Objective:To investigate the moderating role of emotional expressivity in the relationship between test anxiety and working memory capacity (WMC).Methods:Totally 332 college students were selected. The Test Anxiety Inventory (TAI),Emotional Expressivity Inventory (EEI) and Arithmetic Operation-Word Memory Span Task (OSPAN) were used to measure the severity of test anxiety, working memory capacity, and degree of emotional expressivity, respectively. Results:TAI scores were negatively correlated with WMC scores (r =-0.36,P <0.01).Emotional expressivity had a moderating effect between scores of test anxiety and WMC (β =0.19,P <0.01).Test anxiety score negatively predicted WMC score in students with low emotional expressivity (β =-0.74,P < 0.01),whereas it couldn't predict WMC in those with high emotional expressivity (β =-0.07,P >0.05).Conclusion:It suggests that higher emotional expressivity could buffer the negative effect of test anxiety on working memory capacity.

Objective The aims of this study were to compare the clinical and laboratory responses to ursodeoxycholic acid (UDCA) monotherapy with the combination therapy of UDCA plus prednisolone/azathioprine in primary biliary cirrhosis(PBC),and to investigate the risk factors affecting the therapeutic responses. Methods Eighty-two patients with untreated PBC were divided randomly into three groups.Group U (28 patients) received UDCA alone, group UP(27 patients) received UDCA and pr ednisolone, while group UA (27 patients ) received UDCA and azathioprine. The clinical and laboratory data were recorded after treated for 3,6 and 12 months.Repeated measures ANOVA and COX regression model were used for statistical analysis. Results Fatigue and pruritus were improved only in group UP(P=0.015 and P=0.037 respectively).Alanine aminotransferase(ALT),aspartate aminotransferase(AST),alkaline phosphatase(ALP),gamma-glutamyl transferase (GGT),total bilirubin (TBIL),direct bilirubin (DBIL) and IgM in the 3 groups were decreased (P<0.05),while there was no statistical significant difference between the three groups (P>0.05).The patients with disease progression had higher Mayo risk score (MRS) (P=0.018) and prolonged prothrombin time (PT)(P=0.042).In group UP,side-effect associated with glucocorticosteroids occurred in eight patients while there was no side-effect in group U.High baseline levels of ALP、GGT and CHO were risk factors for biochemical remission(P=0.015).The increase of DBIL,TBIL,total bile acid(TBA) and PT did not contribute to the prediction of biochemical remission ( P=0.075 ).Conclusion There are no differences among the three groups in the improvement of hepatic biochemical data and IgM.The combination therapy of UDCA with prednisolone could relieve fatigue and itching. The disease of patients with higher Mayo risk score and prolonged PT tend to progress.High baseline levels of ALP,GGT and CHO are risk factors for biochemical remission.High baseline levels of TBIL,DBIL,TBA and PT could not predict biochemical remission. The incidence of adverse effect is lowest when treated with UDCA alone.

AIM: The aim of this study was to observe the cardiac performance in 2-week or 4-week levothyroxine(T4)-induced cardiac hypertrophy and to elucidate the possible underlying mechanism of cardiac hypertrophy transition to heart failure in T4 treatment rats.METHODS: The blood pressure and pulse rate were measured by tail-cuff technique. The cardiac output and the preload-cardiac output were measured in working heart mode. The shortening of unloading contraction in cardiomyocytes was observed by an edge-detector system.RESULTS: Resting heart rate in T4 treatment rats increased significantly and the width of cardiomyocytes widened in T4 rats, but the length of cardiomyocytes had no difference compared with control values. The cardiac output in 2-week T4 group was higher than that in control group. The cardiac output increased when the preload increased from 5 mmHg to 15 mmHg.The unloading shortening amplitude at 1 Hz and 2 Hz increased in 2-week T4 group. No difference between 2-week T4 group and control group at 4 Hz was observed. When the stimulating frequency increased from 1 Hz to 4 Hz,the shortening amplitude also increased in control cardiomyocytes, but decreased in 2-week or 4-week T4 group. The shortening amplitude increased further in 4-week T4 group as compared with that in control. The time to peak shortening and time from peak shortening to 75% relaxation reduced at each frequency in 2-week and 4-week T4 group. The shortening and relaxation rates in 2-week or 4-week T4 group were higher than those in control group at 1 Hz and 2 Hz.The shortening and relaxation rate kept higher at 4 Hz in 2-week T4 group, but showed no difference with control at 4 Hz in 4-week T4 group.CONCLUSION: These above results suggest that shortening amplitude-frequency relationship of cardiomyocytes in 4-week T4 rats is earlier to be altered than cardiac performance in working heart.

Objective To determine the level of peripheral CD4+CD25+ regulatory T lymphocytes in patients with vitiligo at different stages and to study its relationship with the development of vitiligo. Methods Blood samples were collected from 34 outpatients with vitiligo, including 19 cases of progressive vitiligo and 15 cases of stable vitiligo, as well as from 20 normal human controls. Flow cytometry was used to detect the levels of peripheral CD4+ and CD4+CD25+ T lymphocytes in these samples. Results Compared with the controls, the percentage of CD4+CD25+ regulatory T lymphoeytes in peripheral lymphocytes was significantly lower in patients with progressive vitiligo than those in patients with stable vitiligo and normal human con-trois [(2.43±0.30)% vs (3.49±0.39)% and (3.34±0.24)%, both P <0.05], but no significant difference was found between patients with stable vitiligo and normal human controls (P>0.05). A significantly nega-tive correlation was observed between the percentage of CD4+CD25+ regulatory T lymphocytes and lesion area in patients with progressive vitiligo (r = -0.48, P <0.05), but not in patients with stable vitiligo (P >0.05). There was no significant correlation between the course of disease and the percentage of peripheral CD4+CD25+ regulatory T lymphocytes in patients with progressive vitiligo or stable vitiligo (both P > 0.05). Conclusion There is an abnormal proportion of peripheral CD4+CD25+ regulatory T lymphocytes in patients with vitiligo, which may be related to the development of vitiligo.
