Parkinson's disease is a commonly encountered central nervous retrograde affection in elder persons. According to the theories of traditional Chinese medicine, Parkinson's disease is characterized by deficiency in the Ben (root) and excess in the Biao (branch). The Ben (root) is insufficiency of liver and kidney and deficiency of qi and blood; and the Biao (branch) is wind, fire, phlegm and stasis. Good therapeutic effects have been obtained by treatment based on syndrome differentiation, treatment with specific prescriptions and acupuncture. The further study on literatures, standardized criterion of symptoms differentiation and therapeutic effect determination as well as the screening and further research on the effective prescriptions and herbs should be paid more attention, meanwhile, the integration of herbs and acupuncture will be conducive to raise the therapeutic effect.

SUMMARY Here we report a case of cervical spondylosis misdiagnosed as cerebral infarction .The pa-tient was a 55-year-old man with a one-day history of weakness in his right extremities .Brain magnetic resonance imaging ( MRI) showed no acute abnormality , cerevical MRI showed that cervical spondylisis , C4/5 , C5/6 disc herniation , spinal canal stenosis and compression of the spinal cord .Then the patient was transferred to the Department of Orthopaedics and underwent surgical treatment of cervical spondylo -sis.Followed-up for six months , the weakness of his right extremities returned to normal .

Objective To observe the clinical effects of anti-vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) agent for retinopathy of prematurity (ROP) in different zones.Methods Retrospective analysis was performed on 24 ROP patients (46 eyes) who received intravitreal injection of anti-VEGF agent in our hospital from April 2013 to April 2014,including 15 patients (28 eyes) with Zone Ⅰ ROP and 9 patients (18 eyes) with Zone Ⅱ ROP.All the patients receive intravitreal injection of anti-VEGF agent Ranibizumab.The patients were observed for postoperative progression of fundus conditions,and the recovery rate and progression rate following initial injection were compared statistically between two groups.Results There was no statistically significant difference between the two groups in gestational age at birth or birth weight (both P ＞0.05);And statistically significant difference was found between two groups in gestational age at surgical correction (P =0.001).Following initial injection,the recovery rates were 32.14％ and 66.67％,and the progression rates were 67.86％ and 33.34％ in Zone Ⅰ ROP group and Zone Ⅱ ROP group,respectively,there was statistically significant difference between the two groups in recovery rate (x2 =5.263,P =0.022).The progression rate in Zone Ⅰ ROP group was higher than that in Zone Ⅱ ROP group,there was statistically significant difference (x2 =-2.269,P =0.023).During follow-up,no complications of intravitreal injection as cataract,endophthalmitis or retinal tears was observed;Only 2 patients experienced corneal edema,and 4 patients experienced subconjunctival hemorrhage.Conclusion Intravitreal injection of anti-VEGF agent is effective for both Zone Ⅰ and Zone Ⅱ ROP.While for Zone Ⅰ ROP,the surgery success rate is low and the reoperation rate is high,such treatment can provide favorable time and conditions for reoperation.

[Objective] Examine the expression of Galectin-3 (Gal-3),B cell lymphoma-2 protein (Bcl-2) in epithelial ovarian cancer tissues with regard to clinicopathological and survival variables,testing whether they can serve as prognostic markers and provide evidence for further research.[Methods] 98 EOC tissues and 10 normal ovarian tissues were collected,as well as their clinical documents.The expression of Gal-3 and Bcl-2 was tested via immunohistochemical staining analysis.Then the correlation between these two proteins and the clinicopathological and survival variables of these patients were evaluated.[Results] Of the 98 EOC,Gal-3 and Bcl-2 were all cytoplasmic staining.Gal-3 was observed in a majority of the EOC tumor cell proper (75/98,76.5％) but not in normal ovarian tissues.Bcl-2 was observed in a majority of the EOC tumor cell proper (50/98,51.0％) but not in normal ovarian tissue.Spearman bivariate correlation test show that there was no correlation between the expression Gal-3 and Bcl-2 (P =0.867).Gal-3 expression in EOC was associated with histology and platinum sensitivity (P =0.043,P =0.038),while Bcl-2 was associated with FIGO stage (P =0.029).Cox univariate analysis revealed that Gal-3,Bcl-2 expression,platinum sensitivity,stage were associated with overall survival (P =0.008,P =0.021,P ＜ 0.001,P ＜ 0.001).Further multivariate analysis showed that only Gal-3 expression,platinum sensitivity,stage affected the survival of these patients (P =0.014,P =0.021,P ＜ 0.001).[Conclusions]The expression of Gal-3 and Bcl-2 in EOC was significantly higher than that in normal ovarian tissue,supposed that they may involve in the development and progression of EOC.Gal-3 expression was associated with histology,platinum sensitivity and survival,it may be an independent predictive factor for EOC prognosis.There was no correlation between the expression Gal-3 and Bcl-2 in EOC,the functional mechanism between these two protein need further research.

In this paper, the World Traditional Medicine Patent Database (WTMPD) was used to retrieve patents of the traditional medicines used in the treatment and prevention of influenza worldwide in the past 30 years. A total of 2 423 patents were further screened by a series of processes. Finally, multi-angle analysis was carried on the dataset to form a patent analysis report on traditional anti-flu drugs. From the analysis, we found that China had a rapid increase in the number of patent applications, which was in the leading role in the world, though the number of PCT applicant from China is relatively low. A large amount of applicants from the USA, Japan, and Korea have entered into China. Pharmaceutical company is the core group of patent applicant, who had applied a lot of quality patent about their products to protect their commercial interests. Honeysuckle, licorice, isatis root, forsythia and skullcap are five kinds of herbs, which have been most frequently used in anti-influenza patents.

Synthetic biology of traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) is a new and developing subject based on the research of secondary metabolite biosynthesis for nature products. The early development of synthetic biology focused on the screening and modification of parts or devices, and establishment of standardized device libraries. Panax notoginseng (Burk.) F.H.Chen is one of the most famous medicinal plants in Panax species. Triterpene saponins have important pharmacological activities in P. notoginseng. Squalene epoxidase (SE) has been considered as a key rate-limiting enzyme in biosynthetic pathways of triterpene saponins and phytosterols. SE acts as one of necessary devices for biosynthesis of triterpene saponins and phytosterols in vitro via synthetic biology approach. Here we cloned two genes encoding squalene epoxidase (PnSE1 and PnSE2) and analyzed the predict amino acid sequences by bioinformatic analysis. Further, we detected the gene expression profiling in different organs and the expression level of SEs in leaves elicited by methyl jasmonate (MeJA) treatment in 4-year-old P notoginseng using real-time quantitative PCR (real-time PCR). The study will provide a foundation for discovery and modification of devices in previous research by TCM synthetic biology. PnSE1 and PnSE2 encoded predicted proteins of 537 and 545 amino acids, respectively. Two amino acid sequences predicted from PnSEs shared strong similarity (79%), but were highly divergent in N-terminal regions (the first 70 amino acids). The genes expression profiling detected by real-time PCR, PnSE1 mRNA abundantly accumulated in all organs, especially in flower. PnSE2 was only weakly expressed and preferentially in flower. MeJA treatment enhanced the accumulation of PnSEI mRNA expression level in leaves, while there is no obvious enhancement of PnSE2 in same condition. Results indicated that the gene expressions of PnSE1 and PnSE2 were differently transcribed in four organs, and two PnSEs differently responded to MeJA stimuli. It was strongly suggested that PnSEs play different roles in secondary metabolite biosynthesis in P. notoginseng. PnSE1 might be involved in triterpenoid biosynthesis and PnSE2 might be involved in phytosterol biosynthesis.

Background and purpose: Phosphatase and tensin homologue deleted on chromosome 10 (PTEN) gene is a kind of tumor suppressors, which has been reported to be underexpressed in endometrial carcinoma (EC) tissues by several reports. However, the biological effects and possible mechanisms of PTEN on EC have been known less. In this study, we tried to investigate the effects and possible mechanisms of PTEN on the invasion and migration of endometrial carcinoma cells and to provide a potential target for endometrial carcinoma therapy. Methods:The recombinant plasmid pIRES2-ZsGreen1-PTEN was rebuilt by gene recombination technology;The plasmid was transferred into HEC-1B cells and the cells transfected with pIRES2-ZsGreen1 plasmid were used as control;The expression of PTEN was observed by fluorescence microscope and Western blot assay;Cell migration and invasion was determined by the wound healing assay, transwell migration and invasion assays respectively;The Western blot analysis was performed to detect the expression of ATP-dependent tyrosine kinase (AKT), phosphorylated-AKT (p-AKT) and matrix metalloproteinase-2 (MMP-2). Results:The agarose gel electrophoresis showed a stripe of 1.2 kb which was same to PTEN cDNA;The sequence analysis showed the PCR products owned the same sequence with the coding region of PTEN cDNA in GenBank, suggesting the recombinant plasmid was constructed successfully;The green light of cells observed by fluorescence microscope and the Western blot analysis showed the expression of PTEN was upregulated in the cells transfected with the recombinant plasmid, suggesting the plasmid expressed successfully in HEC-1B cells;The wound healing assay as well as transwell migration assay showed ectopic expression of PTEN suppressed cell migration;The invasive capacity of HEC-1B cells was significantly decreased upon transfection with PTEN plasmid compared to control and untreated groups;Moreover, compared with the control groups, the expression of p-AKT and MMP-2 was downregulated, while there was no significant alteration of the expression of AKT. Conclusion:PTEN could suppress cell migratory and invasive ability of endometrial carcinoma cells by suppressing the phosphorylation of AKT followed by the decrease of MMP-2.

Objective To carry out health education nursing intervention mode for patients with hemodialy-sis,and to study and analyze the clinical nursing effect.Methods 112 cases of hemodialysis patients were randomlydivided into the observation group and the control group according to random number table,56 cases in each group. The patients of the control group were given conventional nursing model,and the patients of the observation group were given nursing intervention model on the basis of health education.The blood pressure,the internal fistula blockage, indwelling catheter caused by the incidence of infection and blood phosphorus level of compliance rate were compared in the two groups.Results After nursing intervention,diastolic blood pressure(76.17 ±7.02)mmHg and systolic blood pressure (131.17 ±8.77)mmHg of the observation group were significantly better than the control group [(90.91 ±8.44)mmHg,(141.29 ±7.08)mmHg],there were statistically significant differences(t =10.49,13.75, all P <0.05).The incidence rate of fistula obstruction (1.79%)and the catheter infection incidence rate(1.79%) of the observation group were significantly lower than the control group (28.57%,26.79%),there were statistically significant differences(χ2 =8.22,9.17,all P <0.05).The blood phosphorus level standard rate(60.71%)of the observation group was significantly higher than the control group(33.93%),there was statistically significant differ-ence (χ2 =11.45,P <0.05).Conclusion The incidence of complications is significantly decreased after nursing intervention of health education in patients with hemodialysis,and the indexes are improved significantly,and there is no obvious conflict of interest.

Objective To detect changes of regional grey matter and white matter volume in patients of neuromyelitis optica (NMO) by voxel-based morphometry (VBM),and investigate its relationship with clinical variables.Methods Conventional magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and structural threedimensional MRI were obtained from 20 NMO and 20 sex-and age-matched healthy volunteers.The comparison of grey matter and white matter volume between the two groups was analyzed by VBM tools of statistical parametric mapping (SPM) 5.Pearson correlational analysis was used to assess correlations between regional volume decrease and disease duration and expanded disability status scale (EDSS) scores in NMO patients.Results Compared with normal controls,NMO patients had grey matter atrophy in several cortical regions,such as right inferior frontal gyrus (cluster size 514),left superior temporal gyrus (282),right middle temporal gyvus (229) and right insula (211) (t =3.58-5.11,AlphaSim corrected,P ＜0.05).White matter atrophy was found in several subcortical regions in NMO patients,such as right precentral and postcentral gyrus (cluster size 457,110),left middle frontal gyrus (285),and right inferior parietal lobule (231) (t =2.90-4.25,AlphaSim corrected,P ＜ 0.05).Grey matter and white matter volume loss were not significantly correlated with clinical duration or EDSS score in NMO.Conclusion By means of VBM,regional atrophy of grey matter and white matter is found in NMO patients,which may provide evidence for brain structural abnormality in NMO.

Objective: To explore the level of the subjective memory complaints and its influencing factors among the elderly people in the community. Methods: The Memory Satisfaction of the Muti-factorial Memory Questionnaire was to evaluate the subjective memory complaints of the community elders, the objective memory function and general cognitive function were evaluated by the Auditory Verbal Learning Test (AVLT) and Mini-mental State Examination (MMSE) respectively, the depression was evaluate by the Geriatric Depression Scale (GDS-1), and the general population was collected by the general information questionnaire. Results: The incidence of subjective memory complaints in the community was 76%, multiple regression analysis showed that GDS score (β=-0.522, P<0.001) , gender (β=0.137,P<0.05) and AVLT delayed recall score (β=0.136,P<0.05) were the main complaints of subjective memory in the elderly influencing factors. Conclusion Depression and objective memory are the main influencing factors of elderly subjective memory complaints, suggesting that when developing a primary preventive strategy, consideration should be given to cognitive screening of elderly people who with subjective memory complains and inclusion of prevention and management as a risk population for dementia, with a focus on providing health services and family visits.
