1.Resting energy expenditure in patients with malignant tumors
Chinese Journal of Clinical Nutrition 2011;19(1):47-50
Energy metabolism varies in different periods during the lifetime or in different pathological states. Resting energy expenditure (REE) may increase in some patients with malignant tumors, but may also show no significant difference when compared with healthy people or patients with benign tumors. The alteration of REE may be related to tumor site, pathologic stage, methods of treatment, and/or laboratory tests. The efficacy of a certain therapy may also affect REE in patients with malignant tumors: when a therapy is effective, the value of REE can return normal; however, when the treatment fails, REE will not be improved or become even higher.Mechanism governing the abnormalities of REE in patients with malignant tumors may be associated with the abnormal nutrition metabolism and the regulations of relevant cytokines.
2.Relationship Between Chronic Tracheitis and Meteorological Condition and Forecasting Model Established
Journal of Environment and Health 1989;0(06):-
Objective To set up forecasting models of week and ten days for chronic tracheitis. Methods The data of chronic tracheitis incidence and same time meteorological factors in 1998-2000 in Yinchuan,China were collected and analyzed using SAS6.0 statistical software. Results The incidence of chronic tracheitis was closely related with air temperature, air pressure and the other meteorological factors which showed that chronic tracheitis was caused integrated meteorological factors.Based on the correlation analysis, forecasting models of week and ten days for chronic tracheitis using multi-regression method was established. Conclusion Chronic tracheitis may be caused by integrated meteorological factors and the incidence of chronic tracheitis has a positive correlation with air temperature and a negative correlation with air pressure.

Journal of International Oncology 2011;38(8):566-568
Mutations of BRCA1 and BRCA2 are closely related to developing of breast cancer andovarian cancer. There are a great diversity of founder mutations of BRCA1 and BRCA2. Their types and fre quency are greatly different in populations from different geographic regions and ethnicities. In particular ethnicgroups, founder mutations show a high frequency due to a founder effect. Compared with the expensive wholegenomic scan, screening of founder mutations which could provide information for the prevention and treatmentof related cancer is more convenient and easy to popularize with low cost.

Objective To study influence of psychological intervention on life quality of patients with non-erosive reflux disease(NERD) complicated with depression. Methods Patients with NERD and depression(95 cases) were divided randomly into the observation group(48 cases) and the control group(47 cases). The control group received oral administration of rabeprazole,10 mg,bid. The observation group was given psychological intervention based upon routine medication.Tbe reflux diagnostic questionnaire (RDQ), self-rating depression scale(SDS) and quality of life-index(QL-INDEX) scale were adopted for evaluation before and 8 weeks after treatment. Results The score of SDS was (41.58±6.85) in the observation group, which was lower than that of the control group,(50.42±9.26), after 8 weeks of treatment (P<0.01). The score of QL-INDEX was (8.56±1.38) in the observation group, which was higher than that of the con-trol group,(7.98±1.42), after 8 weeks of treatment (P<0.05). Conclusions Psychological intervention for patients with non-erosive reflux disease (NERD) complicated with depression can ameliorate their de-pression state and improve their life quality.

China Oncology 1998;0(04):-
Rho(Ras homologue) family play an import ant role in intracellular signal-transduction pathways. Not until recently have they been found to overexpress in many kinds of tumors such as testicular germ cell tumor, colorectal tumor, breast cancer, ductal adenocarcinoma of the pancreas and prostate cancer and been linked to the tumorigenesis and metastasis. So the members of the Rho family of small guanosine triphosphatases would be new marker s for tumor diagnosis、new markers for the prediction of metastatic potential an d new important prognostic factors. Moreover, they have the potential as therape utic targets for the prevention of cancer invasion and metastasis. In this artic le, we review the recent progress in this field.
