Object High overlap of data window is essential to improve axial resolution in elastogaphy. However, correlated errors in displacement estimates increase dramatically with the increase of the overlap, and generate the so-called "worm" artifacts. This paper presents a wavelet shrinkage de-noising in strain estimates to reduce the worm artifacts at high overlap. Methods Each of axial strain A-lines was decomposed using discrete wavelet transformation up to 3 levels. The high frequency components of every levels of wavelet coefficients were quantified by using soft threshold function according to different adaptive thresholds. Then the discrete wavelet reconstruction were performed to produce a wavelet shrinkage denoised strain line. Results The simulation results illustrated that the presented technique could efficiently denoise worm artifacts and enhance the elastogram performance indices such as elastographic SNRe and CNRe. Elastogram obtained by wavelet denoising had the closest correspondence with ideal strain image. In addition, the results also demonstrated that wavelet shrinkage de-noising applied in strain estimates could obtain better image quality parameters than that apphed in displacement estimates. The elastic phantom experiments also showed the similar elastogram performance improvement. Conclusion Wavelet shrinkage de-noising can efficiently denoise the worm artifacts noise of elastogram and improve the performance indices of elastogram while maintaining the high axial resolution.

The current evaluation for scientific and technological achievements and innovation is mainly based on novelty retrieval report conducted by professional organizations. However, such retrieval could not measure the actual value of a scientific and technological achievements comprehensively, such as the practicality and economic value of the outcome;and possibility to be adopted by industry, etc.Current study, from the application aspective, was trying to evaluate the scientific and technological achievements using effectiveness appraisal theory, which emphasis on pre-ethical assessment, demand and adoption assessment, and economic value assessment. It reveals the special phenomenon that that the outcome of innovation may decay over time, however, the effectiveness of innovation would enhance over time. This study also designed a mathematical model and the empirical use.

Objective To analyze diagnostic experience of children with anomalous origin of the left coronary artery from the pulmonary artery (ALCAPA) and assess its surgical results. Methods Six children with ALCAPA had been diagnosed in our hospital from Mar. 2006 to Oct.2007 aged from 6 months to 10 years old(median 43.5 months). The medical data included common clinical presentations, the findings of electrocardiogram(ECG),the echocardiogram,ECG-gated 64-slice computed tomography, the digital subtraction angiogram (DSA),surgical records and the outcome. Results Diaphoresis, fantod, breathlessness and difficult feeding were commonly presented in 5 cases ALCAPA and the 5 children presented with left ventricular failure in infancy. The predominant ECG findings were Q waves and ST segment changes in the anterolateral chest leads in 4 cases,ST changes in 1 case, and normal ECG in 1 case.Cross-sectional echocardiography showed dilated left ventricles with poor contractility in 4 cases, medium mitral regurgitation in 2 cases and severe mitral regurgitation in 2 cases, aneurysmal dilatation of the right coronary artery(RCA) in 2 cases.CT and DSA examinations showed characteristic changes in these children. The surgical reestablishment of a two-coronary system was performed in 5 cases, direct reimplantation in 2 cases and creation of an autologous extrapulmonary tunnel in 3 cases.Simultaneous mitral annuloplasty was performed in 2 cases. After operation, the symptoms of 5 cases were all improved and none died. Conclusions Understanding the clinical manifestations and lab findings of ALCAPA is helpful to making an early diagnosis of ALCAPA.Early surgical treatment can improve the patients′ outcome.

Objective To explore the clinical manifestations of toxic epidermal necrolysis(TEN) and its rare pulmonary complications. Methods Clinical symptoms, treatment and prognosis of 1 child with TEN caused by carbamazepine were analyzed.Radiological images were reviewed to evaluate the manifestations and the outcome of chronic pulmonary complications associated with TEN.Results The patient had high fever shortly after a dosage increment of carbamazepine.A confluent erythematous exanthema developed rapidly into painful blistering with skin erosion, denudation and involvement of conjunctive and oropharyngeal mucosa. The diagnosis of TEN was made. The mucocutaneous damage was gradually recovered with steroid plus intravenous immunoglobulin for 3 weeks. However, the patient presented with respiratory failure in the recovery phase of TEN.The computer tomography revealed pulmonary bullae and pneumothorax in the right lung.Lung parenchyma was squeezed and pulmonary bullae ruptured with pneumothorax and atelectasis, which were absorbed gradually through thoracic drainages. The patient′s lung function and pulmonary bullae were partly improved during a 7-month follow-up.Conclusions TEN is a severe form of blistering skin di-sease which is characterized by an extensive loss of epidermis and mucous membrane.Chronic pulmonary complications may occur in recovery phase of TEN.Pulmonary bullae, which might be caused by mucous damage and respiratory obstruction,is a rare complication of TEN.

The biological mineralization, which widely occurs in the nature.is a biological mineralization process. The remarkable characteristic of biological mineralization is that organic substances play template function for the inorganic materials formation. The resulted inorganic materials have definite shape.size and texture;it is well-known that biominerals are distinguished by a complexity of form well-suited to their functions. The formation of inorganic materials with special structure and properties is controlled by organic templates through biomimetic synthesis.Polymer iS one of the most applicable organic templates which control the nucleation, growth, and alignment of inorganic particles to produce Organic, inorganic hybrids with multistep architecture, special morphology and good properties in mild conditions. The progress of polymer application in biomimetic syntIlesis is reviewed.Problems and a perspective in this research field are alSO discussed

Objective To explore the effects of AP on pulmonary fibrosis. Methods Alveolar macrophages (AM) were treated by AP for 24 hours. Pulmonary fibroblasts (FB) were cultured with the supernatant of AM medium. The protein of transforming growth factor beta 1 (TGF-?1) of AM, the proliferative activity and hydroxyproline (Hyp) content of FB were examined. Rats were treated with AP by intratracheal instillation and sacrificed at 3 days. The TGF-?1 mRNA content in the lung was examined. Results The positive staining macrophages in low and high AP groups and the quantity of TGF-?1 in high AP group were obviously higher than those in the control group (P

Objective:To investigate the knowledge of hand-cleaning in student nurses, cultivate their awareness of washing hands, improve their submitting of washing hands and standardize their washing procedure,so as to reduce the hospital-acquired infection via hands. Methods: A self-designed questionnaire on hand-cleaning-related knowledge was used to survey 100 student nurses in their clinical practice in our hospital. Results:In the 100 questionnaires, some student nurses have poor-mastering of the signs of hand-cleaning,and have indefinite concepts of the time, position and frequency of hand-cleaning.The most frequently forgotten part of hands cleaning is finger(42%),the second is wrist(29%).Lots of student nurses(92%) mistakingly thought that washing hands with warm water was much better. Conclusion:The student nurses had relatively poor knowledge on hand-cleaning,much more attention should be paid on the education of this aspect by nursing department,in order to improve self-protection and control of hospital-acquired infection effectively.
