·AIM:To present a case of late onset bilateral keratectasis after laser in situ keratomileusis (LASIK) for myopia with rigid gas-permeable contact lenses with a brief review of literature on this subject.·METHODS:A 27-year-old woman underwent bilateral uneventful LASIK for moderate myopia. Preoperative cycloplegic refractions were -5.50/-0.50×50° right eye (OD) and - 4.50/-1.00×15° left eye (OS).Corneal pachymetry was 526μm OD and 541μm OS, Preoperative corneal topography was normal and did not reveal any keratoconus or forme fruste keratoconus.Following the creation of flaps with 160μm plates, ablations of 102μm OD and 86μm OS were performed, estimated to leave residual stromal beds of 264μm OD and 295μm OS.·RESULTS:Twenty-nine months postoperatively, the patient developed bilateral inferior keratectasia of -12.50/-4.00×160° OD and -6.00/- 4.25×125° OS.Visual acuity was reduced in both eyes;the central cornea had steepened; and pachymetry showed central corneal thinning.Keratectasia was diagnosed, and rigid contact lenses were fitted.Three years later, the patient achieved satisfactory visual acuity and all-day lens wear with minimal complications.·CONCLUSION:Late keratectasia may follow LASIK for low to moderate myopia despite a thorough preoperative work-up.Rigid contact lenses can offer a safe, reversible option for improving visual acuity in such patients by delaying or avoiding the need for intracorneal ring segments implanting or penetrating keratoplasty.
4.Effect of lobaplatin on radiosensitivity of human cervical carcinoma SiHa cells
The Chinese Journal of Clinical Pharmacology 2017;33(13):1229-1232
Objective To investigate the effect of lobaplatin on the radiosensitivity of cervical cancer SiHa cells and its mechanism. Methods MTT assay was used to detect the proliferation of SiHa cells treated with different concentrations of lobaplatin at 24,48 and 72 h,and the IC50 values were calculated. The radiosensitivity of SiHa cells were measured by colony formation assay, and the multi-target single hit model was used to fit the radiological parameters of SiHa cells.Flow cytometry was used to detect the effect of lobaplatin, radiation and lobaplatin combined with radiation on the apoptotic rate of SiHa cells.Western blot was used to detect the expression of pro-apoptotic protein Bax and anti-apoptotic protein Bcl-2 in SiHa cells. Results According to the results of MTT assay and colony formation assay, cells were divided into four groups as follows:blank group (routine cell culture),lobaplatin group (5.0 μmol · L-1 lobaplatin),radiation group (6 Gy 6 MV X-ray) and lobaplatin + radiation group(5.0 μmol · L-1 lobaplatin + 6 Gy 6 MV X -ray).The apoptosis rates of the blank group, the lobaplatin group, the radiotherapy group and the combination group were (4.44 ± 2.07) %,(30.50 ± 3.17)%,(43.08 ± 5.93)% and (84.68 ±4.90)%,respectively.The expression of pro-apoptotic protein Bax was significantly up-regulated and the expression of Bcl-2 was down-regulated in the lobaplatin group and the radiotherapy group compared with the blank group.Compared with the lobaplatin group and the radiotherapy group, the expression of pro-apoptotic protein Bax was significantly up-regulated while the expression of Bcl-2 was down-regulated in the combination group. Conclusion Lobaplatin might enhance the radiosensitivity of SiHa cells through the apoptosis pathway.
6.The preliminary exploration into regulating sub-health as preventive and therapeutic strategies for tumor.
Chinese Journal of Integrated Traditional and Western Medicine 2012;32(3):412-414
The definition of sub-health was studied from the angle of tumor dormancy again. We believe it is necessary to further supplement the present definition, diagnosis criteria, and assessment means. The definition of sub-disease and the division of a disease into four development stages (health --> sub-health --> sub-disease --> disease) were also brought up. Furthermore, we believe that application of regulating sub-health as preventive and therapeutic strategies for tumor is an anti-cancer method with Chinese features, which enriches the modern theories of tumor prevention and therapy.

ObjectiveTo investigate the effects of fluid percussion injury(FPI) on survival and differentiation of transplanted human embryonic neural stem cells (HNSCs) in rats. MethodsThe HNSCs were separated from the cerebral cortex of the 8-week-old fetal and were cultured in DMEM/F12 combinated with EGF, bFGF and LIF. The rat models of FPI were made with fluid percussion system. The HNSCs labeled with BrdU were transplanted into the injured zone 24 hours after brain injury, then the rats were killed at the 1st and 4th week post-transplanted stages, and the brain slices were stained with immunocytochemistry. The GFAP, MAP-2, and BrdU positive cells were investigated.ResultsThe transplanted HNSCs migrated to the whole brain, and differentiated into GFAP and MAP-2 positive cells. MAP-2 positive cells were observed at 1 week post-transplanted stage, on the contrary, more GFAP positive cells were discovered 4 weeks after transplantation. Part of the HNSCs migrated to the choroids plexus of the lateral ventricle and microvessels. ConclusionThe transplanted HNSCs survive in the injured zone, and differentiate into astrocytes gradually during the recovery. The host devours part of the HNSCs.

OBJECTIVE:To explore the effects of short-term application of atorvastatin combined with ezetimibe on efficacy and related indicators of patients with primary nephrotic syndrome with hyperlipidemia. METHODS:Data of 50 patients with prima-ry nephrotic syndrome with hyperlipidemia were retrospectively collected and divided into combination group and control group ac-cording different treatment,25 cases in each group. All patients received low-salt,low-fat ,high-quality protein, giving prednisone 1 mg/(kg·d),po,qd,combined with anticoagulation,diuretic,anti-infection,taking cytotoxic drugs if necessary. Based on it, control group received Atorvastatin calcium tablet 20 mg before going to bed,qd;combination group received Atorvastatin calcium tablet(the same dosage and usage with control group)+Ezetimibe tablet 10 mg,qd. They were treated for 2 weeks. Lipid-lowering efficacy and low-density lipoprotein(LDL-C),triglyceride(TG),cholesterol(TC),high-density lipoprotein(HDL-C),24 h uri-nary protein (M-TP),serum albumin, alanine aminotransferase (ALT),aspartate aminotransferase (AST),serum creatinine and blood urea nitrogen before and after treatment in 2 groups were observed and the incidence of adverse reaction was recorded. RE-SULTS:There was no significant differences in the total effective rate of Lipid-lowering in 2 groups(P>0.05). After treatment, LDL-C,TC and HDL-C in 2 groups were significantly lower than before,Alb in combination group and ALT in 2 groups were sig-nificantly higher than before, with statistical significance(P<0.05),while there were no significant difference in 2 groups(P>0.05). And there was no significant difference in the TG,M-TP,AST,serum creatinine and blood urea nitrogen before and after treatment(P>0.05). CONCLUSIONS:Atorvastatin combined with ezetimibe can improve the blood lipid of patients with primary nephrotic syndrome with hyperlipidemia, while showing similar efficacy and safety with atorvastatin alone in a short term.

Microbiology 1992;0(02):-
A strain of P. Aeruginosa, which was seperated from clinical environment, shows a special characteristic. It keeps normal short rod shape when cultured at 37℃, however,it forms filament without pyocyanin producing when cultured at 25℃ overnight. The filaments will divide and form short rods, simultaneously, produce pyocyanin when culture time is prolonged to over 72h or culture temperature is raised to 37℃. The preliminary study indicates that this phenomenin has nothing to do with nutritive conditions and could the inbluenced by inoculating density and irradiating with ultraviolet rays The absence of pyocyanin was not the cause of filamentous formation by the test results.
