Rho(Ras homologue) family play an import ant role in intracellular signal-transduction pathways. Not until recently have they been found to overexpress in many kinds of tumors such as testicular germ cell tumor, colorectal tumor, breast cancer, ductal adenocarcinoma of the pancreas and prostate cancer and been linked to the tumorigenesis and metastasis. So the members of the Rho family of small guanosine triphosphatases would be new marker s for tumor diagnosis、new markers for the prediction of metastatic potential an d new important prognostic factors. Moreover, they have the potential as therape utic targets for the prevention of cancer invasion and metastasis. In this artic le, we review the recent progress in this field.

Objective: To develop the native Chinese Affective Picture System (CAPS) for future research on emotion. Methods: 852 pictures were screened out to make up of CAPS. 46 Chinese university students were collected to rate the valence, arousal and dominance by self-report in a 9-point rating scale for CAPS. Results: The standard deviations of scores on valence and dominance were greater than that on arousal. Scatter plot showed that the score distribution on the dimension of valence and arousal was wide in CAPS. Conclusion: Though IAPS (International Affective Picture System) is highly internationally-accessible, there are still significant differences between the two sources. The native Chinese Affective Picture System is necessary.

Objective To investigate the association of transforming growth factor (TGF) gene rs1800469 (TGF1-509C/T) and rs1982073 (TGF1+869T/C) single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNP) with susceptibility of lung cancer. Methods The case group consisted of 193 histologically diagnosed lung cancer patients, and control group of 211 controls were selected from cancer-free patients at the same time. The single nucleotide polymorphisms of rs1800469 (TGF1-509C/T) and rs1982073(TGF1+869T/C) were analyzed by real-time fluorescent quantitative reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction method. The demographic characteristics, correlated risk factors of exposure and SNP between 2 groups were compared. Results The genotype distribution frequency of TGF1+869T/C and TGF1-509C/T in control group was accorded with Hardy-Weinberg law (P>0.05). The TT, TC and CC genotype distribution frequency in TGF1+869T/C in case group were 16.1%(31/193), 55.4%(107/193) and 28.5%(55/193), while these in control group were 22.3% (47/211), 50.2% (106/211) and 27.5% (58/211), and there were no statistical differences (P>0.05). The TT, TC and CC genotype distribution frequency in TGF1-509C/T in case group were 28.0%(54/193), 56.0%(108/193) and 16.1%(31/193), while these in control group were 27.0% (57/211), 51.2% (108/211) and 21.8% (46/211), and there were no statistical differences (P>0.05). The allele in rs1800469 (TGF1-509C/T) and rs1982073 (TGF1+869T/C) showed no association with lung cancer (P>0.05). Conclusions TGF gene SNP may not be associated with susceptibility to lung cancer in Han Chinese in North China.

OBJECTIVE:To systematically review the efficacy and safety of Shenxian shengmai oral liquid in the treatment of slow arrhythmia, and provide evidence-based reference for clinical treatment. METHODS:Cochrane library,EMbase,PubMed, CJFD,CBM and VIP database were retrieved to collect the randomized controlled trails(RCT)of Shenxian shengmai oral liquid(tri-al group)vs.other Chinese medicines(control group)in the treatment of slow arrhythmia. After quality evaluation, the Meta-analysis was performed using Rev Man 5.14 software. RESULTS:A total of 13 RCTs were included, involving 1 023 patients. The results of Meta-analysis showed that the effective rate [RR=1.26,95%CI(1.18,1.35),P<0.001] and average heart rate [MD=5.80,95%CI (4.01,7.58),P<0.001] in test group were significantly higher than control group;there were no significant difference in the inci-dence of adverse reactions between test group and control group[OR=0.46,95%CI(0.17,1.22),P=0.12]. CONCLUSIONS:Shenx-ian shengmai oral liquid is effective with good safety in the treatment of slow arrhythmia. However, due to low quality of included studies,it remains to be further verified by high-quality and large-sample long-term RCT.

AIM: To explore the possible role of p21 wafl gene in the effect of 1,25-dihydroxyvitamin D 3 on a human osteosarcoma cell line (HOS-8603) proliferation and differentiation. METHODS: The effect of 1,25(OH) 2D 3 on the expression of p21 wafl mRNA was determined by quantitative reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction. The human osteosarcoma cell line stably expressing the p21 wafl mRNA, which named HOS-p21 wafl , was constructed by lipofectamine transfection, and the expression of p21 wafl protein was detected by Western blot. Then the growth curve of the HOS-p21 wafl cells and the expression of alkaline phosphatase (AKP) in the HOS-p21 wafl cells were investigated. RESULTS: The expression of endogenous p21 wafl mRNA in HOS-8603 cells was induced by 1,25(OH) 2D 3 in a time-dependent manner, reaching the maximum at 4 h, and remaining the inducible action for up to 24 h over basal levels. The HOS-p21 wafl cells grew much slower than the control cells, only reaching 50% of the control ones when cultured for up to 6 days. Histochemical analysis showed that the expression of alkaline phosphatase (AKP) in the HOS-p21 wafl cells increased remarkably.CONCLUSION: These results suggest that the p21 wafl mRNA expression induced by 1,25(OH) 2D 3 is one of important mechanisms responsible for the cellular effects of the hormone on HOS-8603 cells.

Chinese Journal of Pathophysiology 2000;0(10):-
AIM: To investigate the effect of glucocorticoid receptor beta(GR?) on the transcriptional activation function of glucocorticoid receptor alpha(GR?) and elucidate the biological significance of glucocorticoid receptor beta. METHODS: GR? (pRSH-GR?) and GR? responsive reporter gene cat (pMMTV-cat) were cotransfected into human osteosarcoma cell line (HOS-8603). Transient transfectants were treated with dexamethasone and the activity of cat was determined by the method of ELISA. The expression p21 messenger RNA was detected by the method of reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction. RESULTS: GR? repressed the expression of reporter gene-cat in a dose-dependent manner. The expression of messenger RNA of p21, an endogenous target gene of GR?, was also inhibited by GR?. CONCLUSION: GR? can inhibit the transcriptional activation function of GR?. GR? may be an endogenous inhibitor of GR?.
