Objective To investigate the correlation between benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) and blood pressure variability (BPV) in the elderly patients with H type hypertension.Methods 561 elderly patients with H type hypertension from 2010 to 2012 were enrolled in this study,including 436 BPH patients and 125 non-BPH (NBPH) patients.All patients underwent ambulatory blood pressure monitoring (ABPM) and ultrasound examination of prostate.The 24-hour systolic blood pressure variation (24 h SBPV),24 hour diastolic blood pressure variation (24 h DBPV),daytime systolic blood pressure variation (dSBPV),daytime diastolic blood pressure variation (dDBPV),nocturnal systolic and diastolic blood pressure variations were recorded and compared.The differences in blood pressure variation between the two groups were compared.Correlation between BPV and prostatic volume (PV) was analyzed.Results There were no statistical differences in variabilities of 24 h SBPV,nSBPV and dSBPV between BPH group and NBPH group(all P＞0.05).24 h DBPV,nDBPV and dDBPV were significantly higher in BPH group than inNBPH group [(18.5±3.3) mmHg vs.(14.1±3.7) mmHg,(17.1±3.4) mmHg vs.(14.9 ±3.4) mmHg,(16.6±4.1) mmHg vs.(12.8±5.1) mmHg,respectively,all P＜0.05].There were correlations of 24 h DBPV,nDBPV and dDBPV with PV (r =0.137,0.032,0.079,respectively,all P＜0.05).Conclusions The diastolic blood pressure variability may associate with the degree of prostatic hyperplasia in the elderly patients with H type hypertension.

ObjectiveTo investigate the age distribution of serum prostate specific antigen (PSA) and explore its correlation with fasting blood glucose(FBG)and lipid in the male elderly.MethodsThe levels of FBG,triglyceride (TG),low-density lipoprotein (LDL-C),high density lipoprotein (HDL-C) and PSA were reviewed in 2903 elderly men (aged ≥ 60 years) in our hospital.The subjects were classified into 6 groups by age,and PSA levels were compared among groups.The correlations of FBG,TG,LDL-C,HDL-C with PSA were analyzed using multiple linear regression analysis.Results The level of PSA had the trend to increase with age.Positive association of TG,LDL with serum PSA level,but negative correlation between HDL and serum PSA level were noted in the group aged 60-64 years (r=0.10,0.15,0.12,P＜0.05).In the group aged 66-69 years,there was negative relationship between FBG and serum PSA(r= 0.10,P＜0.05).No relationship could be found in other groups (P＞0.05).ConclusionsPSA level may increase with age,but without relation with FBG,TG,LDL-C and HDL-C.

Objective To explore the humoral and cellular immune responses of a vaccine of S fragments from a new type reovirus R4 strain in mice.Methods Four recombinant plasmids were constructed by respectively cloning S 1, S2, S3,S4 genes into pcDNA3.1+, and mice were intramuscularly immunized with the recombinant plasmids in a dose of 100 μg/mouse.Control vector pcDNA3.1 +and phosphate buffered saline (PBS) were used as negative controls.The spe-cific antibody level and IgG subclass (IgG1, IgG2a, and IgG2b) were detected by ELISA, and cellular immune responses to R4 were assessed using an interferon ( IFN)-γELISpot assay .Results All recombinant plasmids induced significantly higher levels of anti-R4 IgG compared with that of the controls (pcDNA3.1 +and PBS), and the titers were highest in the mice immunized with S1 and S3.On the other hand, S1 gene induced highest IgG2a antibody and the cellular immune re-sponse was best .Conclusions After the mice immunized with S 1 gene recombinant plasmid , this plasmid can initiate both cellular and humoral immune responses in mice .S1 gene recombinant plasmid is a promising vaccine candidate .

Objectives To investigate the expression of matrix metalloproteinase-9 (MMP-9) and its tissue inhibitor (TIMP-1) in cutaneous squamous cell carcinomas (SCC) and the relationship between the expression and invasive growth and metastasis of SCC. Methods Immunohistochemical method of streptavidin-peroxidase (SP) was used to detect the expression of MMP-9 and TIMP-1 proteins on the paraffin embedded sections of 65 patients with cutaneous SCC and 5 cases of normal epidermis. The immunohistochemical results were analyzed quantitatively using an image analysis system. Results MMP-9 and TIMP-1 proteins were diffusely expressed on the tumor nests and the mesenchymal cells around the nests, while in normal epidermis MMP-9 and TIMP-1 were weakly positive. Objective To analyze the clinical characteristics and the outcome of severe trauma of various ages in emergency department,to improve the therapeutic effect of emergency rescuing.Methods Two thousand and sixty nine patients of severe trauma were treated during a seven-year period from October 1997 to October 2004.The studied patients were divided into 5 groups:(1)adolescent group(Group A,＜13 years old,n=106);(2)juvenile group(Group B, 13-18 years old,n=128);(3)youth group(Group C,18-40 years old,n=1518);(4)middle age group(Group D, 40-60 years old,n=215);and(5)elderly group(Group E,＞60 years old,n=102).All the patients were evaluated with Injury Severity Score(ISS),and the result was≥16 in all of the studied patients.Results The incidence of severe trauma in male in all 5 groups was higher than that in female,and it was significantly higher in Group C,Group D and Group E when compared with that in the other groups(P＜0.01).Traffic accident was the leading cause of injury,and its incidence in Group A,Group B and Group D was higher than that in other groups(P＜0.01).However,injury caused by falling from high places was the second cause of injury,being significantly increased in Group A,while armed fighting and injury during work being significantly increased in Group B,Group C and Group D,slip fall injury being significantly increased in Group E(P＜0.01).Head injury was mainly found in Group A and Group E,extremities injury and/or spinal injury were increased markedly in Group B,Group C and Group D(P＜0.05),abdominal injury was significantly decreased in Group E(P＜0.001).The total mortality was 11.9%(246/2069).The mortality within 24 hours (20.6%,21/102)was significantly higher than that beyond 24 hours(7.8%,8/102)in Group E(P＜0.01).The time of staying in the emergency department differed significantly between the survived patients and those died in all 5 groups (P＜0.01).Conclusion The gender,the incidence and the characteristics of the injury causes and injury sites differed between severely injured patients of various ages.Mortality in the elderly is significantly increased following severe trauma. The idea of“golden one hour”and“platinum ten minutes”,measures of shortening the time of staying in the emergency clinic,early definite operation and damage control operation should be emphasized.

A strain of P. Aeruginosa,which was seperated from clinical environment,shows a special characteristic. It keeps normal short rod shape when cultured at 37℃, however,it forms filament without pyocyanin producing when cultured at 25℃ overnight. The filaments will divide and form short rods, simultaneously, produce pyocyanin when culture time is prolonged to over 72h or culture temperature is raised to 37℃. The preliminary study indicates that this phenomenin has nothing to do with nutritive conditions and could the inbluenced by inoculating density and irradiating with ultraviolet rays The absence of pyocyanin was not the cause of filamentous formation by the test results.

OBJECTIVE:To explore the effects of short-term application of atorvastatin combined with ezetimibe on efficacy and related indicators of patients with primary nephrotic syndrome with hyperlipidemia. METHODS:Data of 50 patients with prima-ry nephrotic syndrome with hyperlipidemia were retrospectively collected and divided into combination group and control group ac-cording different treatment,25 cases in each group. All patients received low-salt,low-fat ,high-quality protein,giving prednisone 1 mg/(kg·d),po,qd,combined with anticoagulation,diuretic,anti-infection,taking cytotoxic drugs if necessary. Based on it, control group received Atorvastatin calcium tablet 20 mg before going to bed,qd;combination group received Atorvastatin calcium tablet(the same dosage and usage with control group)+Ezetimibe tablet 10 mg,qd. They were treated for 2 weeks. Lipid-lowering efficacy and low-density lipoprotein(LDL-C),triglyceride(TG),cholesterol(TC),high-density lipoprotein(HDL-C),24 h uri-nary protein (M-TP),serum albumin,alanine aminotransferase (ALT),aspartate aminotransferase (AST),serum creatinine and blood urea nitrogen before and after treatment in 2 groups were observed and the incidence of adverse reaction was recorded. RE-SULTS:There was no significant differences in the total effective rate of Lipid-lowering in 2 groups(P>0.05). After treatment, LDL-C,TC and HDL-C in 2 groups were significantly lower than before,Alb in combination group and ALT in 2 groups were sig-nificantly higher than before,with statistical significance(P<0.05),while there were no significant difference in 2 groups(P>0.05). And there was no significant difference in the TG,M-TP,AST,serum creatinine and blood urea nitrogen before and after treatment(P>0.05). CONCLUSIONS:Atorvastatin combined with ezetimibe can improve the blood lipid of patients with primary nephrotic syndrome with hyperlipidemia,while showing similar efficacy and safety with atorvastatin alone in a short term.

Abstract: At present, nucleic acid detection technology based on the PCR principle is commonly used to detect malaria parasites, the existing Plasmodium detection methods mainly include microscopy, antigen immunoassay, and nucleic acid detection,but due to the long detection time, high personnel and equipment requirements, and other shortcomings, its popularization, and application at the grassroots level are limited. What challenges previous Plasmodium detection methods are the lack of experienced professionals and advanced equipment at the grassroots as well as the requirement of rapid detection of large samples under extreme conditions. The isothermal amplification technology developed in recent years has potential application prospects due to its simplicity, rapidity, high sensitivity, and high specificity. This article attempts to review the principles, characteristics, and prospects of various isothermal amplification technologies, and on this basis, focuses on the introduction of recombinase polymerase amplification (RPA) and recombinase⁃aided isothermal amplification (RAA) assay technologies and proposes the use of such recombinant enzyme amplification technologies to achieve rapid and accurate diagnosis of common Plasmodium species possibility and imagination.
