Chinese Journal of Trauma 2001;17(6):353-355
Objective To investigate the changes of free triiodothyronine (FT3) and its therapeutic effects on heart dysfunction after thoracic trauma. Methods Eighteen rabbits were assigned randomly into 3 groups. The rabbits in Group A were served as a control, that in Group B were shot at the left thoracic wall passing through the cardiac region with small diameter rifle, that in Group C were treated by FT3 into veins (10 ng/kg) after thoracic trauma. Results In Group B, MAP was much lower than that in Group A after trauma (P<0.05). In Group B, LVEDP and CVP respectively was much higher than that in Group A. Plasm concentration of cTnT in Group B was much higher than that in Group A. But level of FT3 was in Group B decreased more markedly than that in Group A after trauma. In myocardial interstitium, many red cells were leaked out of vessel. In Group C, MAP was much higher than that in Group B, no significant difference was found. CVP and LVEDP in Group C were much lower than that in Group B. Level of FT3 was near to normal and much higher than that in Group B. Edema of myocardial cells and hemorrhage of myocardial interstitium were alleviated markedly. Conclusions Rabbits shot dead at the left thoracic wall passing through cardiac region with small diameter rifle can contribute to an animal model establishment of heart dysfunction. Reduction of FT3 is in correspondence with heart dysfunction. Correcting thyroid sick syndrome after trauma can improve significantly the heart function.
2. A pilot study on the diagnostic value of high resolution microendoscopy for colorectal cancer
Medical Journal of Chinese People's Liberation Army 2016;41(9):746-749
Objective To summarize the image feature of normal colorectal mucosa and colorectal cancer tissues based on high-resolution microendoscopy (HRME), and evaluate the feasibility of HRME in the diagnosis of colorectal cancer. Methods Twelve colorectal cancer surgical specimens confirmed by pathology and 56 biopsy specimens from colorectal lesions by conventional endoscopy were selected for the study. The normal mucosa and colorectal cancer tissue were imaging-observed to establish the HRME-diagnostic criteria of the normal mucosa and colorectal cancer tissues taking pathological diagnosis as the gold standard. According to the established criteria, the 56 biopsy specimens of colorectal lesions were HRME-imaged, and the prediagnosis was made. The prediagnosis result was compared with the pathological results for evaluating the diagnostic value of HRME. Results In the prospective study of 56 colorectal lesion specimens, 25 patients were diagnosed with cancer by HRME, of which 21 cases were confirmed by pathological examination. 31 specimens were diagnosed as non-cancerous tissues by HRME, and 29 were confirmed by pathology. The sensitivity, specificity, accuracy, positive predictive value, and negative predictive value of HRME in diagnosis of colorectal cancer were 91.3%, 87.9%, 89.3%, 84.0%, 93.5% respectively. The Kappa value was 0.78. Conclusions HRME can distinguish cancerous lesion from non-cancerous colon tissue, and have good consistency with pathological diagnosis, thus is of good prospects in terms of guidance for biopsy and diagnosis of colon cancer.

An important premise of Marxism is to attach importance to human health. Although Marx did not specially discuss health problems, many of his writings contain a rich view of health, which is an important part of the Marxist theoretical system. From the viewpoint of the formation mechanism, the emergence of Marx’s health thought is based on the historical development of the demand for the scientific view of health, developed in Marx’s in-depth thinking and research on historical materialism, sublimated in the need to guide the realistic movement of the working class at that time, and continuously enriched and developed based on practical experience. In terms of the composition of content, Marx’s health thought includes emphasis on workers’ health rights, concern for the public living environment, and the proposition that health is a necessary quality for people in future society. It provides ideological guidance for the cultivation of people’s view of health, theoretical enlightenment for the promotion of the construction of a healthy China, and a powerful weapon for resolving global health problems.

In the process of drug clinical trials, while proposing positive countermeasures to the legal and practical issues they raise, more attention should be paid to the ethical aspects of their responsibility, such as loss of the subjects’ sense of personal responsibility, insufficient supervision by regulatory bodies, responsible parties of researcher ignoring the spirit of the contract, and conflicts between professional requirements and individual requirements. In response to the above issues, based on the principle of responsible ethics, specific countermeasures were proposed, such as cultivating personal awareness of responsibility ethics, strengthening the standards of industry ethical review, improving informed consent compensation clauses, and cultivating research subjects’ awareness of responsibility ethics, thus to enhance the protection of the rights and interests of drug clinical trials’ subjects, as well as to protect the subjects’ rights and interests of life and health.

Chinese Medical Ethics 2024;37(7):764-769
Palliative care, as the most special way to treat malignant tumors, is not only conducive to improving the quality of life and life value of patients, as well as alleviating the physical and mental pain of patients and their families, but also can help to relieve their financial burden and effectively avoid the waste of limited public resources. However, in the actual promotion of palliative care services, various ethical issues are encountered, such as the dignity of death, the need for psychological care, and the patient’s right to independent decision-making. From the perspective of bioethics, by analyzing different types of practical disputes, this paper revealed their inherent ethical problems, and proposed specific countermeasures from the aspects of defending patient dignity, breaking the limitations of traditional cognition, and establishing a field model for joint decision-making between doctors and patients, so as to build a palliative care service model that suits China’s national conditions and safeguard the patients’ life rights and interests with malignant tumors.

The study is designed to evaluate the protective effect of xanthan gum (XG) injection on cartilage injury in the rabbit osteoarthritis (OA) model induced by anterior cruciate ligament transection (ACLT), and to explore the effect of XG on the expression of caspase-3 and Bax protein in OA cartilage. Sixty male New Zealand white rabbits were randomly divided into 6 groups (n=10) according to random number table method, and one group was selected randomly as the normal control group (control) while the other 5 groups of right knee were used to establish the OA model with ACLT, which were then divided into model group (model), XG-0.6 mg·kg-1, XG-1.2 mg·kg-1, XG-2.4 mg·kg-1 treatment group and sodium hyaluronate (SH-1.2 mg·kg-1) treatment group according to drug intervention. The knee joint temperature and knee joint width of each group were measured in the course of treatment. After treatment, the macroscopic morphology of rabbit joints in each group was observed. The pathological morphology of articular cartilage of rabbits in each group was observed using HE staining. The expression of Bax and cleaved caspase-3 in the cartilage of rabbits were detected by Western blot. The result shows that XG inhibited the increase in knee joint temperature and knee width caused by OA in a dose-dependent manner. XG improved the morphological abnormalities and tissue injuries of the femoral condyle and tibial plateau caused by OA. Western blot result shows that, compared with the control group, the levels of Bax and cleaved caspase-3 in knee cartilage cells of model group and XG-0.6 mg·kg-1 group were significantly increased (P<0.01). However, no significant difference was observed in the levels of Bax and cleaved caspase-3 between the model group and the XG-0.6 mg·kg-1 group (P>0.05). These two groups are significantly higher than those of XG-1.2 mg·kg-1 and XG-2.4 mg·kg-1 (P<0.01) groups. Meanwhile, no significant difference was observed in the level of cleaved caspase-3 between the knee cartilage in XG-2.4 mg·kg-1 and XG-1.2 mg·kg-1 group (P>0.05). The level of Bax in knee cartilage in XG-2.4 mg·kg-1 group was lower than that of XG-1.2 mg·kg-1 group (P<0.05). In conclusion, XG effectively protected cartilage damage in OA, and inhibited the expression of Bax and caspase-3 protein in OA cartilage.

Chinese Medical Ethics 2022;35(2):164-168
In view of the current norms and demands of human gene editing technology at home and abroad, the paper explained that the regulatory difficulties faced by human gene editing technology were due to the conflict between economic interests and moral bottom line by constructing a game model in a hypothetical way. On this basis, the ideas of the supervision mode of human gene editing technology were put forward: establish unified international standards based on the country as the main body, enact more stringent and effective laws, to jointly deal with the behavior of genetic manipulation of human gametes, zygotes and embryos for the purpose of reproductive, and ensure the normalization and legalization of gene editing technology to avoid technology abuse.
