3.Statistical analysis of papers in Chinese Journal of Applied Physiology from 2009 to 2013.

OBJECTIVETo analyze the status and papers information of Chinese Journal of Applied Physiology, and provide a guide for authors, readers and editing staffs.
METHODSWe retrieved papers of Chinese Journal of Applied Physiology from 2009 to 2013 from CNKI, and performed a statistical analysis of papers information contained in the text using bibliometrics method. Papers information such as document type, found support, author affiliation type, and discipline classification, etc. was analyzed.
RESULTSSeven hundred and forty two papers including 27 full English articles in total were published in Chinese Journal of Applied Physiology from 2009 to 2013. More papers were supported by national, provincial, and the other foundation, it was about 82.6% of all papers.
CONCLUSIONChinese Journal of Applied Physiology has stable manuscript resources, various discipline papers, and play an important role for development of applied physiology in China.

4.Chemical constituents from the bioactive extract of Chuanminshen violaceum

AIM: To study the chemical components from the bioactive extract of Chuanminshen violaceum Sheh et Shan in Sichuan province. METHODS: The isolation and purification of this extract were conducted by means of silica gels column chromatography.The structures of the compounds were elucidated based on their physical,chemical features and spectrum data. RESULTS: 8 compounds were isolated from the extract.They were elucidated as hexadecanoic Acid(A),2,6-dimethoxybenzoic acid(B),succinic acid (C),combination of sigmasterol and sitosterol(1(∶)1)(D),chrysophanol(E),8-hydroxy-5-methoxypsoralen(F),4-hydroxy-3-methoxybenzoic acid(G) and stigmasteryl 3-O-?-D-glucopyranoside(H). CONCLUSION: Compounds B,C,E,G were isolated from Chuanminshen violaceum for the first time.
5.1H NMR based metabonomics study on the antidepressant effect of genipin in rat hippocampus.

The purpose of this study is to explore depression metabolic markers in rat hippocampus and to investigate the anti-depressant effect of genipin and its mechanisms using nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) metabonomics. Chronic unpredictable mild stress (CUMS) procedure was conducted to establish the depressive rat model. At the beginning of the third week, genipin low dose (25 mg x kg(-1)), middle dose (50 mg x kg(-1)), high dose (100 mg x kg(-1)), and venlafaxine (50 mg x kg(-1)) were given to the CUMS rats separately once daily for two weeks except control and model groups. Rat hippocampus was analyzed by 1H NMR based metabonomics after drug administration for 2 weeks. Significant differences in the metabolic profile of rat hippocampus of the CUMS treated group and the control group were observed with metabolic effects of CUMS including decreasing in glycine and N-acetylaspartate, increasing in inositol, glutamate, lactate, glutamine, taurine and alanine. Genipin showed ideal antidepressive effects at a dose of 50 mg x kg(-1) in rats, decrease of inositol, glutamate, lactate, alanine were observed, while glycine and N-acetylaspartate were increased. Important influence has been found on normal nervous system function of these significant changed metabolites, which suggests that the antidepressant effect of genipin may be played by enhancing the activity of neurons in hippocampus, repairing and improving the function of the neuron. The metabonomics approach is an effective tool for the investigation of the anti-depressant effect and pharmacologic mechanisms of genipin.

6.Effect of Different Proportions of Mixed Blood Exchange Transfusion on Blood Internal Environment in Neonates with Hemolytic Disease

Objective To explore the effect of different proportions of mixed blood exchange transfusion on blood circulation in neonates with hemolytic disease.Methods Thirty-one newborn infants with hemolytic disease were treated by peripheral arteriovenous synchronization of exchange transfusion with different proportions mixed blood.AB type plasma was mixed with O type red blood cell(RBC) washing.The proportion for the treatment group was 1:1(the O type RBCs 2 U:the AB type plasma 200 mL),by exchange transfusion of haplotypes,in accordance with 80?mL/kg;the proportion for control group was 2:1(the O type RBC 4 U:the AB type plasma 200 mL),by exchange transfusion of double in accordance with 150-180 mL/kg.The indicators were detected,such as the exchange rate of neonatal serum bilirubin,RBC,hemoglobin(Hb),hematocrit(HCT),and the exchange transfusion quantity and days of hospitalization before and after the exchange transfusion were analyzed.Results The exchange rate of serum bilirubin of treatment group and control group was (44.92?3.99)% and (45.69?5.06)%,respectively,there was no significant difference between 2 groups(P=0.639),there was no significant difference of hospitalization days[(8.13?1.13) d vs(8.19?0.91) d]between 2 groups(P=0.884).After exchange transfusion in treatment group,the average level of the RBC,Hb and HCT were increased(P
7.Analysis on the published papers and cited papers carried in four Chinese core journals of physiology.

AIMThe situation of four Chinese core journals of physiology was summarized. The article also analyzed the deficiency of the periodical in order to provide better service for readers.
METHODSLiterature metrology method was used to analyze the published papers and cited papers carried in four Chinese core journals of physiology.
RESULTSThe quantity of published papers in Chinese journal of Applied Physiology was higher than that in Acta Physiologica Sinica and Progress in Physiological Sciences but was lower than that in Chinese Journal of Pathophysiology. In 2006, the funding ratio was 61.6%, but was lower than the others'. The impact factor assumed the increasing tendency, but was still lower than the others'. The paper's number and total frequency in periodical which was quoted, was as much as Acta Physiologica Sinica and Progress in Physiological Sciences, but was lower than those in Chinese Journal of Pathophysiology. The rate of high frequency paper quoted was 50%, was higher than the others'.
CONCLUSIONThe Chinese Journal of Applied Physiology has obtained some achievement since publication, but we also find the distance of funding ratio and impact factor compared with other congeneric journals. In summary, we shall try our best to make progress.

8.Cleavage of HCV by HCV specific deoxyribozyme in vitro.

OBJECTIVETo study the cleavage activity of specific deoxyribozyme to hepatitis C virus in vitro.
METHODSThree deoxyribozymes were designed to cleave at sites 157, 168, 173 in HCV 5'-noncoding region with the active region of 5'-GGCTAGCTACAACGA-3' respectively. Plasmid pCMV/T7-NCRC -Delta Luc was completely linearized with restriction endonuclease Xba I. HCV RNA5'-NCRC was transcribed in vitro from the linearized products and radiolabelled with [alpha-32P] UTP. Under the conditions of 37 degrees C, pH7.5, Mg2+ 10 mmol/L, the three deoxyribozymes were mixed with substrate RNA individually for 120 minutes and then the reactions were terminated. The cleavaged products were separated with 8% denaturated polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis and displayed by autoradiography. DRz3 was mixed with the substrate RNA at different Mg2+ concentrations. The cleavage efficiency was analyzed with a gel document action analyzing systems.
RESULTSUnder the adopted conditions the three deoxyribozymes efficiently cleaved to the target RNA in vitro and the cleavage activity of DRz3 was increased with the increase of Mg2+ concentration.
CONCLUSIONThe designed deoxyribozymes can cleave 5'-NCR mRNA of HCV efficiently in vitro and it is dose-respondent to Mg2+ concentration.

9.Primary gastric endocrine tumors.

OBJECTIVETo study the clinicopathological features of gastric neuroendocrine tumors.
METHODSTwenty cases were reviewed. The specimens were formalin-fixed, paraffin-embedded and immunostained by S-P method.
RESULTSAmong the twenty cases, one case was carcinoid, three were malignant carcinoids, six had small cell carcinomas and ten had mixed extocrine--endocrine carcinomas. Immunohistological examination of tumor cells found 80% positive for S-100, NSE (85%), CgA (50%), SY (50%), gastrin (30%), serotonin (65%), AE1/AE3 (50%), and CEA (80%).
CONCLUSIONSIn the WHO classification, there are five histological types in endocrine tumors of gastrointestinal tract. They are carcinoid, malignant carcinoid, small cell carcinoma, mixed exocrine--endocrine carcinoma and tumor-like lesions. But some cases in our paper were so different that they could not be classified. The gastric endocrine tumors are different from intestinal endocrine tumors and in classification, treatment and prognosis.

10.Characteristics of developmental regression in autistic children.

OBJECTIVEAbout 30% of autistic cases experience developmental regression around 2 years of age. The clinical course and manifestations of autistic children with regression remain unclear. This study investigated the clinical features of a group of autistic children with regression.
METHODSOne hundred and fifty-two children at ages of 2.5-6.5 years confirmed with autism based on DSM-IV diagnostic criteria were enrolled. They were grouped according to language development: normal or regression. The perinatal history, developmental history and characteristics of regression were investigated. The symptoms were compared between the two groups.
RESULTSRegressions were observed in 33 children (21.7%) at age of between 16 and 21 months, with loss both in communicative skills and social engagement. The regressive group was scored significantly higher on the Childhood Autism Rating Scale (CARS) (P<0.05) and had a relatively higher proportion of severely ill children (66.7% vs 45.4%; P<0.05)compared with the non-regressive group.
CONCLUSIONSRegression as a characteristic symptom occurs in some autistic children and is of value for diagnosis of autism. The autistic children with regression display more severe social and language impairments than those without regression. Regressive autism may be a special subtype.
