Objective To explore ultrasound performances and misdiagnostic causes of aggressive fibromatosis (AF).Methods Ultrasound performance and misdiagnostic causes of 45 patients (47 tumors) with AF confirmed by histopathology were analyzed retrospectively. Results Of 45 patients, ultrasound showed lesions of varying size, and the maximum diameter of 36 masses (36/47,76.60%) were more than 3 cm;37 masses (37/47,78.72%) were irregular pale leaf;45 masses (45/47,95.74%) had no complete capsule;45 masses (45/47,95.74%) were shown as interogeneous internal echo mixed with hyperechoic area in the hypoechoic internal;29 cases were diagnosed correctly,16 cases were misdiagnosed, the diagnostic accordance rate was 64.44% (29/46).Conclusion AF has certain ultrasonic characteristics.Combined with the patient's medical history and physical sign, ultrasound can significantly improve the preoperative detection rate and diagnostic accuracy of AF.

Objective To explore the effects and mechanism of electroacupuncture on acute hypertension in rats. Methods 36 male Wistar rats were randomly divided into control group (n=8), model group (n=8), drug group (n=10) and electroacupuncture group (n=10). The acute hypertension rat model was induced with injecting adrenalin into abdomen. Blood pressure was measured and blood adrenalin and noradrenalin levels were tested after electroacupuncture in points Baihui DU-20 and Zusanli ST36. Results The systolic and diastolic pressures were lower in the drug group and the electroacupuncture group than in the model group (P<0.05), and there was no difference between the 2 groups (P>0.05). The adrenalin and noradrenalin levels were higher in the model group than in the control group (P<0.05), but they were lower in the drug group and the electroacupuncture group than in the model group (P<0.05). Conclusion The electroacupuncture could reduce the blood pressure of acute hypertension rats by decreasing blood adrenalin and noradrenalin levels.

In the present study, the effect of serum (fetal bovine serum, FBS) on cellular uptake behaviors of DNA tetrahedron (TDNs) was investigated.Fluorescence-labeled TDNs were synthesized by self-assembly and purified with HPLC to achieve TDNs product with purity of 95%.By means of flow cytometry and confocal microscopy, the kinetics of TDNs endocytosis in HeLa cells in the presence or absence of FBS was compared. The results showed that TDNs remained intact in complete medium and cell lysate for more than 12 hours.FBS increased the amount of internalized TDNs in HeLa cells, whereas it did not change the route of caveolin-dependent endocytosis.Herein, our study provided a new insight into the effects of biomolecules on the interaction between cells and DNA nanostructures, which helped the future development of DNA-based intracellular nanocarriers.

ObjectiveTo observe the effects of electroacupuncture on IL-1β in brain tissue of rats after total cerebral ischemia-reperfusion.MethodsThirty male Wistar rats were randomly divided into the sham operation group, model group and acupuncture group, in each group. In acupuncture group and model group, 4-vessel-occlusion method was used to make a rat model of cerebral ischemia reperfusion. Acupuncture group used electroacupuncture on points Quchi and Zusanli, 6 hours after reperfusion. The rats of each group were killed and ELISA was used for the measurement of IL-1β in brain tissues.ResultsIL-1β in brain tissue in model group increased significantly compared with sham operation group and acupuncture group(P<0-001). No significant differences were found between sham operation group and acupuncture group (P>0-05).ConclusionAcupuncture can lower IL-1β content of brain tissue of rats with brain ischemia/reperfusion injury.

Objective To investigate the clinical efficacy, indications and complications of transcatheter arterial embolization for the treatment of traumatic hemorrhage of liver. Methods Retrospectively analyzed 33 cases of traumatic hemorrhage of liver admitted to West China Hospital from May 1996 to May 2006.Twenty-four cases underwent hepatic arterial angiography and were diagnosed as hepatic arterial pseudoaneurysms and followed by superselective embolization of the feeding vessel with gelatin sponge and/or spring coils. Results Embolization was succeeded technically in 28 pseudoaneurysms of 24 cases.Rebleeding occurred in 2 cases and a second embolization was performed with one recovered uneventfully. The other died of rebleeding and severe abdominal infection one week after the second embolization.Fever unrelated to embolization occurred in 9 cases. Conclusion Transcatheter arterial embolization is safe, prompt and effective for the treatment of hemorrhage due to hepatic injury.(J Intervent Radiol,2007,16:226-228)

AIM:To observe the antineoplastic effect of Naja Naja atra venom (NNAV) on S180 bearing mice and to study the possible antineoplastic mechanism. METHODS:We observed the effect of NNAV on tumor weight、plasma nitric oxide content、plasma endothelin content and spleen index in S180 bearing mice with different concentration and different period by means of injecting into abdomen. RESULTS:Treatment with NNAV solution of different concentration could markedly inhibit S180 growth (especially in the low concentration group and by long period) and rate of inhibiting ranged from 21 63% to 49.25%; the plasma nitric oxide content, the plasma endothelin content and NO/ET ratio in tumor bearing mice were obviously higher than those of the normal control group, while after treatment with NNAV solution, the plasma nitric oxide level, the plasma endothelin level and NO/ET ratio could be reduced markedly, and it was noticed that NO/ET ratio in the group with highest inhibiting rate was most close to that of the normal control group. The spleen index was obviously increased after treatment with NNAV solution.CONCLUSION:The antineoplastic effect of NNAV on S180 bearing mice is best in long period by means of injecting into abdomen with low concentration. The mechanism of the antineoplastic effect of NNAV may be related to lowering the plasma nitric oxide and endothelin level, regulating the NO/ET ratio and enhancing the immune response.

Objective To observe the effects of acupuncture on blood lipids of hyperlipidemia mice, and explore the mechanism of acupuncture against endothelial dysfunction. Methods 40 ApoE (-/- ) mice were randomly divided into control group (C), acupuncture at non-acupoint group (D), acupuncture at acupoint group (E), and simvastatin group (F) with 10 cases in each group. After 8 weeks, total cholesterol (TC), the plasma angiotensin II (Ang II), endothelin-1 (ET-1) and nitric oxide (NO) were measured with enzyme-linked immuno sorbent assay (ELISA). The mice myocardial angiotensin II type 1 receptor (AT1R), and endothelin-1 type A receptor (ETAR) protein were detected with Western blotting. Results The blood lipid, the content of plasma Ang II and ET-1, and the level of AT1R and ETAR in the heart tissue were significantly lower, and the content of NO was significantly higher in groups E and F than in group C (P<0.05). Conclusion Acupuncture can inhibit the level of blood lipids in ApoE(-/-) mice, reduce the levels of Ang II and ET-1, increase the level of NO in peripheral blood, and inhibit the expression of AT1R, ETAR in heart tissue.
