2.English translation of culture-specific lexicon commonly seen in Huangdi Neijing.
Chinese Journal of Integrated Traditional and Western Medicine 2008;28(10):941-944
HuangDi NeiJing, the Yellow Emperor's Classic of Internal Medicine, a foundational classic of Chinese medical theory, is ranked as the first among the four most important classics of traditional Chinese medicine. Translation of culture-specific Lexicon is a pivot, also a nodus in translating Huangdi Neijing, so, chewing over it is of important meaning for English translation of the Chinese classic or even for that of whole Chinese medicine. In expectation of somewhat contribution to the development of the Chinese medical English discipline, the classification and translation strategy for culture-specific lexicon were discussed by the authors in this paper through an empirical study on comparing the different terms translated in two versions of Huangdi Neijing translation.

Procedure for prolapse and hemorrhoids( PPH) is one of the important techniques developed for the treatment of hemorrhoids with severe degree in the last decade. Its principle is based on the "anal cushion" theory.Compared with traditional hemorrhoidectomy , PPH has advantages of shorter operation time , minor degree of postoperative pain , shorter hospital stay and quicker recovery. However, the occurrence of relapse and re-prolapse of hemorrhoids is high. Besides, the short-term efficacy of PPH for the constipation outlet obstruction caused by anterior rectocele is also favorable.

OBJECTIVETo clarity the original plants and the main application varieties of White Flos Gentianae.
METHODHerbal textual research, wild specimen collection, investigation and collection of the samples from Tibetan hospital, Tibetan pharmaceutical factory and medical material market were carried out simultaneously to identify the original plants of White Flos Gentianae.
RESULTThe results of varieties textual research and specimen identification showed that Gentiana szechenyii, G. purdomii and G. algida were in accord with the record of Tibetan herbal textual The three species above were the original plants of White Flos Gentianae. The identification of 20 batches samples showed that G. szechenyii was the main application variety. The other varieties were only used in Tibetan hospitals. All the samples above were flowering branches.
CONCLUSIONIt was necessary to strengthen the research on variety systematization of White Flos Gentianae make a further discussion on the taxonomy position of G. purdomii, G. algida and the white flos population. Its was also nessary to establish and improve the quality standard of different variety based on the principle of "one species, one name". The quality specification of White Flos Gentianae should be established and improved to standard clinical utilization and produce feeding. More study of resources investigation and cultivation of G. szechenyii should be carried on to meet the demand of produce and clinic.

Chinese Journal of Integrated Traditional and Western Medicine 2006;26(7):655-658
At present, the English translation of TCM terms of pulse picture are various, which would bring confusion to the study and research on TCM diagnostics. In this paper, four principles for the translation are suggested by the authors: to distinguish the nomenclature of term with its connotative explanation, to translate with commonly used words in general, to create new word with common affix and to differentiate the terms similar in meaning. The authors tried to make choice the best translation for each kind pulse picture, and explained the reasons for selection.

8.Usage of titanoreine after procedure for prolapse and hemorrhoids.
Chinese Journal of Gastrointestinal Surgery 2005;8(4):319-321
OBJECTIVETo evaluate the effect of titanoreine on early postoperative symptoms after procedure for prolapse and hemorrhoids (PPH).
METHODSFrom November 2002 to July 2003, 80 patients who received PPH were randomly divided in to titanoreine group (n=42) and control group without titanoreine (n=38). Symptom relief was recorded 24 hours, 6 days and 12 days after PPH, urine retention 24h after PPH, first stool time, wound healing time, mean hospital stay were also recorded.
RESULTSThe score of symptom was lower in titanoreine group (4.4) than that in the control group (6.1) 24 hours after PPH (P< 0.05), but no significant difference in symptom grade was found between the two groups 6 days and 12 days after PPH (P> 0.05). Decrements of symptom grade were lower in titanoreine group than those of control group at any point after PPH (P< 0.05). There was no significant difference in urine retention rate and mean hospital stay between two groups(P> 0.05).
CONCLUSIONSTitanoreine can effectively relieve the early postoperative symptoms after PPH.

BACKGROUND:Previous research indicated that iron-fluorouracil-phenanthroline complex has good antitumor activity in vitro, which can inhibit the proliferation of human cancer cels. OBJECTIVE:To detect the antitumor activity and toxicity of iron-fluouracil-phenanthroline complex, [Fe(5-Fu)2(Phen)SO4],in vivo. METHODS:A total of 40 Kunming mice were randomly divided into four groups, which were intraperitoneally injected with 72, 102.9, 147, 210 mg/kg [Fe(5-Fu)2(Phen)SO4] and the half lethal dose of the complex was detected. One day after the establishment of mouse S180 sarcoma models, the model mice were randomly divided into eight groups, and administered with the intraperitoneal injection of 15 mg/kg (low dose group), 30 mg/kg (middle dose group), 60 mg/kg (high dose group) [Fe(5-Fu)2(Phen)SO4], normal saline (negative control group), cisplatin (positive control group), 5-fluorouracil, iron-salt and phenanthroline, respectively. The injection was done once a day, lasting for 7 days. The weight of sarcomas, body weight, the main organ coefficient and histopathological changes of the main organs were detected. RESULTS AND CONCLUSION: The half lethal dose of [Fe(5-Fu)2(Phen)SO4] was 103.9 mg/kg. Compared with the negative control group, high dose group, positive control group and 5-fluorouracil could significantly inhibit the growth of the tumor (P< 0.05 orP< 0.01), and the effect of high dose group was the most obvious (P < 0.01). Compared with cisplatin, 60mg/kg [Fe(5-Fu)2(Phen)SO4] had a weaker inhibitory effect on the kidney, but higher inhibitory effect on the liver, spleen and thymus, indicating the complex has a lower nephrotoxicity, but stronger immunotoxicity and hepatotoxicity than cisplatin.

BACKGROUND:Anticancer drug and organic metal complexes wil form a new structure or a change in ion concentration, thus changing both the activity and toxicity to produce a synergistic effect. OBJECTIVE:To synthesize new high-efficient and low-toxic metal-fluorouracil complexes as anticancer drugs. METHODS:Copper, zinc and iron salts and fluorouracil were used to synthesize four copper, zinc and iron-fluorouracil complexes that were [Cu(5-Fu)2Cl2], [Cu(5-Fu)2(NO3)2], [Fe(5-Fu)3]SO4 and [Zn(5-Fu)2Cl2]. Preliminary chemical structures of the four complexes were confirmed by elemental analysis and mass spectrometry. Their inhibitory activity on human cancer cells, human leukemia cellline K562 and human colon cancer cellline HCT-116, was measured by MTT colorimetric assay. RESULTS AND CONCLUSION:[Cu(5-Fu)2Cl2], [Cu(5-Fu)2(NO3)2], [Zn(5-Fu)2Cl2] and [Fe(5-Fu)3SO4] were successful y synthesized. These four complexes at a mass concentration of 0.1-100 mg/L inhibited the proliferation of K562 and HCT-116 to different extents. The IC 50 values of these four complexes on K562 and HCT-116 cells were lower than those of fluorouracil, and their cytotoxicity was 1.5-7.8 times higher than that of fluorouracil. To conclude, copper/iron/zinc-fluorouracil complexes exhibit synergic inhibitory effects on cancer cellproliferation.
