Objective To evaluate the treatment effects on schistosomiasis hepatic fibrosis with Dangguibuxue decoction.Methods Thirty-four rabbits weighing 2.0-2.5 kg were selected.The procedure for the model of schistosomiasis liver fibrosis was as follow.Thirty-four snails infected by schistosoma japonicum were placed in triangle flask to escape cercariain.Abdominal skin of each rabbit wag infected by 100 schistosoma japonicum cercariaes.All rabbits were housed in conventional cages at room temperature.After 13 weeks schistosoma japonicum infected,the rabbits'livers were examined by B-ultrasound examination every week.After 18 weeks of infection,B-ultrasound showed images of schistosomiasis liver fibrosis,the rabbits were thus identified as schistosomiasis liver fibrosis.Praziquantel Was as insecticide to treat rabbits.All rabbits were divided into treatment and control groups according to body weigh.The high and low dosage group were treated with Dangguibuxue decoction at 50 g/kg and 5 g/kg(n=11),respectively,and the control group with no treatment(n=12).Two groups were treated with Dangguibuxue decoction every day for 10 weeks.After 10 weeks of treatment,the rabbits were killed and the livers were obtained to go HE staining and histopathological examination under microscope.Results After 18 weeks of infection,B-ultrasound showed that the liver parenchyma Was coarse and net-shaped.having hyperechoie spots with lightbrand and facula.The liver's shape Was abnormal,portal and splenic vein diameter was widened.Histopathological examination showed that the high dosage group presented fibrosis,which was formed by collagen fiber extending to peripherM regions,low dosage group showed mild fibrosis,mild collagen fiber present with extension without compartment formation, while the control group presented severe fibrosis and severe collagen fiber present with a thickening of the partial compartments and the distribution of eggs nodules. The liver histopathological ranking results from different groups showed that the difference was significant (χ2= 13.585,P < 0.01), the difference between the treatment groups of high and low dosage and control group was significant,respectively(all P < 0.01 ). Conclusions The histopathology results showed that both high and low dosage Dangguibuxue decoction can reverse or eliminate schistosomiasis liver fibrosis in rabbits.

Objective To determine the significance and expression of S100A9 and NMP238 in cervical carcinoma with different concurrent chemoradiotherapy sensitivities. Methods Fresh carcinoma tissues were collected from untreated cervical carcinoma patients and preserved at -80 ℃. The tissues were classified into 2 groups:a high sensitivity group (HS) and a low sensitivity group(LS) according to their response to concurrent chemoradiotherapy. Protein was separated by 2-dimensional gel electrophoresis (2-DE). Peptide mass fingerprintings (PMF) were acquired by matrix assisted laser desorption/ionization time-of-flight mass spectrometry (MALDI-TOF-MS) and the proteins were identified by data searching in the Mascot-database. Differential expressed proteins were assayed by Western blot and immunohistochemistry.Results Most of the gels were clear and were successfully and reproductively analyzed. Intensity and rate of S100A9 expression were higher in the HS group than in the LS group,and those of NMP238 expression were higher in the LS group than in the HS group. Conclusion S100A9 and NMP238 expression is associated with concurrent chemoradiotherapy sensitivity in cervical carcinoma.

BACKGROUND: The low survival rate of neuron cells is one of the main mechanisms of stem cell allograft, which might lead to the failure of allograft. Nuclear factor-KB (NF-kB) is one of main transcription factors for cell signaling transduction and participates in call proliferation and differentiation.OBJECTIVE: To study the differentiation of muscle-derived stem cells (MDSCs) into neuron-like cells induced by ciliary neurotrophic factor (CNTF) and Compound Salvia Miltiorrhiza Injection in vitro, and the expression of NF- kB.DESIGN, TIME AND SETTING: The experiment at cell molecular level was performed at the Oral Science Laboratory of the Second Affiliated Hospital of Liaoning Medical College from March to May 2008.MATERIALS: A total of 10 Sprague Dawley neonatal rats aged 7 days were supplied by Experimental Animal Center, Liaoning Medical University. CNTF (Sigma, USA) and Compound Salvia Miltiorrhiza Injection (Chiatai Qingchunbao Pharmacantical Co.,Ltd., China) were used in this study.METHODS: Rat MDSCs were harvested in vitro, pudfied by differential adherence and enzyme digestion, and incubated in 6-well plate. Samples in the induction group were incubated in DMEM containing CNTF for 24 hours. The medium was changed.Subsequently, samples were dnsed three times, and then incubated in serum-free DMEM supplemented with Compound Salvia Miltiorrhiza Injection for 5 hours. Samples in the control group were treated with serum-free DMEM.MAIN OUTCOME MEASURES: Neurofilament protein and NF-KB inhibitor protein expression were detected using reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) and Westem blotting.RESULTS: No neurofilament protein expression was found in MDSCs before induction, and neurofilament protein-positive MDSCs were detected following induction. Excessive medical treatment goes against the human rights of patients and therefore must be stopped.Main reasons include the impulse of existing medical benefit mechanism,the morality decline of medical staff,and patients' eagerness to shake off physical pain and psychological advocating for high-cost medical expenditure.This paper also comes up with relevant countermeasures including reversing the current healthcare mechanism,establishing an evaluation system for medical ethics of medical staff,and building up a monitoring mechanism for the development of clinical guidelines of evidence-based medicine.

Objective Amblyopia is common disease in children. It can cause visual suppression that damage binocular vision function especially to the development of stereopsis. The objective of this study was to investigate the stereoscopic vision in children with different types and degrees of amblyopia. Methods This is a clinical retrospective comparative analysis. 178 children with amblyopia from Sichuan Provincial Corps Hospitial CAPF were enrolled in this study. Approximation zero disparity, crossed disparity, uncrossed disparity were examined with Yan' s stereogram. The classification of stereogram based on the criteria of Okuda. The degree of amblyopia was graded based on the corrected vision acuity. Results The differences in the eyes and percentage of approximation zero disparity, crossed disparity, uncrossed disparity among refractive amblyopia group, anisopia amblyopia group and strabismic amblyopia group were statistically significant, respectively(χ~2 =13. 979, P =0. 001; χ~2 = 15. 198, P = 0. 001 ; χ~2 =6. 974, P = 0. 031) . Approximation zero disparity, crossed disparity in mild amblyopia were better than of medium amblyopia in ametropic amblyopic children (P ＜ 0. 05) . No statistically significant difference in the eye number and percentage of uncrossed disparity was found between mild and moderate refractive ametropia (P ＞ 0. 05) . The same outcomes also were seen in approximation zero disparity, crossed disparity, uncrossed disparity between mild and medium anisopia amblyopia (P ＞ 0. 05) . No statistically significant differences in the eye number and percentage of approximation zero disparity, crossed disparity were found between mild and moderate strabismic amblyopia (P ＞0. 05) . Conclusion Amblyopia affects the development of stereoacuity. Amblyopia is aggravated with the increase of amblyopia degrees. The influence of amblyopia on stereoscopic vision is most mild in refractive ametropic and most serious in strabismic amblyopia.

Objective To study the conditions of separation and regeneration of Poria cocos protoplast.Methods Separation and regeneration of P.cocos protoplast under different ages of hyphae,enzyme consistency,and enzymolysic time and stabillizer.Results The results showed that the yield of the protoplast was different under different ages of hyphae,enzyme concentration,enzymolysic time,and stabilizer.Conclusion For strain Z_(10-2),its optimal age of hyphae,enzyme concentration,and stabilizer is 72 h,3%,and 0.5 mol/L mannitol,respectively.The strain Z_(10-3) is 56 h,3%,and 0.6 mol/L mannitol.The frequency of regeneration of the two strains is the best and 7.5?10~(-3)(strain Z_(10-2)) and 1.3?10~(-2)(strain Z_(10-2)) separately when the stabilizer is 0.6 mol/L mannitol.

Objective The aim of this study was to evaluate the left transthoracic approach in simultaneous antireflux surgery at the time of CDH repair in Infancy.Methods Between June 2008 and June 2012,18 patients underwent a left transthoracic approach in the treatment of type Ⅲ and Ⅳ hiatal hernia.,including 1 gastric volvulus.Clinical presentation in these patients included vomiting(n =12) 、pulmonary infections (n =9)、symptomatic anemia、failure to thrive (n =18).All the patients were evaluated before and after the surgery on clinical presentation,symptoms and functional assessment.Surgical techniques included extensive mediastinal esophageal dissection,Nissen fundoplication,resection of the hernial sac,crural closure.Results The average of operative time was 90 minutes.The mean blood loss was 5 ml.The average length of stay was 15 days.The hours stayed in PICU were 21.5 h.Mean follow-up was 22 months.There was no hospital mortality and hernia recurrence.Only one patient suffered gastroesophageal reflux disease after operation,and was controlled with antireflux medications.Conclusion Transthoracic is the optimal operative approach for treating the esophageal hiatal hernia,with relatively low postoperative morbidity and recurrence rates.Advantages of the transthoracic approach include the facilitation of Nissen fundoplication、esophageal lengthening procedures,and excellent exposure for the crural suturing.

BACKGROUND: Platelet-rich plasma containing various high-concentration growth factors can promote new bone formation and accelerate bone healing. But its effects on distraction osteogenesis remain unclear. OBJECTIVE: To observe the effects of autologous platelet-dch plasma on premaxillary distraction osteogeaesis in rabbits. DESIGN, TIME AND SETTING: A randomized controlled animal experiment was performed at the Laboratory of Physiology, North Campus,Sun Yat-sen University between July and August 2007. MATERIALS: Sixteen healthy rabbits, the same number for male and female, aged 3-5 months,weighing 1. 4-1.7 kg,were randomly and evenly divided into an experimental group and a control group. Premaxillary incisor band,outside front distraction mask, and distraction rubber band were self-made.Coagulant was prepared by dissolving 1000 u bovine thrombin in 1 mL of 10% calcium chloride.METHODS: Titanium nails (1.5 mm in diameter) were separately inserted on two sides of left premaxillary suture in rabbits. A self-made distraction device was used. Gelatum-like substance [Vplatelet-rich plasma: V coagulant=9:1] was injected into the left premaxillary suture of experimental group rabbits immediately prior to distraction.In each group, one-week sustained distraction was performed in 4 rabbits,and three-week sustained distraction was performed in another rabbits. MAIN OUTCOME MEASURES: The increase of nail-nail distance on the two sides and histological results following distraction osteogenesis.RESULLTS: Rabbit premaxillary bone moved anterior in the two groups. The experimental group showed greater increase of nail-nail distance, faster bone formation and mineralization, more blood vessels, and thicker and more mature bone trabecula in the distraction interspace in comparison with the control group. CONCLUSION: Platelet-rich plasma will help bone tissue regeneration and promote premaxillary distraction osteogenesis.

Objective To investigate the feasibility and application scope of the looping technique by using a gooseneck snare and a loach guide wire in retrieving tubular foreign bodies within the vascular or ureteral duct. Methods During the period from July 2009 to Dec. 2013, six patients with ruptured catheter were admitted to authors’ hospital. All six patients were females. Three patients had internal ruptured peripherally inserted central venous catheter (PICC), one patient had ruptured implantable venous access port catheter and two patients had replacement of double “J” ureteral catheter stent. By using looping technique, i.e. a loach guide wire and a gooseneck snare were separately placed at the two ends of the tubular foreign body, then the gooseneck snare entangled the soft leading end of the loach guide wire to form a annular structure to seize the ruptured tubular catheter and then to pull it out of the body. Results With the help of the looping technique, the internal ruptured catheter or the double “J” ureteral catheter was successfully removed in all the six patients. Conclusion For the retrieval of the tubular foreign bodies within the vascular or ureteral duct, the looping technique by using a gooseneck snare and a loach guide wire is an effective and fast treatment. Therefore, this technique should be recommended in the clinical practice.
