Ophthalmology in China 2006;0(05):-
Objective To observe the distribution of cornea Q value in adult myopia, and its relationship with age, sex, eye and refraction.Design Prospective case series.Participants Consecutive 510 patients (1020 eyes) of myopia of adults. Methods Cornea Q values were obtained with OrbscanⅡz Anterior Segment Analysis System in all subjects of adult myopia.Normal distribution test of Q value and correlation analysis with sphere, cylinder, sex, and age were performed.Main Outcome Measures Q value of cornea,corre- lation coefficient. Results In 1020 eyes of adult myopia, the mean Q value was-0.27?0.16 (range from-0.86 to 0.25) with near nor- mal distribution. The difference of Q value between right eyes and left eye was not statistically significant (P=0.675).The Q value be- tween male (-0.26?0.15) and female(-0.27?0.17) was not statistically difference(P=0.697).No significant relation was found Q value with either sphere (r=0.057,P=0.068) or cylinder (r=0.044,P=0.156).Mean Q value of below 20 years old was maximal,-0.24,while over 40 years old was minimal,-0.36,and the difference were statistically significant (P=0.000).Conclusions Q value of cornea has negative shift with the increase of age, especially in over 40 years old.Q value of cornea has no relationship with left or right eyes, sex and refraction, but it is highly customized.
2.Sacral plexus injury and anteroposterior compression zone-Ⅱsacral fractures:a cadaveric study
Chinese Journal of Trauma 2003;0(12):-
Objective To study the mechanism of sacral plexus injury resulting from anteroposteri- or compression zone-Ⅱsacral fractures. Methods Six short-term(within one year)embalmed pelves were obtained from Anatomic Department of Hebei Medical University. The preserved sacral plexus and re- sected pubic symphysis were used to make the models of anteropesterior compression zone-Ⅱsacral frac- tures.Quantitative analysis for fracture displacement was carried out to observe the characteristics and mechanism of sacral plexus injury. The removed sacral plexus was replaced by proportional diameter silica gel pips filled with contrast medium. The experimental procedure was repeated under X-ray.The experi- mental data were analyzed by SPSS 10.0 statistic software to obtain result. Results In anteropostefior compression sacral fracture, sacral nerve canal was gradually opened and its volume raised. No sacral nerve was opressed in nerve canal. However ilium external rotation prolonged sacral nerves, especially S_1,S_4 and the more the pubic symphsis was separated the more the sacral plexus nerves were prolonged. At the same time, the sharp border of fracture segment stabbed the nerves, especially L_5(6 cases),S_1(5 cases)and S_2 (3 eases).Conclsions Sacral plexus is tightly connected with the wall of pelvic cavity and fixed. When zone-Ⅱsacral fractures happen sacral plexus is easily damaged. In anteroposterior compression sacral fracture, nerves S_1 and S_4 are likely to be damaged by dragment, and nerve compression injury is attributed to stabbing by fracture segment border, with L_5 and S_1.more hackneyed.

Background The development of retinopathy of prematurity(ROP) is associated with many regulatory cytokines related to neovascularization;however, the retinal expression and regulated mechanism of stromal cell-derived factor-1 (SDF-1) in mouse model of oxygen-induced retinopathy (OIR) remain uncertain. Objective This study was to investigate the expression of SDF-1 in retina of mouse model of OIR.Methods Forty 7-day-old C57BL/6J mice were divided into OIR group and control group. In OIR group,20 mice were exposed to 75% oxygen for 5 days and then to room air for 5 days.In control group,20 mice were raised in room air.The expression of SDF-1 in retina of mice was studied by immunochemistry and quantified by real time reverse transcriptase polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR).Results The positive immunohistochemical staining for SDF-1 was found mainly locating at the ganglion cell layer in 12-day-old mice of OIR group;the stronger positive immunohistochemical staining for SDF-1 was noted mainly locating at the ganglion cell layer, vascular endothelial cells of inner retina, neovascular endothelial cells in 17-day-old mice of OIR group;the delicate positive immunohistochemical staining for SDF-1 was both found mainly locating at the inner retina and being around the retinal vascular in 12-day-old mice of control group and 17-day-old mice of control group. The expression of SDF-1 mRNA in 17-day-old mice of OIR group was higher than that of 12-day-old mice of OIR group (t=8.072,P<0.05)and 17-day-old mice of control group(t=10.026,P<0.05),respectively.The expression of SDF-1 mRNA in 12-day-old mice of OIR group was lower than that of 12-day-old mice of control group (t=4.336,P<0.05).Conclusion SDF-1 might improve the onset of retinal neovascularization of OIR.

Objective To investigate the effects of intense pulsed light (IPL) irradiation on the content of collagen fibers, elastic fibers and hyaluronic acid in Kunming mouse skin. Methods The dorsal skin of mice was divided into two areas: the right area was irradiated with IPL, and the left remaining unirradiated served as the control. Skin specimens were taken from the back of mice on day 1, 3, week 1, 2, 4 and 8 after the irradiation and subjected to staining with HE, sirius red and Gomori aldehyde-fuchsin for examinations of histological changes, type Ⅰ and Ⅲ collagen fibers and elastic fibers. The hydroxyproline and hyaluronic acid content in skin tissues of mice was determined with ultraviolet spectrophotometry and radioimmunoassay respectively. Results After irradiation, a significant increase was observed in dermal thickness on week 2 (t =4.623, P< 0.05), 4, and 8 (t = 3.904, P< 0.05), in type Ⅲ collagen fiber (t = 5.129, P< 0.05) on week 1,in type Ⅰ and Ⅲ collagen fibers on week 2, 4 and 8 (both P< 0.05), in elastic fibers from week 2 to 8 (P <0.05), and in hydroxyproline content from week 1 to 8 (all P < 0.05) in the skin of mice compared with unirradiated mice. In detail, dermal thickness increased by 18.71% on week 4, and type Ⅲ collagen fiber by 40.54% in irradiated mice compared with unirradiated mice. Further more, the hyaluronic acid content was elevated from day 1 to 3, but gradually declined from week 1 to 8, and remained statistically higher from day 1 to week 8 (P < 0.05) in irradiated mice compared to unirradiated mice. Conclusion IPL irradiation could induce an increase in the content of collagen fiber, elastic fiber and hyaluronic acid in the dorsal skin of mice.
