The study of mechanical properties on heart valves can provide an important theoretical basis for doctors to repair heart valves and prosthetic valve materials research. In this paper, we present the current status of the mechanical property study methods of heart valve, expound the methods and special requirements about uniaxial tensile test and biaxial tensile test of the heart valve, and further discuss several establishment methods of heart valve constitutive models. We also discuss the development trend of heart valve mechanics.

Aim To investigate the effects of all-trans retinoic acid and benazepril on the expression of ?-smooth muscle actin in rats with glomerulosclerosis.Methods 80 Wistar male Rats were randomly assigned into the following groups: control group,model group,ATRA treatment group and benazepril treatment group,20 rats in each group.GS rats were uninephrectomized and injected with adriamycin(5mg?kg-1) after one week through the tail vein.All rats were sacrificed at the 12th week,GS was evaluated by glomerulosclerosis index(GSI) system.The expression of ?-SMA was assessed by reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction(RT-PCR) and immunohistochemistry.Results Comparing with control group,the expression of ?-SMA mRNA and protein were decreased significantly in ATRA treatment group and benazepril treatment group(P0.05).Conclusions The postponed effects of ATRA and benazepril on GS were evident and equivalent.

Hemodynamic situation is an important factor of recurrence of postoperative carotid artery aneurysm. In order to investigate the hemodynamic factors of postoperative carotid artery aneurysm affect carotid artery aneurysm recurrence, we established a 3D finite element carotid artery aneurysm for the preoperative and postoperative periods using the three-dimensional reconstruction techniques. And then we measured the hemodynamic factors of carotid artery aneurysm of preoperative and postoperative by the finite element method. The carotid artery aneurysm model has an accurate and realistic shape; the pressure of the recurrence of aneurysm was reduced significantly after surgery,wall shear stress increased significantly at residual neck, and blood flow velocity increased significantly, which will increase the risk of recurrence. The hemodynamic analysis provides a reference for development of aneurysm clinical treatment programs and prevention of recurrence.

Objective To analyze the laboratory testing data of 2009 pandemic influenza A (H1N1) vaccines during lot release procedure, thus to know the overall quality status of this vaccines.Methods National Institutes for Food and Drug Control(NIFDC) carried out the laboratory test according to the specifications of each manufacture, and the results was analyzed and compared between manufacturer and NIFDC. Results 99.8% of vaccines batches were released by NIFDC, haemagglutinin contents were between 90% to 103 % of labeled values, and testing results slightly differ between manufactures and NIFDC,other items related to safety were all meet specifications. Conclusion The quality of H1N1 vaccines in China were satisfying, the lot release and independent test by NIFDC play important roles to ensure the vaccines' quality.

OBJECTIVETo assess a minipig model of acute myocardial infarction (AMI) established by percutaneous balloon occlusion using delayed-enhanced magnetic resonance imaging (DE-MRI).

METHODSA minipig model of AMI was established by placement of a 2.0 mm×15.0 mm percutaneous transluminal coronary angioplasty balloon in the middle left anterior descending artery (LAD) through a percutaneous femoral puncture in the right inguinal region. The left anterior descending coronary artery (LAD) was occluded for 90 min, followed by assessment of the infarct size and cardiac function with DE-MRI, and the results were confirmed by pathological examination.

RESULTSDE-MRI showed a mean infarcts size of 10.2∓2.9 cm3 in the minipig models. Compared to the control group, the minipigs with AMI had significantly increased end-diastolic and end-systolic volumes (P<0.05) with a decreased stroke volume, ejection fraction and cardiac output (P<0.001). These DE-MRI values were matched with the microsphere values obtained from short-axis slices in pathological examination.

CONCLUSIONWe have established a feasible approach for evaluating minipig models of AMI as a platform for assessing the therapeutic effect of stem cell transplantation for AMI.

When partial nephrectomy is performed by posterior abdominal approach, the surgical field is poorly exposed, resulting in increased surgical difficulty and risk of injury.In this study, 28 patients with T 1a stage kidney tumors underwent retroperitoneal laparoscopic partial nephrectomy. Intraoperatively, exposure of the surgical field was achieved using the percutaneous puncture of the renal fascia suspension technique. There were no dissatisfactory exposures due to peritoneal damage during the surgery, no additional tubes were inserted, and no conversions to open surgery were needed. The operation time was (76.5±20.3) minutes, blood loss was (92.1±18.7) ml, renal artery clamping time was (19.5±4.3) minutes. Postoperatively, there were no complications such as bleeding, infection, or hematuria.

BACKGROUNDThe bacterial endotoxins test (BET) is a method used to detect or quantify endotoxins (lipo-polysaccharide, LPS) and is widely used in the quality control of parenteral medicines/vaccines and clinical dialysis fluid. It is also used in the diagnosis of endotoxemia and in detection of environment air quality control. Although BET has been adopted by most pharmacopoeias, result judgment algorithms (RJAs) of the test for interfering factors in the BET still differ between certain pharmacopoeias. We have evaluated RJAs of the test for interfering factors for the revision of BET described in the Chinese Pharmacopoeia 2010 (CHP2010).

METHODSOriginal data from 1 748 samples were judged by RJAs of the Chinese Pharmacopoeia 2010, the Japanese Pharmacopoeia 2011 (JP2011), the European Pharmacopoeia 7.0 (EP7.0), the United States Pharmacopoeia 36 (USP36), and the Indian Pharmacopoeia 2010 (IP2010), respectively. A SAS software package was used in the statistical analysis.

RESULTSThe results using CHP2010 and USP36, JP2011, EP7.0, and IP2010 had no significant difference (P = 0.7740). The results using CHP2010 of 1 748 samples showed that 132 samples (7.6%) required an additional step; nevertheless there was no such requirement when using the other pharmacopeias. The kappa value of two RJAs (CHP2010 and EP7.0) was 0.6900 (0.6297-0.7504) indicating that the CHP2010 and other pharmacopoeias have good consistency.

CONCLUSIONSThe results using CHP2010 and USP36, JP2011, EP7.0, and IP2010 have different characteristics. CHP2010 method shows a good performance in Specificity, mistake diagnostic rate, agreement rate, predictive value for suspicious rate, and predictive value for passed rate. The CHP2010 method only had disadvantages in sensitivity compared with other pharmacopeias. We suggest that the Chinese pharmacopoeia interference test be revised in accordance with the USP36, JP2011, EP7.0, and IP2010 judgment model.

ObjectiveA method was developed for the rapid determination of 18 common disinfection by-products including halogenated oxides and haloacetic acid （HAAs） in drinking water by high performance liquid chromatography tandem mass spectrometry （HPLC-MS/MS）. MethodThe water sample was filtered by 0.22 μm hydrophilic membrane then the analytes were separated on a PFP （2.1 mm× 100 mm， 2.7 μm） pentafluorophenyl column with 0.1% acetic acid and acetonitrile as mobile phase gradient elution. Ionization in anionic electrospray mode was detected by multi-reaction monitoring （MRM） mode. The external standard method was used for quantitation. ResultsThe correlation coefficients of 18 disinfection by-products were above 0.999 in the corresponding linear range. The average spiked recoveries of 1， 10 and20 times of LOQ of each analyte were 91.6%‒101.8%， and the relative standard deviation （RSD） was 1.2%‒6.4%. The LOD and LOQ were 0.020‒2 μg·L^-1 and 0.050‒5 μg·L^-1， respectively. ConclusionThis method is simple， sensitive and accurate， and could be used for the routine analysis of 18 common disinfection by-products in drinking water.
