Objective To quantitatively assess the left ventricular systolic and diastolic function in the elderly patients with dilated cardiomyopathy (DCM) by using Doppler tissue imaging (DTI) and to explore its clinical value. Methods A total of 20 normal controls and 22 old patients with DCM were enrolled in the study. The left ventricular end-diastolic diameter (LVEDd), left atrial diameter (LAD) and left ventricle ejection fraction(LVEF) were obtained by routine echocardiogram. And the systolic and early diastolic peak velocity (Vs and Ve) were detected by quantitative tissue velocity imaging (QTVI) and the mean value was accounted. The systolic mitral valve displacements (MVD) in 6 sites were determined by tissue tracking technique and the mean value was calculated. Results The LVEDd and LAD were significantly higher in DCM group than in normal group [LVEDd: (67.56±10.27) mm vs. (43.36±4.20) mm; LAD: (49.91± 6.27) mm vs. (32.00+4.53) mm, t=10.229 and 10.359, both P<0.01]. And the LVEF, Vs and MVD were lower in DCM group than in normal group [LVEF: (26.50 ± 8.25)% vs. (64.00 + 4.72)%; Vs:(5.14+1.30) cm/s vs. (8.89+1.87) cm/s; MVD:4.82+1.85 vs. 10.23± 1.95, t=18.502, 7.716 and 8.143, all P< 0.01].The Vs and MVD were significantly positively correlated with LVEF (r=0.78 and 0.89, both P<0.01). Conclusions DTI can quantitatively assess global and regional left ventricular systolic and diastolic function of elderly patients with DCM, and provide the reliable information for the judgment of pathogenetic condition.

To identify adulterants from medicinal plants of Bletilla H. G. Reichenbach, the suitable candidate DNA barcoding of Bletilla was evaluated. In this study, the internal transcribed spacer (ITS) of nuclear ribosomal DNA, the LFY homologous gene intron 2 and chloroplast ycfl gene were amplified and sequenced from forty-one samples. The intra-specific and inter-specific divergences of Bletilla were calculated, and the identification efficiency was assessed using Barcoding Gap, NJ tree by K2P distance and BLAST1 method. The result showed the intra-specific divergence of nrDNA ITS and ycJfl (0.022-0.106 and 0.017-0.106) were obviously higher than the inter-specific divergence (0-0.012 and 0-0.015), and four species of Bletilla were also accurately distinguished in NJ trees. Whereas, there was no Barcoding Gap on LFY homologous gene intron 2, thus it cannot effectively identify species of Bletilla. Using NJ tree of nrDNA ITS and ycfl gene, powdery medicine and the adulterants of Bletilla were successfully unidentified. In conclusion, nrDNA ITS and ycfl can be used as a potential DNA barcoding to identify the medicinal plants in Bletilla and its adulterants. There were only three basic differences on nrDNA ITS between "Jujing baiji" and Bletilla striata of Lu'an in Anhui province, and two basic differences in ycfl. Based on morphological and molecular data, "Jujing baiji" could be recognized as the species of Bletilla striata.

Chinese Journal of Medical Genetics 2022;39(11):1252-1256
OBJECTIVE:
To analyze the clinical features and genetic basis for a Chinese pedigree affected with familial adenomatous polyposis (FAP).
METHODS:
Clinical information of the patient was collected. Genomic DNA was extracted from peripheral blood sample of the patient and subjected to whole exome sequencing (WES). Candidate variant was verified by Sanger sequencing.
RESULTS:
The proband, a 33-year-old female, was found to have multiple adenomatous polyps in the intestine. WES revealed that she has harbored a heterozygous variant of the APC gene, namely c.1922dupA (p.N641fs*10), which was unreported previously. Based on the guidelines of the American College of Medical Genetics and Genomics, the variant was predicted to be likely pathogenic.
CONCLUSION
The c.1922dupA (p.N641fs*10) variant of the APC gene probably underlay the FAP in this pedigree. Above finding has enabled genetic counseling for this family.

Oral diseases concern almost every individual and are a serious health risk to the popula-tion.The restorative treatment of tooth and jaw defects is an important means to achieve oral function and support the appearance of the contour.Based on the principle of"learning from the nature",Deng Xu-liang's group of Peking University School and Hospital of Stomatology has proposed a new concept of"microstructural biomimetic design and tissue adaptation of tooth/jaw materials"to address the worldwide problems of difficulty in treating dentine hypersensitivity, poor prognosis of restoration of tooth defects, and vertical bone augmentation of alveolar bone after tooth loss. The group has broken through the bottle-neck of multi-stage biomimetic technology from the design of microscopic features to the enhancement of macroscopic effects, and invented key technologies such as crystalline/amorphous multi-level assembly,ion-transportation blocking, and multi-physical properties of the micro-environment reconstruction, etc. The group also pioneered the cationic-hydrogel desensitizer, digital stump and core integrated restora-tions,and developed new crown and bridge restorative materials, gradient functionalisation guided tissue regeneration membrane, and electrically responsive alveolar bone augmentation restorative membranes, etc. These products have established new clinical strategies for tooth/jaw defect repair and achieved inno-vative results. In conclusion, the research results of our group have strongly supported the theoretical im-provement of stomatology, developed the technical system of oral hard tissue restoration, innovated the clinical treatment strategy, and led the progress of the stomatology industry.

Objective:
To analyse the mental state of patients with allergic rhinitis (AR) in Chengdu.
Methods:
One thousand five hundred and thirty-six AR patients from Sichuan Provincial Integrated Traditional Chinese and Western Medicine Hospital, West China Hospital of Sichuan University, Affiliated Hospital of Chengdu University of Traditional Chinese Medicine, Sichuan People′s Hospital, Sichuan Second Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine were selected from July 2013 to January 2018. Eight hundred and twenty-seven patients were screened into study group by inclusion and exclusion standards. The symptom check list 90 (SCL-90) was used to group and score the mental state of these patients according to nine classification criteria: gender, BMI, age, marital status, monthly salary, disease duration, living environment, education level and working environment. Then, the scores were compared within groups. Inter-group comparison was made between the study group and the Chinese norm, and the positive factors for psychological disorders were extracted. Four symptoms in the study group, i.e. nasal itching, sneezing, clear discharge and nasal congestion, were scored on the visual analogue scale (VAS). SPSS 19.0 software was used to carry out statistical analysis. Partial correlation analysis was performed between the positive factors and the symptom scores by multiple regression statistical method.
Results:
The total score of SCL-90 in the study group was 2.64±0.25, which was accorded with mild to moderate mental health impairment. There were 124 (15.0%) without mental health damage, 176 (21.3%) with mild damage, 474 (57.3%) with mild to moderate damage, 41 (5.0%) with moderate to severe damage and 12 (1.4%) with severe damage. The in-group comparison showed that the top three categories of different items were the living environment, gender and working environment. The scores of somatization, obsessive-compulsive symptoms, interpersonal sensitivity, depression, anxiety, psychosis, other (sleep, diet) and total average score of urban residents were higher than that of country residents (3.29±0.61
