International Journal of Traditional Chinese Medicine 2016;38(10):877-879
Objectives To observe the effect of Jianpi-Huayu decoction for preventing the patients from the recurrence of colonic adenoma after endoscopic mucosal resection. Methods A total of 60 patients with colonic adenoma who received endoscopic mucosal resection were divided randomly into the experimental group (taking Jianpi-Huayu decoction) and the controlled group (taking nothing as treatment), 30 patients in each group. Both groups were treated for 1 year. After 1 year, colonscopy was taken, and the number and size of colonic adenoma were recorded. The expression of COX-2, Ki67 in the colonic mucosa were detected the immunohistochemistry, and the negative rate of COX-2, Ki67 were also detected. Results After the treatment, the number (0.20 ± 0.48 vs. 1.67 ± 1.54, t=4.980) and size (0.23 ± 0.57 vs. 2.73 ± 2.80, t=4.788) of colonic adenoma in the experimental group were statistically lower than those in the ontrolled group (P<0.01);the expression of COX-2 (1.96 ± 1.27 vs. 3.64 ± 1.95, t=3.673) and Ki67 (2.04 ± 1.46 vs. 4.50 ± 1.73, t=5.558) in the the experimental group were statistically lower than those in the ontrolled group (P<0.01). The number of the paitents whose COX-2, Ki67 negative rates in the experimental group were 21 and 22, and the control group were 12(P=0.004) and 14 (P<0.001), which showed the significant difference between two groups. Conclusions The Jianpi-Huayu decoction could reduce recurrence of colonic adenoma after endoscopic mucosal resection, the mechanism was decreasing the expression of COX-2, Ki67 in colonic mucosa.

Objective To study the protective effect of estrogen against neuronal injury and the possible roles of alteration in the expression of bcl- 2 following cerebral ischemia. Methods rats were ovariectomized.Brain ischemia was induced by left middle cerebral artery occlusion (MCAO) for 2 hours, and 22 hours of reperfusion, all animals were killed. The cerebral cortex sector histology was examined under light microscope (both qualitatively and quantitatively). The expression of bcl- 2 was analyzed with immunohistochemical method. Results In estrogen- treated groups, the density of normal neruons were significantly higher(P<0.05);Estrogen increased the expression of bcl-2(P<0.05).Conclusions The neuroprotective of estrogen was associated with up-regulation of bcl-2 in cerebral ischemia.

A sensitive ABC or PAP immunohistochemical technique visualized with glucose oxidase-DAB-nickel method was used to examine the distribution and characteristics of the supraependymal serotoninergic nerve fibers (5-HT-SEP) in the adult rat forebrain. Three types of fibers could be distinguished: a few thick fibers (about 0.9?m in diameter), large amount of intermediate fibers (about 0.4?m in diameter), and numerous thin fibers (about 0.1?m in diameter). Although the 5-HT-SEP were found in all areas of the forebrain ependyma, the density and distribution patterns of different fiber types varied. In addition, the correspondence between the densities of ependymal cilia and 5-HT-SEP indicates the modulation of the cilia activity by 5-HT-SEP.

Objective To analyze MRI findings of cesarean scar pregnancy (CSP). Methods The MR findings in 18 patients who were diagnosed as CSP by surgery from March 2010 to November 2011 were retrospectively analyzed, and comparison was made between the MRI findings and surgical results. Results All Gestational sacs (18) were clearly detected by MRI.Among the 18 cases, gestational sac presented as cystic mass with smooth margin located within the scar of uterine wall at the lower anterior uterus in 16 cases. In 2 of the 16 cases, gestational sac was found within the myometrium, whereas in the remaining 14 cases, gestational sac was found partially within the myometrium with extension into the uterine cavity. The anteior wall of isthmus uteri became thinner. In the remaining 2 of the 18 cases, gestational sac presented as irregular, multilobolated mass, growing deep inot the myometrium as well as into the uterinecavity. On T2WI,the mass showed heterogeneous signal intensity. A small amount of hemorrhage within the mass and uterine cavity could be seen on T1 WI. An enhancing solid component with a heterogeneous mass could be seen. All gestational sacs in 18 cases were located at or adjacent to the previous cesarean scar.In the area of cesarean scar, the signal of the uterine wall was disconnected, with focal indentation or thinning and the previous cesarean scar exhibited hypointensity on both T1WI and T2WI.Conclusion CSP has its unique findings on MRI,these specific features can provide useful information in the management of CSP.
