Objective To evaluate the use of tryptase in diagnosing allergic diseases.Methods Serum tryptase was measured by Unicap 100 in 35 patients with different types and states of allergic diseases, and 30 healthy volunteers as controls ;Serum tryptases were compared with IgE level.Results Among the 35 allergic patients, 18 cases were with chronic urticaria(4.74?2.54)?g/L; 10 cases had past histories of anaphylaxis shocks(4.86?2.55)?g/L ;7 cases were in acute phase of anaphylaxis(17.4?7.87)?g/L ;30 healthy volunteers(4.36?1.67)?g/L. A statistically significant increase in tryptase concentration was found in patients with acute phase of anaphylaxis compared with other groups.No correlation was found between tryptase concentration and total IgE level.Conclusions Measurement of Serum tryptase level could be an additional tool for diagnosis of anaphylaxis but not chronic urticaria.

Objective: To investigate the effect of Nano-Se with lower toxicity on the anti-tumor effect of cisplatin. Method: For toxicity comparison, mice were orally administered Nano-Se and sodium selenite to observe death, body weight loss and liver injury. As to the protective effect of Nano-Se on the toxicity of cisplatin, mice with and without Nano-Se supplementation were injected cisplatin to observe death and body weight loss. For evaluation of whether Nano-Se influence the anti-tumor effect of cisplatin, Lewis lung carcinoma was transplanted into mice, and the survivor and tumor volume were recorded to compare the effect of Nano-Se supplementation on cisplatin. Results: The toxicity of Nano-Se is significantly lower than sodium selenite. Nano-Se can decrease toxicity of cisplatin without compromising its anti-tumor effect. Conclusion: Nano-Se with lower toxicity can improve the therapeutic effect of cisplatin.

OBJECTIVE To investigate the bacteriologic feature and the spectrum of drug resistance in lung cancer patients who got nosocomial nonfermenters bacteria infection,and to conclude the experience and how to prevent and control the nosocomial infection.METHODS A rectrospective analysis of the composition of the pathogens,the feature of drug resistance and the prognosis of 109 lung cancer inpatients with nosocomial infection was made.RESULTS Nosocomial nonfermenters bacteria infections were most happened in hospital lung cancer patients.Main strains included Pseudomonas aeruginosa 55(49.5%),Acinetobacter baumannii 23(20.7%),and Stenotrophomonas maltophilia 8(7.2%).The sensitive rate of P.aeruginosa to imipenem was 100%,but to Cotrimoxazole,the resistant rate was 100%.The sensitive rate was relatively high to ticarcillin,piperacillin and their compounds.The antimicrobial resistance rate of A.baumannii was higher than P.aeruginosa.Stenotrophomonas were resistant to most antibiotics,and the resistance rate to imipenem was 100.0%.CONCLUSIONS The resistance rate of nosocomial nonfermenters bacteria infection is high.The treatment is difficult and the prognosis is bad.The mortality of multiple infection is high.

Objective To label rat bone marrow mesenchymal stem cells (BMSCs) with superparamagnetic iron oxide in vitro, and to monitor the survivorship and location of the labeled BMSCs in rat models of traumatic brain injury (TBI) with high field MR. Methods BMSCs were cultivated in vitro, and were labeled with SPIO. TBI models were built in the left hemisphere of the rats with Feeney's method. Then SPIO-labeled BMSCs were grafted stereotactically into the region nearby the contusion site 24 h later. The rats underwent MR examination 1 day, 3 days, 1 week and 3 weeks after implantation. Results Brown iron particles could be demonstrated in the SPIO-labeled BMSCs under inverted phase contrast microscope. Numerous intracytoplastic iron particles were stained with Prussian blue, and diffused distribution of iron particles could be seen in the intracytoplasm under electron microscope. At implanted sites low signal intensity could be observed on every sequence of MR examination, among which T2~*WI and SWI were better than other sequences, and SWI was the best. Conclusion MR is sensitive of tracking the survivorship and location of the labeled BMSCs, and SWI is the most sensitive sequence to detect the labeled cells.

Objective To explore the relationship between quality of life and sub-health state of Guangdong urban dwellers.Methods A total of 2 200 urban dwellers were investigated using SF-36 and Sub-Heahh Measurement Scale Version 1.0(SHMS V1.0).Results As for the scores in PCS,MCS,psychosocial symptom,cognitive function,social adaptability,those of man urban dwellers (respectively (78.89± 15.25),(73.15 ± 15.26),(63.73± 18.82),(62.13± 19.34),(68.04± 17.90)) were higher than those of woman dwellers (respectively(76.98± 14.20),(71.76± 14.72),(60.53± 18.28),(57.00± 17.89),(65.73± 17.07)).The difference was statistically significant (P＜0.05).Bivariate correlation analysis showed that the PCS and MCS of quality of life were positively related with all dimensions of sub-health (P＜0.001).Canonical correlation analysis indicated that vitality,social adaptability,psychosocial symptom and positive emotion were the main factors of sub-health status,and MCS was of quality of life.Conclusion Sub-health state of Guangdong urban dwellers is positively related with quality of life,and the more serious sub-health state is,the worse quality of life is.Therefore,intervention of subhealth and quality of life should be targeted to be strengthened according to the investigation.

Objective:With selenomethionine as reference,we investigated the bioavailability and toxicity of methylselenocysteine. Method:Selenium retention,glutathione peroxidase and thioredoxin reductase activities were tested to compare bioavailability. Acute toxicity and short-term selenium-tolerance were studied to compare toxicity. Results:Selenomethionine and methylselenocysteine were comparable in ability of increasing selenoenzymes. Selenomethionine caused much higher selenium retention,especially at higher levels and lower toxicity indicated by acute toxicity and short-term selenium-tolerance. Conclusion:Compared with selenomethionine,methylselenocysteine has equal efficacy on selenoenzymes with the characterization of less retention,but higher toxicity.

To compare the chemical components of supercritical extracts from Herba Ephedrae and honey-prepared Herba Ephedrae. Volatile oils were extracted from Herba Ephedrae and honey-prepared Herba Ephedrae by supercritical CO 2 extraction and then identified by the combination of gas chromatography and mass spectrometry (GC-MS). Twenty kinds of components such as diethylsulfate obtained from Herba Ephedrae were not found in honey-prepared Herba Ephedrae and twelve different components such as hydroxymethylfurfural were obtained from honey-prepared Herba Ephedrae. The extraction rate of volatile oils was 2.1% in herba ephedrae and 1.0% in honey-prepared Herba Ephedrae. [ Conclusion]The components of supercritical extractions from Herba Ephedrae differ from those in honey-prepared Herba Ephedrae.

Objective To investigate the clinicopathologic features and imaging findings of several kinds of rare and uncommon brain embryonal tumours. Methods MRI or CT appearance and clinicopathologic features in 10 eases of histopathology confirmed brain embryonal tumours were retrospectively analyzed.Results Among 10 cases,there were supratentorial primitive neuroectodermal tumour(sPNET) in 6,ependymoblastoma in 2,medulloepithelioma and atypical teratoid/rhabdoid tumour (AT/RT)in 1 respectively.Patients in 4 cases were infancy and childhood.There was characteristic of the clinicopathologic features of tumors that were the evidence of accurate diagnosis. All lesions were located in the supratentorial region.The tumors were large,usually lobulated in shape irregularly and showed heterogeneous density or signal intensity with some cystic and necrotic areas.The tumors parenchyma appeared slightly high density on CT imaging,iso-or high signal on T2WI and slight low signal on T1WI with intense enhancement after contrast injection.Conclusion MRI or CT findings of rare and uncommon brain embryonal tumours were not characteristic,it Was very essential to know the tumors combined with the clinical and pathologic features.

Objective To explore the difference of cognitive function and psychosocial function between remitted bipolar disorder(BPD) and remitted schizophrenia.Methods 8 neuropsychological tests (17 items)which evaluate attention,verbal learning and memory,visual memery and executive function were given to 30 remitted BPD,32 remitted schizophrenia and 34 normal controls.The differences of cognitive functions between the three groups were compared using multivariate analysis of variance (MANOVA).Psychosocial functions of remitted BPD and remitted schizophrenia were both evaluated by Global Assessment Function (GAF),and the difference of Psychosocial functions between the two groups was also tested by MANOVA.Results1.Remitted schizophrenia showed dysfunction in neuropsychological tests except Stroop C and digit span subtest-forward compared with controis.but Remitted BPD only showed dysfunction in 9 neuropsychological items compared with controls.There was no significantly differences on WCST,digit span subtest-backward,and TMT-B between remitted BPD and remitted schizophrenia,the degree of impairment of the two groups was same.But scores from logical memory sub-test and Stroop CW of remitted schizophrenia were significantly lower than that of remitted BPD( ( 8.13 ± 3.35),( 12.11 ±3.72),(6.00 ±3.09),(9.78 ±3.60);(48.61±15.73),(69.33 ±21.04),P＜0.05).There was significant difference on scores of GAF between remitted BPD and remitted schizophrenia.Conclusion There are some overlap in cognitive impairment in remitted BPD and remitted schizophrenia,but in remitted schizophrenia the cognitive profile is characterized by generalized and severer pattern of deficits.The psychosocial function of remitted BPD is better than that of remitted schizophrenia.
