Sperm DNA fragmentation index (DFI) refers to the percentage of DNA strand breaks in the total sperm. Many studies suggest that elevated DFI can lead to male infertility and early spontaneous abortion. High-DFI patients are more likely to fail in assisted reproduction and preliminary treatment or prevention methods have been developed for this population. This review focuses on the impact of DFI on clinical pregnancy outcomes and progress in the studies of its treatment.

Objective To extract high quality genomic DNA of Cordia dicholoma seeds by using different methods; To provide references for researches on genomic DNA of Cordia dicholoma seeds. Methods Genomic DNA of Cordia dicholoma seeds was extracted through improved CTAB method and improved SDS method. Purity and concentration of obtained DNA were detected by spectrophotometry and agarose gel electrophoresis. Results The results of spectrophotometry showed that the purity of genomic DNA obtained through improved CTAB method was better than improved SDS method. Genomic DNA extracted through improved CTAB method was without protein and RNA pollution. The results of agarose gel electrophoresis showed that electrophoresis of genomic DNA obtained through the two methods both had the main belt. However, genomic DNA extracted through improved SDS method degraded more than improved CTAB method. Conclusion Improved CTAB method can obtain relatively high quality genomic DNA of Cordia dicholoma seeds.

Aim: To establish an analytical method for the simultaneous determination of norfloxacin, ofloxacin, pefloxacin, ciprofloxacin, lomefloxacin, danofloxacin, enrofloxacin, sarafloxacin and difloxacin in eggs using solid-phase extraction-LC-MS/MS.Methods: Egg samples were deproteinized with acetonitrile, followed by defatting with hexane. Then the samples were processed by solid-phase extraction and analyzed by LC-MS/MS using an electrospray source. The separation was carried out on a Shimadzu Shim-pack VP-ODS C_(18) column, with a mobile phase consisting of acetonitrile-0.1% formic acid(13: 87).Results: The validated method was proved to be of high specificity, accuracy and sensitivity. Conclusion: The established method is suitable for the routine residual monitoring of fluoroquinolones.

OBJECTIVE:To optimize the water extraction technology of Punica granatum peel and flowers in Muzha supposito-ry. METHODS:Using total tannin, ellagic acid contents as evaluation indexes, extration time, times, the amount of solvents as in-vestigation factors,L9(34)orthogonal test was adopted to optimize the water extraction technology of P. granatum flowers and peel. And verification test was conducted. RESULTS:The optimal extraction technology of total tannin and ellagic acid in P. granatum peel and flowers was as follow as 10-fold water reflux extraction for 3 times with 2 herbs,0.5 h every time. The average content of total tannin and ellagic acid extracted from 3 batches of herbs was 151.69 mg/g (RSD=1.15%,n=3),24.59 mg/g (RSD=1.41%,n=3)in the verification test, respectively. CONCLUSIONS:The optimized extraction technology is stable, feasible, and can be used for extracting the total tannin and ellagic acid in P. granatum peel and flowers.

Objective To evaluate the role of the short-segment transpedicular instrumentation and fusion in the treatment of thoracic and lumbar spine unstable fractures. Methods We reviewed 121 patients of thoracic and lumbar vertebral fractures treated by short-segment transpedicular instrumentation (attachment of one level above the fracture to one level below the fracture) by using an AO Universal Spine System (USS), plus posterolateral fusion by using autogenous iliac crest bone graft. Results Out of the 121 cases, 104 had been followed clinically, radiographically, and functionally for 12 to 72 months (mean 31.3 months). Follow-up observations showed that, 101 patients (97.1%) had neurological function improvement more than one Frankel grade (3 no change), the average loss of vertebral body height basically reversed to normal (mean 58.3% preoperatively versus mean 3.2% postoperatively, with mean loss of 2.1% in follow-up), and the kyphotic angles were basically corrected (mean 29?preoperatively versus mean 3.4?postoperatively, with mean loss of 3.4?in follow-up). Conclusions The short-segment transpedicular instrumentation and fusion can provide excellent reduction and fixation, indirect decompression, and stabilization for unstable thoracic and lumbar fractures. The USS may be effectively employed in the short-segment fixation of thoracic and lumbar fractures.[

Objective To investigate the left ventricular (LV) performance in patients with essential hypertension(EH) by global performance index (GPI) based on three-dimensional speckle tracking imaging (3D-STI).Methods A total of 164 EH patients were enrolled and divided into four subgroups according to LV configuration:LV normal group (LVN,n =67),concentric cardiac remodeling group (CCR,n =49),concentric cardiac hypertrophy group (CCH,n =28) and eccentric cardiac hypertrophy group (ECH,n =20).Thirty age and sex matched healthy volunteers were enrolled as controls.3D-STI was performed to assess LV 3D global strain and LV torsion, then LV systolic dyssynchrony index (SDI) and global performance index (GPI) were calculated.Global strain parameters were investigated among the groups, and correlations with GPI were studied. Results GPI,global longitudinal strain(GLS),global area strain(GAS),global radial strain(GRS) and global 3D strain(G3DS) in EH groups were respectively lower than those in the normal controls, and there were statistical differences among the respective parameters (P <0.05,respectively).SDI in group CCH and ECH were significantly higher than that in normal controls (P < 0.05,respectively).In multivariate stepwise regression analysis,GAS was the most influential to GPI.Conclusions GPI based on 3D-STI may accurately reflect LV performance in patients with EH,and has potential applications in clinical practice.

Objective To investigate the diagnostic value of serum brain natriuretic peptide(BNP)in chron-ic cor pulmonale of different period. Methods According to the inclusion criteria,we recruited 216 cases from heart and respiratory medicine(including outpatients and inpatients)of Qingyuan People 's Hosptial from April 2013 to December 2014.All the cases were divided into healthy control group(group A,n =48),cor pulmonale heart function compensatory period group(group B,n =43),cor pulmonale right heart failure group(group C,n =45),the simple left heart failure group(D group,n =40)and the whole heart failure group(group E,n =40).The serum BNP value,pul-monary function, echocardiography were detected. We compared the differences amomg them with correlation analysis, and drew the ROC curves to obtain the best cutoff point. Results The BNP value was higher in group C(495.44 ± 219.90)ng/L than group B[(182.44 ±69.71)ng/L,P <0.001],while the value was higher in group D(882.57 ± 288.56)ng/L and E(891.78 ±256.45)ng/L than group C(P <0.001).In cor pulmonale groups,BNP was positive-ly correlated with RV,RVOT,and PASP,negatively correlated with FEV1 ,and not correlated with LVEF %.In group D and E,BNP was negatively correlated with LVEF %.The best cutoff point of BNP was 285.3ng/L between cor pul-monale heart function compensatory period group(group B)and cor pulmonale right heart failure group(group C). The best cutoff point of BNP was 764.2ng/L between cor pulmonale right heart failure group(group C)and the whole heart failure group(group E).Conclusion There is certain correlation between serum BNP level and the progress of chronic cor pulmonale.Dynamic monitoring of serum BNP level in the judgement of treating cor pulmonale is of certain reference significance.
