tested with surface electrodes along the nerves of limbs. The relationship between the level of VitE or total bilirubin (TB) or direct bilirubin (DB) and the nerve conduction velocity was analyzed comparatively.
RESULTS(1) The serum level of VitE was below the lower limit of 90% the normal value (13.78 micromol/L) in 71% (41/58) of patients, and was below the lower limit of 99% the normal level (9.17 micromol/L) in 48% (28/58) of patients. (2) The level of DB was more than 25.7 micromol/L in 86% (50/58) of the patients and was more than 102.6 micromol/L in 47% (27/58) of patients. Severe conjugated hyperbilirubinemia with cholestasis was demonstrated in most patients. (3) At least one abnormal parameter in nerve conduction test was found in 86% (50/58) patients. In 144 nerves tested, 60.4% (87/144) had at least one abnormal parameter. (4) Analysis for the association between bilirubin levels and VitE concentration in serum: in groups of DB > or = 25.7 micromol/L and DB < 25.7 micromol/L, the percentage of decreased VitE concentrations was 78% (39/50) and 25% (2/8), respectively, and the difference was significant (P < 0.01). Similar association between low VitE concentration and increased level of TB in serum could not be demonstrated. (5) Analysis for the association between abnormal nerve conduction and VitE concentration in serum: in the two groups with low and normal level of VitE, the percentage of abnormal nerve conduction was 93% (38/41) and 71% (12/17), respectively (chi(c)(2) = 4.93, P < 0.05). (6) Analysis for the association between abnormal nerve conduction and bilirubin in serum: There was no significant association between abnormal nerve conduction and serum level of either DB or TB. (7) Eight patients died and 9 patients had motor development delay in 31 patients during follow up. In these 17 patients with poor outcome, 88% (15/17) had very low VitE levels (< 9.17 micromol/L), which was markedly higher than the proportion of cases (43%, 6/14) with better prognosis (chi(c)(2) = 7.235, P < 0.01).
CONCLUSIONS(1) Low VitE serum levels were found in excess of the two thirds of patients with IHS and severely decreased levels in nearly a half of them. (2) A conjugated hyperbilirubinemia with cholestasis could be found in most patients (86%) suffered from IHS without congenital biliary atresia and about a half of them had serious cholestasis. (3) Conjugated hyperbilirubinemia with cholestasis could be the predominant cause of decreased serum VitE level in this study. (4) Abnormality of nerve conduction in patients with IHS might be related to VitE deficiency.

6.Effects of prostate water pellets on the serum levels of IL-6 and TNF-alpha in rats with chronic bacterial prostatitis.

OBJECTIVETo investigate the effect of Prostate Water Pellets (PWP) on serum levels of IL-6 and TNF-alpha in rats with chronic bacterial prostatitis (CBP).
METHODSFifty healthy, adult, male Wistar rats with the weight of 180 - 220 g were divided into five groups of ten rats each at random: the control group, model group, high dosage of PWP group, low dosage of PWP group and levofloxacin group. The CBP rat model were created by injecting Escherichia coli (0.2 ml/rat, 10(7)/ml) into prostates. A month later after the model creation, high and low dosage of PWP suspension were used by gavage in CBP rats for 30 days, respectively. Levofloxacin tablets were used by gavage as the positive control, and distilled water was used by gavage in the control and model group. After thirty days, serum levels of IL-6 and TNF-alpha were measured with radioimmunoassay.
RESULTSCompared with the model group, serum levels of IL-6 and TNF-alpha of rats in high and low dosage PWP groups were lower and the difference was significant statistically (P < 0.01).
CONCLUSIONIt has effect to treat CBP rat with the PWP and its mechanism may relate with the decreasing levels of proinflammatory cytokines(IL-6 and TNF-alpha) in blood.

7.Prosthesis-preserving sequential method for treatment of peripheral prosthesis infection after bone tumor limb salvage

Objective:To explore the curative effect of the "domino" sequential method with prosthesis preservation in the treatment of infection around the prosthesis after limb salvage surgery for bone tumors.Methods:A retrospective analysis of 11 patients with peripheral prosthetic infections after limb salvage surgery with prosthesis preserving "domino" from January 2016 to January 2020 was retrospectively analyzed, including 8 males and 3 females; age 21-74 years old, with an average of 51.8 years old. There were 6 cases of knee prosthesis for distal femoral tumor, 2 cases of proximal tibia knee prosthesis, 2 cases of pelvic prosthesis infection, and 1 case of middle femoral prosthesis. Before the operation, 8 cases had fever, and 2 cases had sinus. Sequential treatment failure is defined as: recurrence of infection. The treatment method is the debridement and lavage of the prosthesis and the systemic combined local application of drug-sensitive antibiotics to evaluate the patient's blood routine, C-reflective protein, erythrocyte sedimentation rate and other indicators, X-ray and CT of the surgical site, and the Musculoskeletal Tumor Society (MSTS) score.Results:The positive rate of microorganism culture was 72.7% (8/11), including 2 cases of Staphylococcus aureus, 1 case of Staphylococcus epidermidis, 1 case of methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus epidermidis, 1 case of methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus, abalone There were 2 cases of Acinetobacter mannifolia and 1 case of Streptococcus degalactiae. The MSTS score before treatment and at the last follow-up after treatment increased from 10.91±2.31 points to 20.73±3.52 points, the difference was statistically significant ( t=7.162, P<0.05). A total of 3 cases of sequential treatment failed to control infection, and the operation success rate was 72.7% (8/11). One case was amputation, one case was long-term replacement of wound dressing, and one case was switched to antibiotic bone cement combined with intramedullary nail reverse double insertion technique to control infection. Conclusion:For bone tumors with clinical infection symptoms less than one month after limb salvage surgery, the use of prosthesis-preserving "domino" sequential method for treatment of prosthetic infections is desirable for early and mid-term clinical efficacy.
8.Analysis of Chronic Disease Prevention Literacy among Primary and Secondary School Students in Dalian

Objective To understand the current status of chronic disease prevention literacy among primary and secondary school students in Dalian and to provide evidence for developing health education regarding chronic diseases and promotion strategies in students. Methods A total of 1 058 students from four districts or counties in Dalian were investigated through a questionnaire survey using stratified cluster sampling in 2015. A multiple linear regression method from Stata 15. 0 was used to identify the influencing factors of chronic disease prevention literacy among primary and junior school students. Results The current status of chronic disease prevention literacy was 6. 62 % among primary and junior school students in Dalian,and it was higher in urban students than in those from rural areas (P <0. 001),higher in junior school than in primary school (P < 0. 001),and higher in girls than in boys (P = 0. 034). There also appeared to be a positive regression relationship with parents' higher education degrees (P < 0. 001). Conclusion The current status of chronic disease prevention literacy is low among primary and secondary school students in Dalian. We should strengthen their health literacy level, mobilize the role of their parents,and especially increase chronic disease prevention awareness and the self-care ability of the rural students.
9.Changes of folate receptor -α protein expression in human gliomas and its clinical relevance.

OBJECTIVETo study the expression level of folate receptor α (FR-α) in glioma tissue and its clinical significance.
METHODSForty-eight human glioma specimens were collected from patients who underwent surgery from March 2012 to March 2013. These specimens were as follows:12 cases of glioblastoma (WHO IV), 6 cases of astrocytoma of each malignancy grade(WHO II, III), 6 cases of oligodendroastrocytoma of each malignancy grade (WHO II, III), 6 cases of oligodendroglioma of each malignancy grade (WHO II, III ). In addition, 6 cases of normal brain tissue resected from brain traumatic patients were taken as negative control, and one case of placental tissue (had got the consent of the parents and their families) was taken as positive control. The expression level of FR-α in tumor tissues was evaluated by Western blot analysis. The results of Western blot analysis were analyzed by t-test. The expression level of FR-α and Ki-67 in tumor tissues was evaluated immunohistochemistry, the results were analyzed by Kruskal-Wallis test and Nemenyi test. The correlation between the expression level of FR-α and cell proliferation index Ki-67 was analyzed by Pearson correlation analysis.
RESULTSWestern blot analysis showed that the FR-α was not expressed in normal brain tissue and oligodendroglioma tissue, but highly expressed in astrocytoma, oligodendroastrocytoma and gliomablastoma. The expression level in WHO III astrocytoma was significantly higher than in WHO II (t = 4.497, P < 0.05). FR-α was also highly expressed in oligodendroastrocytoma and its expression level in WHO III was also significantly higher than in the WHO II (t = 2.876, P < 0.05). Foremore, immunohistochemistry analysis also showed that FR-α was not expressed in oligodendroglioma, but expressed in astrocytoma, oligodendroastrocytoma and gliomablastoma. The positive rate of FR-α of WHO III was significantly higher than the WHO II astrocytoma(57.8% ± 2.2% vs. 45.7% ± 2.3%,χ(2) = 3.871, P = 0.034). In oligodendroastrocytoma, the positive rate of FR-α of WHO III was significantly higher than the WHO II(56.5% ± 5.4% vs. 37.1% ± 5.2%,χ(2) = 4.454, P = 0.021). Moreover, the expression level of FR-α in gliomablastoma was highest in all histological types of gliomas, the positive rate of FR-α was up to 65.0% ± 4.5%. Pearson correlation analysis showed that the positive rate of FR-α was positively correlated with Ki-67 index (r = 0.903, P < 0.05).
CONCLUSIONSFR-α is expressed in astrocytoma, oligodendroastrocytoma and glioblastoma, and the expression level of FR-α is positively correlated with malignancy grade and Ki-67 index. Therefore, FR-α may be applied as a special target for diagnosis and treatment of glioma.

10.Greater auricular nerve graft for repair of facial nerve defects.

OBJECTIVE:
To retrospectively analysis the clinical data of facial nerve defects repair with greater auricular nerve graft.
METHOD:
The transmastoid approach was adopted to repair the facial nerve defects by means of nerve grafting. Preoperative and postoperative facial nerve functions were graded according to the House-Brackmann scale.
RESULT:
The patterns of temporal bone fracture in the 8 patients were longitudinal, most lesions occurred in the region of the second genu and its surrounding, preoperatively, all patients had Grade VI function. In 3 patients of facial nerve tumors, the tumors involved multiple nerve segments, and histologic results were all schwannomas, preoperatively, 1 case had Grade III function, 2 cases had Grade V function. In 2 patients of iatrogenic trauma of the facial nerve, the primary disease was chronic otitis media with cholesteatoma, the lesions were localized at the mastoid segment and the second genu respectively. In 1 patient of molten steel burn, the lesions was localized at the tympanic segment, preoperative facial nerve function was Grade VI. In addition to 3 cases lost to follow-up, the remaining patients, 4 recovered to a Grade III, 3 to a Grade VI, 2 to a Grade V and 2 remained at Grade VI.
CONCLUSION
In present study, the most common cause of facial nerve transection was temporal bone fracture. Facial nerve reconstruction by means of greater auricular nerve grafting was a practical and effective method, the best postoperative recovery of facial nerve function was Grade III.
