Objective To evaluate the safety and effectiveness of vitrectomy combined with internal limiting membrane (ILM) tamping on macular hole and retinal detachment (MHRD) in highly myopic eyes. Methods 23 patients (23 eyes) were retrospectively reviewed, who were diagnosed as MHRD through examination of the ocular ftmdus, optic coherence tomography (OCT) and B-mode ultrasonography. There were 5 males (5 eyes) and 18 females (18 eyes). The mean age was (62.35 ± 8.28) years. The mean course of disease was 1.1 months. The logarithm of the minimum angle of resolution (logMAR) best-corrected visual acuity (BCVA) was 2.31 ± 0.72.The mean axial length was (28.66 ± 1.99) mm.All patients underwent 23G microincision vitrectomy. After vitreous gel and cortex were gently resected, the ILM around the edges of the macular hole was stained with indocyanine green, and was folded and pushed to fill the macular hole gently. Then silicone oil or C3F8 gas tamponade was applied in 18 eyes and 5 eyes, respectively. The silicone oil was removed after 3 months. The follow-up was 6 months. The BCVA,macular hole closure, retinal anatomical reattachment were retrospectively observed, and were used to evaluate the safety and effectiveness of the surgery. Results At the 6 months after surgery, the logMAR BCVA was improved to 1.13 ± 0.38,the difference was significant (t=l 5.33,P=0.00).The postoperative macular hole closure rate and retinal anatomical reattachment rate were 100%.There were no ocular or systemic adverse events observed in all patients. Conclusion Vitrectomy combined with ILM tamping is an effective and safe treatment for the high myopic eyes with MHRD.

AIM: To discuss the effect of wearing customized curvature soft corneal contact lens to dry eye degree of flight attendants.
METHODS:Eighty cases (160 eyes) of flight attendants from China Southern were divided into two groups:control group 40 cases ( 80 eyes ) wearing ready-made Bausch soft corneal contact lens ( curvature 8. 4 ); the experiment group 40 cases ( 80 eyes ) , wearing Bausch soft corneal contact lens with customized curvature. Tear break-up time ( BUT ) , Schirmer Ⅰ test ( SⅠt ) and fluorescein ( FL ) staining were as dry eye evaluation index. The results was statistically analyzed.
RESULTS: BUT, SⅠt average shortening value of the experimental group were less than that of the control group, there was statistical significance (P<0. 01). FL staining positive increase, the number of experimental group was fewer than that of control group, with statistical significance (P<0. 05).
CONCLUSION: Wearing customized curvature soft corneal contact lens can prevent the flight dry eye more effectively than fixed curvature product.

The endophytic microorganisms found widely in many kinds of plants mediate various effects to theirs hosts. In this study, seven different dominant endophytes (SDE01 to 07) isolated from a Hy-peraccumulator-Solanum nigrum L. were resistant to Cd2+, and the strain SDE06 survived even in the medium containing 80 mg/L of Cd2+. Bacteria strain SDE06 was identified as Bacillus sp.. The removal of Cd2+ of SDE06 in different conditions were studied. Under the optimal conditions, the incubating time was 36 h, the solution pH 6.0, the temperature was 37?C and the Cd2+ concentration of medium was 20 mg/L, the highest removal rate was up to 80.2% at this condition.

In this study, we investigated the pharmacokinetics parameters of SPIO-shRNA dual functional molecular probe and observed the main organ distribution by MRI in vivo. Eighteen New Zealand white rabbits were randomly divided into three groups and injected intravenously with different doses of SPIO-shRNA molecular probe, respectively. The blood samples were collected to analyze the pharmacokinetic parameters by measuring the iron content at 30 minutes before and after the injection. Twenty-four Kun Ming (KM) mice were randomly divided into 4 groups: the control group was injected intravenously with physiological saline 200 µL per mouse via the tail vein, the other 3 groups were injected intravenously with different doses of SPIO-shRNA molecular probe. MRI observation was performed in 24 hours, and the liver, spleen, kidney, brain and muscle were collected for iron quantification with Prussian blue staining to determine distribution of the SPIO-shRNA molecular probe in the main organ in vivo. Our results suggest that the molecular probe blood half-life is more than 3 hours. The data of MRI suggest the probe was distributed in liver and spleen, and the MRI signal was reduced with the increase in probe's doses (P < 0.05). The results of Prussian blue staining confirmed the results of MRI. Most of the probe could escape the phagocytosis of mononuclear phagocyte system. Our data provide the pharmacokinetic and distribution of SPIO-shRNA molecular probe in organs. Meanwhile, it suggests the choice of the time and dose of probe for MR imaging of tumor in vivo.

OBJECTIVETo explore etiologic fraction (EF) and interaction of hepatitis B virus (HBV) infection and other risk factors for primary hepatocellular carcinoma (PHC) in Guangxi, China.
METHODSA hospital-based case-control study including 500 PHC patients and 500 nontumorous patients was carried out in Guangxi. EF and interactions of HBV infection and other risk factors for PHC were analyzed by crossover analysis and nonconditional multiple logistic regression.
RESULTSHBV infection, family history of PHC, diabetes mellitus, eating raw fish, heavy alcohol consumption, frequently used drug, low income, mental oppression and blood type B all were risk factors for PHC. With EFs of 0.725, 0.186, 0.119, 0.486, 0.385, 0.438, 0.277, 0.607, 0.299, respectively and with etiologic fractions attributable to interaction [EF(A xB)] of 0.736, 0.643, 0.849, 0.551, 0.592, 0.618, 0.902, 0.577; and indices of interaction of 0.743, 0.651, 0.853, 0.560, 0.600, 0.626, 0.907, 0.586, respectively.
CONCLUSIONMain risk factors for PHC might include HBV infection, family history of PHC, diabetes mellitus, eating raw fish, heavy alcohol consumption, frequently used drug, low income, mental oppression and blood type B. HBV infection with other risk factors might exert synergistic action on developing PHC and increase the risk of PHC.

Objective To compare the advantages and values of several special staining methods of chondrocytes . Methods Twelve 7-day old healthy C57BL/6J mice were killed to obtain the cartilage tissue of the knee joint in order to isolate the chondrycytes .Type II collagen was used to assess the chondrocytes .Then the chondrocyte climbing slices were prepared. The materials were fixed, and HE staining, Safranin O-fast green staining, SA-β-gal staining and immunohistochemical staining of Type II collagen were performed and compared .Results HE staining showed clear morphology of the chondrocytes .The cell nuclei were stained blue and the cytoplasm was pink .Safranin O-fast green staining showed that the nuclei were pink and the cytoplasm green .SA-β-gal staining showed that the aging cells were green while the young cells were colorless .Immunohistochemical staining of type II collagen showed the distribution of type II collagen and they were stained brown while the cell nuclei were blue .Conclusions HE staining and safranin O-fast green staining can provide more information than the other staining techniques .SA-β-gal staining is useful in the analysis of aging chondrocytes .Immunohistochemical of type II collagen can be used to study type II collagen .
