Objective To observe the effect of contortrostafin on human glioma xengoraft model and explore its mechanism.Method Animal models were established on BALB/c nude mice with subcutaneously transplanted neoplasma of U87 glioma. The nude mice bearing withU87 slioma were devided randomly into two groups, which were treated without drugs or with doses of 40 μg/d.The dimension of xenografts was measured and the living state of nude mice with U87 glioma was observed. The protein expression of microvesel density(MVD),bFGF in each paraff in imbedded xenograft of nude mice bearing with U87 glioma were detected by immunohistochemistry staining.Result Contortrostafin inhibited the growth of xenografts in nude mice with U87 glioma(P<0.05),and the tumor volume was reduced by 50%.Meanwhile the control group highly expressed bFGF at the level of protein, coupling with increase of MVD.Compared with the dissolvent control group, contortrostatin treated group showed lower expression of bFGF,(P<0.01)and more decrease in MVD(P<0.01).Conclusion Contortrostatin diffusa has significant inhibitive effect on human glioma xenograft.

Objective To investigate the efficacy, technical tip, safety and complication prevention of combining Neuroform stents and Guglielmi detachable coils for treating acute ruptured giant intracranial aneurysms. Methods Among 10 cases who were diagnosed with giant intracranial aneurysms,Neuroform stents were released for supporting the neck of aneurysms, then micro-catheters were inserted into aneurysms through lumina of stents and coils were implanted. Results All the operations were completed successfully. There was no complication in these cases. The aneurysms were packed totally in 9 cases and partly in 1 case.Eight postoperative cases were followed up by 6 to 17 months. Neither bleeding nor thrombus was found, and all the patients recovered well. Conclusion Combining Neuroform stents and Guglielmi detachable coils for treating acute ruptured giant intracranial aneurysms is a safe and effective method.

Akebia trifoliate has been reported to have many pharmacological activities and the roots, petioles and seeds are used to different symptoms. However, the structure and anatomy of its seeds was almost not reported until now. In the present study, we investigated the morphological characters of the fruit and seed, and the anatomical characters of the testa, micropyle, embryo and endosperm, which could provide evidences for the study on classification, identification and application of A. trifoliate. Our results showed that the testa of A. trifoliate consisted of an epidermic cell layer, the sclerenchyma cells layer, the parenchyma cells layer and an innermost pigment layer. At the micropylar region, the outermost epidermal cells were specialized the white caruncle-like structure and the testa included a lot of lignified tissues. Endosperm comprises two layer cells. Outermost yellowish-brown layer cells contains lots of fat droplets, and innermost white layer cells contains lots of aleurone grains and crystalloids.

Objective To evaluate the relationship between serum tissue inhibitors of metaUoproteinase-1 and children with myocarditis, and provide evidences to support the measurement of serum tissue inhibitors of metallopro- teinase-1. Methods Tissue inhibitors of metalloproteinaee-1 and bioehem indexes of the harvested specimens and e -chocardiogram were measured from children with myocarditis(age: 1~14 years old, n = 9) and healthy young chil- dren(age: 1~14 years old, n = 9). Results Children with myocarditis showed reduced ejection fraction and dilated left ventricular compared with healthy children. Tissue inhibitors of metalloproteinaee-1 in children with myocarditis was significantly reduced compared with healthy children. Aspartie acid transanainase, lactate dehydrogenase, creatine kinase, hydroxybutyrie acid dehydrogenase, MB isoenzyrne of creatine kinase, cardiac troponin Ⅰ , C reactive protein showed no difference between two groups. Conclusion The reduced serum level of tissue inhibitors of metallopro- teinase-1 may show the severity of children with myocarditis and maybe one of the mechanisms of children with di- lated cardiomyopathy following myocarditis.

Paralytic ileus is one of the post-stroke familiar complications, belonging to the field of TCM"Changjie".Tongyuan Needling is invented by Professor LAI Xin-sheng,including two laws of promoting governor vessel to nourish spirit and leading qi to its origin, which focuses on regulating original qi and views governor and concept vessels as the key of regulating yin and yang, and then to regulate qi activity and hold the essence through leading qi to its origin, and finally to achieve balance between yin and yang.Fuzi Lizhong Decoction mainly consists of Lizhong Pills and Aconiti Lareralis Radix Praeparata, which is composed of processed Aconiti Lareralis Radix Praeparata, Codonopsis Radix, Atractylodis Macrocephalae Rhizoma, Zingiberis Rhizoma and Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma, which is an important prescription for warming yang and tonifying kidney, invigorating qi and strengthening the spleen. This article introduced one case adopting the therapy combination of Lai's Tongyuan Needling and Fuzi Lizhong Decoction to treat post-stroke paralytic ileus, and then summarized the experience of clinical acupoint selection and prescription.

OBJECTIVETo investigate the effect of neuroendoscope on surgery.
METHODS315 patients were treated with neuroendoscope. Endoscopic neurosurgery (EN) was used in 219 patients, endoscope-assisted microneurosurgery (EAM) in 72, and endoscope-controlled microneurosurgery (ECM) in 24.
RESULTS201 (91.8%) of the 219 patients underwent EN effectively. In 72 patients who underwent EAM there was less retraction during tumor removal and visual control was improved. 21 (87.5%) of the 24 patients underwent ECM effectively. No severe complications were observed.
CONCLUSIONNeuroendoscopy can reduce tissue trauma, improve visualization during tumor removal, and reduce complications.

Objective To investigate the efficacy of transvenous embolization in the management of cavernous dural arteriovenous fistulas. Methods Nine patients with cavernous dural arteriovenous fistulas diagnosed by digital subtraction angiography (DSA) were treated by transvenous embolization. Results Eight of the 9 patients were cured and 1 patient showed symptomatic improvement after the operations. No deterioration or death occurred in these cases. Follow-up of the patients for 2 to 96 months found no cases of relapse or exacerbation. Conclusion Transvenous embolization is effective and safe in the management of cerebral dural arteriovenous fistulas.

Objective To investigate the curative effect and feasibility of closed reduction with elastic intramedullary nailing and open reduction with Kirschner wire fixation in treatment of obviously displaced radial neck fractures in children. Methods From July 2006 to December 2007, 18 children with types Ⅱ and Ⅲ O' Brien radical neck fractures were admitted to Nanjing Children' s Hospital. Of all, six children received open reduction and fixation with Kirschner wire and six weeks of cast immobilization; the other 12 children received closed reduction and fixation with elastic intramedullary nail and three weeks of cast immobilization. The children were followed up for mean 12 months to investigate postoperative functional recovery of the elbow joint and presence of complications. Results All children achieved excellent clinical outcomes, without excessive radial bone growth, early closure of radial bone marrow, bone bridge formation or ectopic calcification around the joint. According to Tibone and Stoltz' s clinical evaluation methods, closed reduction with elastic intramedullary nailing had less trauma, faster recovery, fewer complications and better cosmesis than traditional open reduction with Kirschner wire fixation for children with obviously displaced radial neck fractures. Conclusion Closed reduction with elastic intramedullary nailing is a better option for obviously displaced radial neck fractures in children.
