1.Lipoprotein lipase gene polymorphisms and atherosclerosis
International Journal of Cerebrovascular Diseases 2017;25(2):188-192
Lipoprotein lipase (LPL) is the rate-limiting enzyme for the hydrolysis of the triglyceride core of circulating triglyceride-rich lipoproteins.LPL can not only affect the lipoprotein level, but also play an important role in the development of atherosclerosis.LPL gene polymorphisms may affect LPL activity, and therefore have both pro-and anti-atherogenic effects. This article reviews the relationship between LPL gene polymorphism and atherosclerosis.

Objective To analyze the causes and outcome of conversion from tacrolimus (FK506) to cyclosporine-A (CsA) in recipients after liver transplantation. Methods 317 consecutive liver transplantation recipients in our department received anti-CD25 monoclonal antibody,FK506, mycophenolate mofetil and corticoid for prophylaxis of cellular rejection. The blood FK506 trough level was (10-15)?g/L within the first 30 days,(8-12)?g/L within next 60 days, and (5-8)?g/L was kept during 90 to 180 days after transplantation. All recipients reveived a follow-up of 6 months. Remits Sixteen out of 317 recipients (5.05%) required conversion from FK506 to CsA.The clinical indications for conversion included:neurological adverse effect of FK506 in 5 cases (31.25%),hema- tological adverse effect in 2 cases (12.5%),gastrointestinal effect in one case (6.25%),not capable of reaching therapeutic window concentration in 3 cases (18.75%),refractory hyperglycemia in 2 ca- ses (12.5%),and economic factor in 3 cases (18.75%).The majority of recipients demonstrated clinical improvement after the switch, except 2 of 16 patients (12.5%) had to be reconverted to FK506 due to renal disadvantage. No dead recipient and adverse effect correlated to immunosuppres- sive agent conversion were seen. Conclusion If necessary, conversion from FK506 to CsA in patients undergoing liver transplantation is safe and effective.

Chinese Journal of Pathology 2018;47(5):334-338
Objective:
To investigate the clinicopathological features of FIGO stage Ⅰ uterine Müllerian adenosarcoma and clinical prognosis.
Methods:
Fifteen cases of uterine Müllerian adenosarcoma at FIGO stage Ⅰ were collected at PLA General Hospital from 2005 to 2017. Twelve cases with complete follow-up data were divided into 2 groups: group A (7 patients with survival) and group B(5 patients of death or tumor progression). Clinicopathologic features were compared between the two groups.
Results:
The median age of the patients was 43 years and 56 years, and the tumor size was 4.3 cm and 7.3 cm for group A and B, respectively. Cases in group A were FIGO ⅠA and ⅠB stage tumors and were mainly low grade in histology (5/7) with rare tumor hemorrhagec, necrosis (1/7) and sarcomatous overgrowth. In contrast, most cases in group B were high grade sarcomas(3/5) with frequent hemorrhage, necrosis(3/5) and sarcomatous overgrowth(4/5). Most cases of group A expressed ER, PR and CD10 (6/7) and low Ki-67 index of ≤20%(5/7). While most group B cases lost expression of ER and PR (3/5), significantly reduced expression of CD10 and higher Ki-67 index of ≥30%(4/5).
Conclusions
Most of uterine adenosarcomas are of low malignant potential. The main prognostic indicator is advanced tumor stage. For patients at stage Ⅰ, sarcomatous overgrowth, high-grade histology, deep myometrial invasion, decreased or absent expression of CD10, ER and PR, increased Ki-67 index(≥30%) and hemorrhagic necrosis may indicate poor prognosis. Müllerian adenosarcomas arising from endomeriosis may present unusual growth patterns.

Chinese Acupuncture & Moxibustion 2014;34(7):641-645
OBJECTIVETo compare the differences in the clinical efficacy between Guan's quadruple therapy for kidney disease and the conventional western medication in the treatment of chronic renal failure (CRF).
METHODSEighty patients were randomized into an observation group and a control group, 40 cases in each one. In the observation group, besides the physician instruction of low protein and low phosphorus diet in the two groups, Guan's quadruple therapy for kidney disease was applied, including (1) the isolated herbal moxibustion at Shenshu (BL 23) and Pishu (BL 21), or Ganshu (BL 18), Zusanli (ST 36) and Guanyuan (CV 4) alternatively; (2) acupuncture at the auricular points such as shen (CO10), jiaogan (AHR6), Shenshangxian (TG2), fei (CO14) and pizhixia (AT4); (3) injection of mixture of astragalus injection and lidocaine injection at Feishu (BL 13), Pishu (BL 21), Shenshu (BL 23) and the others; (4) modified Shenshuai Yihao decoction according to syndrome differentiation. In the control group, the conventional western medication was used. After 6 months of treatment, the differences were observed between the two groups in the clinical efficacy, serum creatinine (Scr), blood urea nitrogen (BUN), endogenous creatinine (Ccr) and 24 h urine protein quantitation (UPQ).
RESULTSIn the observation group, after treatment, the remarkably effective rate was 50.0% (20/40) and the total effective rate was 82.5% (33/40), which were superior to 25.0% (10/40) and 45.0% (18/40) in the control group (both P < 0.05). After treatment, the levels of Scr, BUN and 24 h UPQ were reduced apparently (all P < 0.05), and the level of Ccr was increased apparently in the two groups (both P < 0.05). After treatment, the levels of Scr, BUN and 24 h UPQ were reduced much more apparently in the observation group as compared with those in the control group (all P < 0.05).
CONCLUSIONGuan's quadruple therapy for kidney disease achieves a better efficacy on CRF compared with the conventional western medication. This therapy improves renal functions, relieves clinical symptoms and physical signs and benefits the life quality of patients.
