Aim To investigate the effects of meloxi-cam on the proliferation, migration and expression of PTEN of human colorectal cancer LoVo cells.Meth-ods The colony formation test was used to detect the effect of meloxicam on the proliferation of LoVo cells. The cell migration assay was applied to analyze the effect of meloxicam on LoVo cells activity. The RT-PCR assay was used to detect the effect of meloxicam on the mRNA expression of PCNA and PTEN gene. The western blot assay was applied to analyze the effects of meloxicam on the expression of PTEN pro-tein.The recombinant adenovirus and Annexin-V assay were used to testify the relationship between PTEN gene and anti-cancer effect of meloxicam. Results Compared with the control group, meloxicam could in-hibit the colony formation and PCNA protein expression of LoVo cells. At 48 h and 80 μmol·L -1 ,the expres-sion of PCNA protein was reduced to 61 .57% ± 2.81 %(T =7.086,P =0.01 9),the mRNA expres-sion of PTEN gene increased to 1 60.43% ±4.71 %(T=24.244,P =0.002),and the expression of PTEN protein increased to 1 52.63% ±3.33%(T =27.359, P =0.001 ).Results Annexin-V test indicated that the anti-cancer effect of meloxicam was associated with the up-regulated expression of PTEN.Conclusions Meloxicam can inhibit the proliferation and migration of LoVo cells by up-regulating the expression of PTEN.

OBJECTIVETo explore the effect of the expanded capsule on biomechanics of the transplanted autologous costal cartilage.
METHODSTen New Zealand white rabbits aged 3 months were involved and four 15 ml tissue expanders were implanted symmetrically on the back of each rabbit. After 1 month, expanded capsules were removed (experimental group) on the left side and were reserved (control group) on the right side. Meanwhile, the 6th and 7th costal cartilage without the perichondrium were taken out and each cartilage was divided into two pieces and put under the expanded capsule symmetrically. The cartilage at the upper sides and lower sides were taken out at 4 weeks and 8 weeks later, respectively. All the cartilages were sculptured for the demand of the machine text. The tension and compression property of the cartilages were assessed by the material testing machine (Instron 5967) and the results were analyzed statistically.
RESULTS8 weeks lateral, the average ultimate tension strength was (4. 954 + 2. 8) MPa in experimental group and (2.939 + 0.842) MPa in control group. The average compressive strength was (58.74 ± 13.77) MPa in experimental group, and (47.61 ± 11.41) MPa in control group. The biomechanics property of the cartilages in the experimental group is better than the control group, and the differences were statistically significant.
CONCLUSIONSRemoving the expanded capsule is benefical to maintain the biomechanics of autologous costal cartilage.

Objective To clone and sequence the cDNA encoding(S)-N-methylcoclaurine-3'-hydroxylase from Coptis chinensis. Methods The cDNA,encoding(S)-N-methylcoclaurine-3'-hydroxylase,was amplified by RT-PCR with cDNA library of tender leaf as the template. Results The full-length cDNA of(S)-N-methylcoclaurine-3'-hydroxylase(named as CYP80B3) had 1 680 bp with an open reading frame encoding 488 amino acids of protein. The CYP80B3 had 95%,82%,70%,and 68% amino acid sequence homology to the sequence of(S)-N-methylcoclaurine-3'-hydroxylase from C.japonica,Thalictrum flavum,Eschscholzia californica and Papaver somniferum, respectively. The sequence was reported to the GenBank and coded as EF492879.Comparison of sequence with(S)-N-methylcoclaurine-3'-hydroxylase from C.japonica showed CYP80B3 possessed the same functional regions involved with 3'-hydroxylation of(S)-N-methylcoclaurine.Conclusion The cDNA encoding CYP80B3 from C.chinensis was cloned and reported. This work underlays the first step for exploring the pathway of benzylisoquinoline alkaloid biosynthesis and for improving the content of benzylisoquinoline alkaloid in C.chinensis.

Academia-industry collaboration is defined as the cooperation between both sides, utilizing the capitals and pathways of the industrial side as well as the faculties and facilities of the academic side to push the products to the market with cost minimization as well as profit or utility maximization. All the group members share the results to attain the double win.The six key steps to establish this collaboration include creating the cooperation platform, signing related agreements, constructing related hard and software, setting a company for operation, performing experiment, licensing, patent or technique transfer, products marketing as well as sharing profits.Several issues should be known while this collaboration established in the biomedical field, especially about the ethics of human studies. The influencing factors of its effectiveness would be analyzed in the present paper.

Objective To investigate the possible causes of surgical site infection(SSI)in neurosurgical patients in a hospital during a short period of time. Methods Medical data of 135 neurosurgical operative patients from February 1 to March 15,2013 were reviewed, the possible risk factors for SSI were analyzed retrospectively with case-control study. Results Of 135 operative neurosurgical patients,5 (3.70%)developed SSI.Case-control study showed that the ratio of the run of the fifth operating room and undergoing of secondary operation was 4.07 (95%CI :0.52 -36.65)and 18.00(95%CI :2.00 -180.00)respectively.The difference between each surgeon special SSI rate and the average SSI rate in 2012 (2.54%[17/669])was not significantly different (P >0.05).Bacterial detection of en-vironmental specimens of the fifth operating room showed that except anesthetic cuff exceeded standard, the others were met the national requirements, and the isolated bacteria from anesthetic cuff was coagulase negative Staphylo-coccus ,which was not related with pathogens in infection. Conclusion “The secondary surgery”is the key risk fac-tor for SSI of neurosurgical patients.

Objective To evaluate the application of dynamic magnetic resonance imaging in the diagnosis of female stress urinary incontinence(SUI). Methods Dynamic magnetic resonance imaging(DMRI)were performed on 30 healthy female volunteers and 35 female SUI patients.DMRI of the pelvic floor at rest and OR maximal strain were performed by using sagittal T2-weighted fast gradient sequences. The distance of Urethra-vesical junction to the pubococcygeal line, the posterior vesicourethral angle and angle of inclination of the urethral axis were measured at rest and on maximal strain position. The t-value exact test were used to analyze the data. Results At rest the Urethravesical junction laid above pubococcygeal line on both control and SUI groups.Mean distance from the Urethra-vesical junction to pubococcygeal line at rest had no difference between the two groups. On straining, the mean Urethra-vesical junction descent distance in the SUI group(-0.9±1.1cm)was significantly higher than in control group(-0.14±0.3 cm),(P<0.001).On straining, the mean angle of urethral inclination in the SUI group(65±37°)was significantly bigger than in control groups (17±21°),(P<0.05).The posterior vesicourethral angle in the SUI groups(156±36°)was significantly bigger than in control groups(113±28°),(P<0.05). Conclusion Dynamic magnetic resonance imaging is a non-invasive.easily applied method in the diagnosis of SUI.
