1.Recent progress on study of the selection of intraocular lens in the bilateral sequential cataract surgery
Chinese Journal of Experimental Ophthalmology 2014;32(6):560-562
Bilateral sequential cataract surgery is very common in clinical, but the ophthalmologists often ignore how to choose the timing of operation and whether the first eye can be used to improve the intraocular lens (IOL) power calculation for the second one.Despite the refinements in IOL selection with the use of third-generation IOL formulas,5% of eyes still result in a postoperative refractive surprise of ± 1.00 D or more. This paper introduced the methods of using refraction error of the first eye to improve the IOL power calculation for the second eye,and the refractive error of the second eye can be improved by modifying the IOL power to correct up to 50% of the error from the first eye in details.Because of the variation of the postoperative refractive surprise within a month, the interval of three to four weeks between two eyes cataract surgery is highly recommended. These conclusions may provide the advantageous guidance for us in the selection of IOL in bilateral cataract surgery.

The antimicrobial peptide magainin II is expressed in the skin of the African clawed frog, Xenopus laevis, and exhibits a broad spectrum of antimicrobial activity as well as tumoricidal properties at low concentrations. In addition, magaininII plays a synergistic role during antimicrobial and tumoricidal processes with another antimicrobial peptide PGLa that is also expressed in Xenopus laevis. The optimized cDNA sequence of magainin II and magainin II-PGLa hybrid peptide according to E. coli or Pichia pastoris codon usage frequency were synthesized and sub-cloned into prokaryotic expression vector pGEX and Pichia pastoris secreted expression vector pPIC9k. The resulting recombinant plasmids were named as pGEX-magainin II and pPIC9k-magainin II-PGLa. The GST-magainin II fusion protein was highly expressed in E. coli. Furthermore, magainin II was successfully purified by digestion with PreScission Protease to cleave the GST tag. Additionally, our data obtained from the ELISA revealed that magainin II -PGLa hybrid peptide was successfully expressed in Pichia pastoris. These experiments establish a useful system for further studies of these antimicrobial peptides.

4.Current situation and development trend of POCT in cardiovascular disease
Chinese Journal of Laboratory Medicine 2013;(6):494-497
Cardiovascular disease (CVD) is one of the most common diseases and the leading causes of death in China. It is of great importance to detect cardiac markers for early diagnosis, treatment and prognosis of CVD.Point of care testing (POCT) is emerging as a new test mode and development trend of laboratory medicine.Application of POCT technology in cardiovascular field is the fastest growing parts of all POCT.It promotes the application and development of POCT because of the contradiction between the important value of cardiac markers and the needs of quick results in severe CVD.With the technological diversification of POCT,the progressing innovation of test devise and standardized test results with reference to the Central Laboratory (CLT),the application of POCT will be more extensive and promote the development of laboratory medicine together with traditional test mode.

Chinese Journal of Primary Medicine and Pharmacy 2013;20(7):984-985
Objective To explore the influence of vacuum sealing drainage(VSD) technology in snake bite treatment. Methods 108 patients of snake bites need to incision decompression were randomly divided into two groups,VSD group (VSD) 58 cases, conventional group (wound change dressings ordinarily) 50 cases. The secondary suture of time, the number of change dressings, material consumption fees, antibiotics use cost, wound infection rate,in hospital, average length of hospital stay were compared between two groups. Results Compared the VSD group with the conventional group, the secondary suture of time (t =11.743,P < 0.05),the number of change dressings (t =50.661,P < 0.05),material consumption fees (t =9.054,P < 0.05),antibiotics use cost (t =21.515,P < 0.05),wound infection rate (x2 =9.155,P < 0.05),in hospital, average length of hospital stay (t =10.350,P < 0.05) had significant differences. Conclusion VSD technique can be a ideal way to treat snake bites patients and worth popularizing at this stage.
7.Discussions on current situations and strategies for case teaching among medical marketing majors
Chinese Journal of Medical Education Research 2013;(1):24-26
Questionnaire survey of case teaching was conducted among medical marketing majors, the results showed that case method was widely used in the teaching for medical marketing majors and was approved by most students, however, deficiencies still existed including lack of required teaching skills, outdated teaching concept,low-quality cases, inappropriate teaching methods, few participation, etc. To solve these problems, during the preparation and implementation of case teaching, teachers must update their teaching concept, participate in more training programs, improve case qualities, reengineer case activities and evaluate the effects at each phase.
8.Relationship between the inflammatory-nutritional index and recurrence and prognosis in patients with ;gastric cancer
The Journal of Practical Medicine 2015;(6):936-939
Objective To investigate the correlation between the inflammatory-nutritional index (INI) and recurrence and prognosis in patients with gastric cancer. Methods A total of 78 cases patients of gastric cancer with recurrence and 64 cases without recurrence were enrolled. INI was calculated by the ratio of serum albumin and C-reactive protein. The value of INI predicting recurrence was analyzed using receiver operating characteristic curve (ROC). According to this value, the Kaplan-Meier curves and Cox regression analysis were used to evaluate the effect of INI on prognosis. Results Compared with the control group, the recurrence group showed smaller INI, larger tumors, lower degree of differentiation, deeper invasion and higher TNM stage, the differences were statistically significant (all P < 0.01); The INI significantly predicted the recurrence of gastric cancer, with a sensitivity of 62.5%, specificity of 79.5% and critical value of 0.36 (P < 0.01); Additionally, The pathological features were worse in the low INI group than the high INI group , the differences were statistically significant (P < 0.01); The INI significantly predicted the prognosis of gastric cancer, with a sensitivity of 65.9%, specificity of 66.8% and the critical value of 0.34 (P < 0.01); Obviously, the survival rate was lower in the low INI group than the high INI group (48.8% vs 25.0%, P < 0.01). Furthermore, INI was an independent risk factor for prognosis of gastric cancer (OR = 1.78, 95% CI: 1.34 ~ 2.59, P < 0.01). Conclusion The INI is closely related to the characteristics of gastric cancer, it is an effective marker to predict recurrence and prognosis of gastric cancer.
