The incidence rate of erectile dysfunction (ED) is reportedly as high as 30-90% after radical prostatectomy for prostate cancer, which seriously affects the patients' quality of life. Penile rehabilitation is defined as the use of any drug or device at or after radical prostatectomy to maximize erectile function recovery. A variety of treatment options are available for post-prostatectomy ED patients, including oral phosphodiesterase 5 inhibitors (PDE5I) , intracorporal injections, vacuum erection device, and penile prosthesis. This article presents an overview of the currently used methods for the drug treatment and penile rehabilitation of the ED patients after radical prostatectomy. It seems proper to recommend daily use of a vacuum erection device plus oral PDE5I in the early postoperative period. For those who fail to respond to this therapy, intraurethral alprostadil, intracorporal injections, or a penile prosthesis could be considered.

Objective To explore mechanism of human bone mesenchymal stem cell(MSC)in treating patients with aplastic anemia(AA)in vitro. Methods MSCs were separated with Percoll(1.073 g/mL)and cultured in low glucose DMEM.T cells were harvested by using nylon column.MSCs of various concentrations were added to PHA induction T cell proliferation cultures with AA patients. The proliferation of T cell was measured by MTT method. The CD25(IL-2R)expression rates of CD~+_3 T cells was analyzed by flow cytometry .Results MSCs were planted in 96-well plates(2?10~4/well for group A,1?10~4/well for group B)and cocultured with T cell isolated from peripheral blood of AA patients. Peripheral blood T cell noncocultured with MSC acted as the control group.MSCs significantly inhibit PHA-induced T cell proliferation and the CD25 expression of CD~+_3 T cells in patients with AA(P

Objective To investigate the clinical manifestations, immunological features and prognosis of primary Sj(o)gren's syndrome(pSS) with anticentromere antibodies(ACA). Methods Sixty pSS patients with ACA in our hospital between 1985 and 2006 were screened retrospectively and compared with those without ACA. Results The mean age at the onset of pSS with ACA was higher than that of those without ACA[(48±11)yr vs(41±12)yr,P=0.000].There was no difference in sex ratio, dry mouth.dry eyes and positive salivary gland biopsy between the two groups(P>0.05).Compared with those without ACA,patients with ACA presented a higher prevalence of liver involvement(68.3%vs 37.0%,P=0.000),while a lower prevalence of renal involvement(13.3%vs 30.9%,P=0.009), neuropathy(1.7% vs 11.5%,P=0.025)and hypergammaglobulinemia(20.8%vs 45.7%,P=0.002). The difference was not significant between the two groups in Raynaud's phenomenon, articular involvement, myositis, hematologic involvement, lung involvement, and thyroiditis. While both groups showed the same prevalence of antinuclear antibody(ANA),the patterns of ANA-IF were different and the discrete speckled pattern was the most freqent in patients with ACA and occurred in 61.7%. Different from those without ACA,patients with ACA presented a lower prevalence of anti-SSA,anti-SSB, rheumatoid factor, and antiU1 RNP,while showed a higher prevalence of antimitochondrial antibodies(AMA) and AMA-M2. The most frequent cause of death was the complications associated with cirrhosis, notably bleeding varices(3/5 cases). Conclusion Patients with ACA present a high risk of liver involvement. Because of the remarkable difference in the mean age of disease onset and also differences in systemic damage, immunological and antibody features, pSS with ACA may be a special subtype of pSS.

Journal of Huazhong University of Science and Technology (Medical Sciences) 2011;31(2):169-73
This study examined the relationship between PDGF-induced proliferation of vascular smooth muscle cells (VSMCs) and Nur77 expression and the effect of atorvastatin on VSMC proliferation and Nur77 in PDGF-treated VSMCs. Rat VSMCs were isolated and cultured. After incubation with atorvastatin or Nur77 siRNA, the cells were stimulated with PDGF and detected for BrdU incorporation to measure the proliferation of the VSMCs. Quantitative PCR and Western blotting were used to determine the Nur77 protein and the CREB phosphorylation level, to observe their relations with PDGF-induced VSMC proliferation. Our results showed that PDGF increased the BrdU incorporation in VSMCs, suggesting that it induced the proliferation of the cells. The VSMC proliferation was associated with increased Nur77 expression and elevated CREB phosphorylation. Atorvastatin inhibited the PDGF-induced VSMC proliferation, suppressed Nur77 expression. After silencing of Nur77 gene, the PDGF-induced VSMC proliferation was decreased. It was concluded that PDGF-induced VSMC proliferation was related to the Nur77 expression and CREB phosphorylation. Atorvastatin reduced the Nur77 expression and, at the same time, inhibited the VSMC proliferation.

Objective To search for the changes of T cells subpopulations and immunoglobulin and their relation-ship in children patients with simple nephrotic syndrome. Design Case-control research. Patients aud Participants 39 patients with simple nephrotic syndrome were divided into two groups:the incipient group and relapse group (6 cases were determined at the incipient and relapse time) .Thereare 28 patients in incipient group, 19 males and 9 females, at the age of 2 to 10 years old. There are20 patients in relapse group, 12 males and 8 females, at the age of 3 to 13 years old. There are 35health children in control group, 21 males and 14 females, 2~13 years old. Interventions T cells subpopulations were determined by indirect immunofluorescence of OKT linesmonoclonal antibodies. The serum IgG was determined by routine simple agar immunodiffusion tests. Results and Conclusions The CD_3~+ and CD_4~+ cells are of no change in the children patients withsimple nephrotic syndrome, and the CD_8~+ and CD_(10)~+ cells are obviously increased, the Values of CD_4~+/CD_8~+ are obviously lower than those in the control qroup, there are no difference between the incipientand relapse groups. The levels of serum IgG were decreased in the 85.3% children patients, IgM were inc-reased in 29.4% of that. The values of CD_4~+/CD_8~+ have positive correlation and negative correlationwith the levels of serum IgG and IgM respectively.

L-amino acid transporter 1 ( LAT1) is a member of L-amino transporter family and an important heterodi?meric amino acid transporter that belongs to subfamily of SLC7. LAT1 mainly mediates trans-membrane transportation of those neutral amino acids that had cyclobenzene or long side chains with high molecular mass such as L-Leu, L-Met and L-Phe as well as some amino acid analogues such as melphalan, L-DOPA and thyroxine in a Na+and ATP-independent diffu?sion. As LAT1 was abnormally overexpressed in various transformed cell lines, it might be related with tumor stage and prog?nosis. It is not only a biomarker that specifically expressed in some tumor cells but also plays an important role in tumor diag?nosis and therapy. Here we demonstrate the structure of LAT1 and its mechanism in transport peculiarity. We also reviewed the development of LAT1 in tumor diagnosis and treatment.
