Objective To evaluation of curative effect of Yiqi-Wenshen decoction combined with salmon calcitonin subcutaneous injection for the patients with postoperative bone atrophy after calcaneal fracture. Methods According to the inclusion criteria, 120 patients with calcaneal fracture were randomly divided into 2 groups, 60 in each group. The control group received the subcutaneous injection of salmon calcitonin, and the combined group received the control group treatment plus Yiqi-Wenshen decoction. Both groups were treated for 6 weeks. The X-ray was used to detecte the local bone density of limbs, and the foot function scores of ankle function and the changes of clinical symptoms and signs before and after treatment were observed. Results After treatment, joint pain (2.8 ± 1.1vs. 3.6 ± 1.1,t=4.129), tenderness (1.0 ± 0.5vs. 1.4 ± 0.7,t=3.297), the color change of (1.5 ± 0.8vs. 2.0 ± 0.6,t=3.117) score in the combined group were significantly lower than those in the control group (P<0.05). The degree of swelling (112.5 ± 11.8 cm3vs. 122.5 ± 13.6 cm3,t=3.816) in the combined group was significantly lower than that in control group (P<0.05). The bone mineral density (0.762 ± 0.020 g/cm2vs. 0.722 ± 0.023 g/cm2,t=3.803,P<0.05) in the combined group was significantly higher than that in the control group. The effect rate of the combined group was 90% (54/60), and the control group was 70%. There was significant difference between 2 groups (χ2=7.500,P=0.006). The effect rate of ankle joint function of the combined group was 83.3% (50/60), and the control group was 70% (42/60). There was significant difference between 2 groups (χ2=4.444,P=0.035).Conclusions The Yiqi-Wenshen decoction combined with subcutaneous injection of salmon calcitonin could relieve the pain, swelling and other symptoms of the patients with bone atrophy after calcaneal fractures, and could benefit the recovery of ankle joint function.

Objective To improve the recognition of various CT appearances of hepatoblastoma(HB) and evaluate the role of CT in diagnosis. Method In a total of 24 cases, abdominal scan was performed. In 12 of them contrast enhanced CT was available. The CT manifestions of the 24 HB cases were retrospectively analyzed and correlated with clinical pathological findings. Results Fourteen tumors involved the right lobe, 4 tumors involved the left lobe, and 6 both liver lobes. One case invaded the liver diffusely. Most of HB appeared as an intrahepatic well circumscribed round or lobulated solid mass with or without pseudocapsule.Three of them manifested as multiple nodules and distributed in one or both liver lobes.Exophytic growing of tumor was seen in 7 cases. The tumor mass usually exhibited inhomogeneous density and heterogeneous enhancement, some associated with reticular and curvilinear density.Peripheral rim enhancement was present in 3 cases.Calcified foci were found in 6 cases. The hepatic parenchyma outside the tumor was normal in all cases. Two subdiaphragmatic and greater omentum tumor infiltrations could not be found on CT scan. Rare findings included tumor thrombus in one case in IVC, lymphnode metastasis in one case. Conclusion The various CT patterns described in this study are helpful in recognizing and evaluating the prognosis of HB.CT scan could acurately localize and characterize the mass, while not always correct in tumor staging.

Objective To explore the clinical manifestations of toxic epidermal necrolysis(TEN) and its rare pulmonary complications. Methods Clinical symptoms, treatment and prognosis of 1 child with TEN caused by carbamazepine were analyzed.Radiological images were reviewed to evaluate the manifestations and the outcome of chronic pulmonary complications associated with TEN.Results The patient had high fever shortly after a dosage increment of carbamazepine.A confluent erythematous exanthema developed rapidly into painful blistering with skin erosion, denudation and involvement of conjunctive and oropharyngeal mucosa. The diagnosis of TEN was made. The mucocutaneous damage was gradually recovered with steroid plus intravenous immunoglobulin for 3 weeks. However, the patient presented with respiratory failure in the recovery phase of TEN.The computer tomography revealed pulmonary bullae and pneumothorax in the right lung.Lung parenchyma was squeezed and pulmonary bullae ruptured with pneumothorax and atelectasis, which were absorbed gradually through thoracic drainages. The patient′s lung function and pulmonary bullae were partly improved during a 7-month follow-up.Conclusions TEN is a severe form of blistering skin di-sease which is characterized by an extensive loss of epidermis and mucous membrane.Chronic pulmonary complications may occur in recovery phase of TEN.Pulmonary bullae, which might be caused by mucous damage and respiratory obstruction,is a rare complication of TEN.

To reveal the colonization characteristics in host of endophytic biocontrol bacteria NJ13 isolated from Panax ginseng, this study obtained the marked strain NJ13-R which was double antibiotic resistant to rifampicin and streptomycin through enhancing the method of inducing antibiotic. The colonization characteristics in ginseng and its biocontrol efficiency against Alternaria spot of ginseng in the field were studied. The results showed that the strain could colonize in root, stem and leaf of ginseng and the colonization amount was positive correlated with inoculation concentration. Meanwhile, the strain could infect and then transfer in different tissues of ginseng The colonization amount of strain in roots and leaves of ginseng increased first and then decreased. However, the tendency of colonization amount of strain in stems was ascend at first and then descend slowly, and was more than that in roots and leaves along with time, which had a preference to specific tissue of its host. In field experiment, the endophytic bacteria NJ13 was proved to be effective in controlling Alternaria leaf spot of ginseng. The biocontrol efficiency of fermentation broth at the concentration of 0.76 x 10(8) cfu x mL(-1) reached 75.62%, which was close to the controlling level (73.06%) of 0.67 mg x L(-1) 50% cyprodinil WG.
