This article was aimed to study the acute toxicities on intragastric administration of differentRadix Aconiti Lateralis Praeparataprocessed products to Beagle dogs. A total of 16 healthy and qualified Beagle dogs were randomly divided into the blank group,Pao-Fu-Pian(PFP) group,Pao-Tian-Xiong(PTX) group andHei-Shun-Pian(HSP) group according to the body weight. The intragastric administration of 4 g crude herb per kg was given. Before medication, 1 h, 24 h, and 3, 7, 14 days after medication, the body weight, food consumption, rectal temperature, electrocardiogram, blood routine and blood biochemistry were measured. The results showed that after medication, all dogs in three experimental groups were depressed. And there were significant differences in the electrolytes of blood. Among them, the HSP group was the most obvious one. The red blood cells, blood sugar and triglycerides of dogs in the PFP group had significant difference. The lymphocytes and blood sugar had significant difference of dogs in the PTX group. However, after the medication of HSP, the lymphocytes of the dogs were decreased significantly. It was concluded that the toxicity of three processed products followed the order of HSP > PFP > PTX.

Objective:To investigate the work-family conflict, work withdrawal behavior and psychological resilience of postpartum female nurses with the second-child, analyze the relationships between them, further analyze whether there is a mediating role of psychological resilience between work-family conflict and work withdrawal behavior. Methods:A total of 303 postpartum female nurses with the second-child were assessed with general information questionnaire, Work-Family Conflict Scale(WFC), Conner-Davidson Resilience Scale(CD-RISC) and Work Withdrawal Behavior Scale(WWBS).Results:The total score of WFC was 53.22±13.63, and the highest score in the factor of time while lowest in the factor of behavior with 18.92±5.00,16.92±6.07. The total score of WWBS was 18.79±4.26, and the score of dimension of psychological withdrawal and behavioral withdrawal was 13.99±3.53, 4.80±1.22. The total score of CD-RISC was 88.81±16.45. The total scores and scores of each dimension of WFC were positively correlated with those of WWBS( r values were 0.122-0.396, P<0.05 or 0.01). The total scores and scores of each dimension of CD-RISC were negatively correlated with those of WWBS and WFC( r values were -0.320--0.094, P<0.05 or 0.01). Structural equation modeling analysis showed that work-family conflict indirectly affected work withdrawal behavior through psychological resilience. Conclusions:Cultivating psychological resilience shows a positive effect on easing the work-family conflict and improving work withdrawal behavior for postpartum female nurses with the second-child.

OBJECTIVETo study the relationship between the TCM Syndrome Differentiation-types of congestive heart failure (CHF) and thyroid hormones, including triiodothyronine (T3), thyroxine (T4) and thyroid stimulating hormone (TSH), and atrial natriuretic peptide (ANP), as well as cardiac function parameters, including left ventricular ejection fraction (LVEF), mean velocity of circumferentid fiber shortening (mVcf) and A peak/E peak (A/E).
METHODSOne hundred patients with CHF were divided into 4 Syndrome Differentiation-type groups, their cardiac function parameters, ANP and thyroid hormones were determined and compared with those in the 23 subjects in the control group.
RESULTSIn CHF patients with edema and blood stasis Syndrome type, the level of plasma ANP was significantly higher than that in the control group (P < 0.05); level of T3 was significantly lower than that in the control group and in CHF patients of other three (Xin-qi deficiency, Yin-deficiency and blood stasis) Syndrome groups (P < 0.01, P < 0.01, P < 0.05 and P < 0.01); levels of LVEF and mVcf were significantly lower than those in the other three Syndrome groups (all P < 0.01). Level of T4 in other three Syndrome groups significantly increased than that in the edema and blood stasis Syndrome type. A/E value showed a higher level in patients of all TCM type than that in the control (P < 0.01). Correlation analysis showed that T3 was positively correlated with LVEF and T4 (r = 0.200, P < 0.05, and r = 0.293, P < 0.01), and negatively correlated with ANP (r = -0.263, P < 0.01); T4 was negatively correlated with A/E (r = -0.226, P < 0.05).
CONCLUSIONThe lowering of T3 and T4 and increasing of ANP may be one of the important reasons for lowering of LVEF in CHF patients with edema and blood stasis Syndrome-type. The decrease of T4 may be one of the important reasons for elevation of A/E and aggravation of left ventricular diastolic dysfunction in CHF patients of all the 4 TCM Syndrome-types.

Journal of Chinese Physician 2023;25(7):977-982
Objective:To explore the predictive value of exhaled nitric oxide (FeNO) for the risk of acute exacerbation in stable chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) patients over the next year and evaluate whether it can guide the use of inhaled corticosteroids (ICS).Methods:This study was a multicenter, retrospective and observational cohort study. The subjects of this study were stable COPD patients who were hospitalized in 12 hospitals in Hunan Province and Guangxi from January 2017 to December 2021. The patient′s basic Demography information, previous acute exacerbation history, pulmonary function, FeNO, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease assessment test questionnaire (CAT) score, modified British Medical Research Council dyspnea questionnaire (mMRC) score, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease control questionnaire (CCQ) score, and detailed treatment plan were collected. Based on FeNO 25 ppb, patients were divided into a high FeNO group and a normal FeNO group. All patients were followed up for 1 year and information on acute exacerbation was recorded. Results:A total of 825 patients were included, aged (63.5±9.1)years, with a median of 25 ppb of FeNO. A number of 825 patients were followed up for 1 year, of which 262(31.8%) experienced acute exacerbation. Multivariate logistic regression found that FeNO, CAT score, smoking cessation, and past history of acute exacerbation were independent factors predicting acute exacerbation in COPD patients in the next year (all P<0.05). High FeNO was a protective factor for acute exacerbation in COPD patients in the next year, with an OR value of 0.10 ( P<0.001). Further analysis found that the proportion of patients in the high FeNO group using ICS was significantly higher than that in the normal FeNO group [58.8%(247/420) vs 48.6%(197/405), P=0.003]. In the high FeNO group, using ICS can reduce the incidence of acute exacerbation of COPD in the next year [8.9%(22/247) vs 15.6%(27/173), P<0.05], while in the normal FeNO group, there was no statistically significant difference in the frequency of acute exacerbation between patients using ICS and those not using ICS ( P>0.05). Conclusions:FeNO is an independent factor predicting the acute exacerbation of COPD in the next year, and patients with high FeNO levels may consider using ICS in combination.
