Chinese Journal of Rehabilitation Theory and Practice 2006;12(12):1093-1094
Objective To observe the effect of motor relearning program (MRP) on balance function of stroke patients. Methods Sixty stroke patients were randomly divided into the MRP group and control group with 30 cases in each group. The patients of the control group were trained with proprioceptive neuromuscular facilitation (PNF) therapy; those of the MRP group were trained with the MRP therapy. The balance function of all patients was assessed with the Fugl-Meyer Balance Function Assessment before and after training. Results After training, the scores of Fugl-Meyer Assessment of all patients increased ( P<0.05), but scores of the patients of the MRP group were significantly higher than that of the control group ( P<0.05).Conclusion The MRP training can improve the recovery of balance function of stroke patients.

Objective To detect the micro satellite instability (MSI) from the precancerous and cancerous lesions (GC) and its effect on carcinogenesis. Methods Silver staining single strand conformation polymorphism polymerize chain reaction (PCR SSCP) was used to screen MSI markers at 5 loci in formalin fixed, paraffin embedded tissues of GC (n=30), dysplasia (n=30), intestinal metaplasia (IM) ( n =40) and corresponding normal gastric tissues. Results The abnormal shifting of the single strand DNA was identified in 7(23 3%)out of GC, in 9 (30%) out of dysplasia and in 8(20%) out of IM samples respectively. GC with MSI was associated with distal location of the tumors ( P =0 044). MSI was not detected in low grade IM tissues. Conclusion MSI may be of an early event during gastric carcinogenesis. It contributes probably to the acquisition of a transformed cell phenotype and to the development of gastric cancer.

Objective To explore the clinical effects of laparoscopic surgery combined with marvelon, gestrinone and leuprolide in treatment of chronic endometriosis. Methods 50 cases of endometriosis were collected. They were randomly divided into observation group and control group, each group having 25 cases. The control group underwent laparoscopic surgery and the observation group underwent laparoscopic surgery combined marvelon, gestrinone and leuprolide for 3 months. The two groups were compared in clinical effects, recurrence and pregnancy rate,as well as the operation situation. Results The effective rate was 92.0% (23/25) in the observation group and 64.0% (16/25) in the control group. The effective rate of observation group was obviously higher than that of the control group(P < 0.05).The recurrence rate was 8.0% (2/25)in the observation group, and 32.0% (8/25) in the control group. The recurrence rate of combination group was obviously lower than that of the simple surgical group(P < 0.05).The pregnancy rate was 80.0% in the observation group;and 48.0% in the control group after treatment. The pregnancy rate of the observation group was obviously higher than that of the control group(P < 0.05).Liver damage or other adverse reactions didn't occur to any group after the treatment. The mean time of leaving bed was (1.4 ± 0.4) d after operation in the observation group vs (3.6 ± 1.5) d after operation in the control group.Length of hospital stay was (7.6 ± 3.5) d in the observation group vs (11.5 ± 3.9) d in the control group. The difference had statistical significance(all P < 0.05).Conclusions Laparoscopic surgery combined with marvelon, gestrinone and leuprolide is superior to pure surgery group in treatment of endometriosis. It can improve the effective and pregnancy rate, and reduce the recurrence rate.No obvious adverse reactions can be found, thus it is worth of clinical promotion.

OBJECTIVE: To study the dissolution amounts of aciclovir (ACV) from differently based preparations and provide the evidence for the development of new preparation of ACV. METHOD: The dissolution tester was applied for the quantitative determination of ACV released from 3 based formulations and 5 concentrations samples. The release amount per unit area (M) and the accumulative release percentage (Q) were compared respectively. RESULTS: The value for M was raised with the increase of the concentration of aciclovir in preparations, and for Q was reduced. The release rates of the aciclovir gel were at least two times faster than the creams and the ointment. CONCLUSION: The drug dissolution from ACV gel was better than the creams and the ointment. 10 gkg-1 ACV in prearation was the suitable concentration.

Objective To study on preparation and encapsulation of Curcumin liposomes. Method Liposome was prepared by five kinds of methods, determining the encapsulation efficiency by Visible Spectrophotomery on 424 nm. Result The envelopment ratio of Curcumin liposome made by the method of ethanol injection was 73.5%. Conclusion The preparation process of ethanol injection is simple and apt to control. The new form of prepared drug can improve bioavailability of Curcumin.

Journal of Medical Postgraduates 2003;0(06):-
Protein kinase C(PKC) is the main signaling molecule of the diacylglycerol dependent protein kinase C signal transducting system.PKC plays an important role in the generation and progress of cancer. The activation of PKC is associated with the proliferation, differentiation, apoptosis, migration and multidrug resistance(MDR) of tumor cells. It may become a novel anti-tumor strategy to block the proliferation and drug resistance signal transduction passageways with new specific PKC inhibitors directed at the PKC subgroup in tumor cells.

Objective To investigate the effect of exogenous GAs on learning and memory capability of hypoxic-ischemic(HI) brain damage rats. Methods After ligation of the right carotid artery of 7-day old male SD rats and waiting for 4 hours of recovery, the rats were exposed to 8% oxygen-92% nitrogen gas mixture for 2 hours. The HI animals were randomly divided into 3 groups. GAs-treated group 1: animals were injected i.p. GAs immediately after HI every 12 hours for 4 doses with 50 mg/kg, followed by a 2 weeks consecutive daily injections at dose of 30 mg/kg/day. GAs treated group 2: rats received GAs 50 mg/kg immediately after HI every 12 hours for 4 doses, followed by injection of saline in the same volums for 2 weeks. Control group: rats received saline in the equivalent volums and duration. The behavioral test starded when the animals were 24 days old. Discriminative learning ability and memory retention were tested in the tri-equal-arms maze . The locomotor activity and alternative behavior was observed. The degree of neuronal damage were assessed after behavioral test. Results (1)The number of trails to reach the learning criteria were (39?17), (32?14)and (20?13) for control group, GAs-treated group 2 and GAs-treated group 1, respectively. The percentages of memory retention for control group, GAs-treated group 2 and GAs-treated group 1 were (62?10)%, (64?11)% and (70?9)%, respectively. Two weeks consecutive daily injection of GAs had facilitatory effects on learning ability and memory retention of HI rats(P0.05). Conclusion Gangliosides can enhance the learning ability and memory retention in neonate rats with HI.

Objective To study the hemorheology,platelet-activating and hemostasis of severe asphyxiated newborns. Methods Erythrocyte filtration index(IF) ,granule membrane glycoprotein (GMP-140),D-dimer(DD) and yon Willebrand factor(vWF) were measured in 60 severe asphyxiated term newborns and 20 healthy term newborns. The effect of platelet-activating-factor (PAF) antagonist-EGb761 were also obserred. 60 term newborns with severe asphyxia were divided into two groups :treatment group(n= 30) and control group(n = 30). Results During the first day of life the IF,GMP-140,vWF and DD of the severe asphyxiated newborns increased significantly compared with those of healthy newborns(P0.05). Conclusion 1. Severe asphyx iated newborns vary in hemorheology,platelet-activating and hemostasis, which leads to disturbance of microcirculation and organ injury. 2. PAF plays a role in the pathophysiologic process, and PAF antagonist can improve the microcirculation of severe asphyxiated newborns.
