1.Comparison of the range of motion of the femoral head at two different diameters during primary total hip arthroplasty
Chinese Journal of Tissue Engineering Research 2015;(22):3487-3490
BACKGROUND:Dislocation is a common short-term complication after total hip arthroplasty. Many factors can induce dislocation. Among controlable factors, the diameter of the femoral head may be one of factors affecting the incidence of dislocation. Generaly, large prosthesis meets the biomechanical feature of hip joint, and can increase the joint stability. OBJECTIVE:To observe the effects of different diameters of the femoral head on range of motion of the hip joint during primary total hip arthroplasty so as to provide evidence for selecting the prosthesis with an ideal diameter. METHODS: We colected data of 77 cases (87 hips), who underwent primary total hip arthroplasty with the femora head of 28 mm and 32 mm diameter in the Department of Orthopedics, Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region Wulanchabu Central Hospital from August 2009 to August 2012. Hip prosthesis was provided by ZIMMER Company. The hip motion interface was made from polyethylene on metal. The femoral head prosthesis was used as folows: 28 mm diameter in 51 hips, and 32 mm diameter in 36 hips. Posterior approach was utilized. Range of motion of hip internal rotation and external rotation to dislocation was measured at hip flexion 90° during the operation, and compared between different diameter groups. RESULTS AND CONCLUSION:The method of surgery was not changed during operation in al patients. No significant difference in the sum of degree at dislocation was detected between two different diameter groups (P > 0.05). No significant difference in the intraoperative range of motion during total hip arthroplasty was visible in patients with femoral neck fracture between the two different diameter groups (P > 0.05). No significant difference in the intraoperative range of motion during total hip arthroplasty was visible in patients with avascular necrosis of the femoral head between the two different diameter groups (P > 0.05). These data suggested that compared with the femoral head of 28 mm diameter, the femoral head of 32 mm diameter did not increase the range of motion during total hip arthroplasty. After operation, two kinds of femoral head did not affect the dislocation after total hip arthroplasty in 2-year folow-up.

Objective To study imageology anatomy concerned of sellar turica and explore its potential role on growth of pituitary adenomas. Methods According to classification of sinus sphenoidalis,103 normal imageology data of sellar turica region were analyzed, including 83 cases with entire saddle type sinus sphenoidalis and 20 cases anti-saddle type sinus sphenoidalis. Furthermore, the clinical data of 45 cases of pituitary adenomas with extension into sinus sphenoidalis were retrospectively studied. Results The relationship between sellar floor's shapes and sinus sphenoidals'types was that the larger the sinus sphenoidalis was, the deeper the floor was(98.8%). The relationship between sellar floor's shapes and the superior surface of hypophysis was that most of depressed sellar floors were companied with depressed superior surfaces of hypophysises(93.8%). The anteroposterior shapes of sellar turica in midsagittal can be divided into 4 types such as bag-type, kettle-type, tube-type, and sifter-type. 45 patients suffering from pituitary adenoms with extension into sinus sphenoidalis all had entire saddle type sinus sphenoidalis. Conclusions The imageology anatomy concerned of sellar turica could explain the phenomena of pituitary adenomas with extension toward sellar floor and sinus sphenoidalis. Referring to the literatures concerned, it indicated that the imageology anatomy was the key factor of affecting the growth of pituitary adenomas.

BACKGROUND: Osteosarcoma is the most common type of bone tumor and generally occurs between the age of 10 to 25; moreover, in clinical practice osteosarcoma is found to occur more often in minority nationalities in Xinjiang Autonomous Region. Do its incidence and prognosis vary between nationalities at gene levelOBJECTIVE: To observe the different expressions of p53, bcl-2 and proliferative cell nucleus antigen (PCNA) gene during the development of osteosarcoma between various Xinjiang nationalities.DESIGN: Non-randomized comparative experiment taking clinical pathological specimens as subjects.SETTING: Immunohistochemical Laboratory, the Pathological Center of Xinjiang Medical University.PARTICIPANTS: Totally 52 pieces of specimen were obtained from excised osteosarcoma tissues in the Pathological Department, the First Affiliated Hospital of Xinjiang Medical University, and the Pathological Department, the First Affiliated Hospital of Shihezi University, between January 1,1984 and December 31, 2001. The 52 cases of osteosarcoma included 29cases derived from male patients and 23 from female patients; among them there were 12 cases of Kazak minority, 17 cases of Uygur minority and 23cases of Han nationality. Other 32 specimens were obtained from 32 patients with tumor-like lesions (such as osteofibrous dysplasia or fibrous dysplasia), including 7 cases of Kazak minority, 11 cases of Uygur minority, and 14 cases of Han nationality. The informed consent was obtained from the patients.METHODS: This experiment was carried out at the Immunohistochemical Laboratory, the Pathological Center of Xinjiang Medical University. LSAB method was used to detect p53, bcl-2 and PCNA expression in the two groups. The first antibody was re placed by PBS as blank control, and the available positive expression was taken as positive control. P53 protein and PCNA were observed to express in cell nucleus, appearing obvious redbrown granules with positive expression, whereas Bcl-2 protein was expressed in cytoplasm.lationship between the expression of Bcl-2, p53 and PCNA in osteosarcoma.of different nationalities: The expression of p53, bcl-2 and PCNA in Kazak minority, Uygur minority and Han nationality was not remarkable p53, bcl-2 and PCNA in osteosarcoma and bone tumor-like lesions: The expression of P53, Bcl-2 protein and PCNA in osteosarcoma was remarkably higher than that in tumor-like lesions (42.31% vs. 3.13 %, 59.62%sion of bcl-2, p53 and PCNA in osteosarcoma: There was a close correlation between bcl-2 and p53, as well as between bcl-2 and PCNA in osteosarcoma tissues (X2 =5.818 2, 4.900 0, P<0.05).CONCLUSION: The results indicate that there was no statistical difference between various nationalities in the expression of p53, bcl-2 and PCNA, as well as osteosarcoma differentiation. Suggesting that these genes may share the common regulation during the development of osteosarcoma, which is less associated with their nationality-related hereditary background.
