Acta Nutrimenta Sinica 1956;0(01):-
Objective and Methods:The scavenging effects of the extracts, phycocyanin and polysaccharose from Spirulina platensis (S.P) or from selenium enriched S.P (Se-S.P), and sodium _ selenite on superoxide anions( O2? )and hydroxyl radicals (?OH) were investigated respectively with chemoluminescence technique. Results:The extract, Se-phycocyanin and Se-polysaccharose from Se-S.P had higher scavenging effect on both kinds of active oxygen radicals than those from S.P and the scavenging _ rates of extract on O2 ? and ?OH were enhanced about 30%and 20% at a concentration of 400?g/ml.Those effects of Se-phycocyanin were characterized dose-dependently and the concentration of 50% scavenging rate on superoxide anions was above 500 ?g/ml. With increase of the concentration of Se-phycocyanin, the scavenging rate on ?OH was elevated steadily and 50% scavenging rate was found at protein concentration above 125?g/ml. The scavenging effect of the Se-polysaccharides on oxygen free radicals was more _ noticeable and the concentration for 50% scavenging rate on ?OH and O2 ? were 60 ?g/ml and 12 ?g/ml _ respectively. However, there was no evidenced scavenging effect of sodium selenite on both ?OH and O2 ? . Conclusion : The active organic Se-containing molecules such as Se-containing proteins and Se polysaccharides, which were produced by selenium metabolism in microalgae, might contribute to the scavenging effects of Se enriched S.P. on oxygen free radicals.

Objective:To investigate the characteristics of magnetic resonance imaging and clinical application of multi-modality magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) for evaluating the response of neoadjuvant chemotherapy (NACT) in inflammatory breast cancer (IBC).Methods:A total of 36 IBC patients were enrolled in the study. The morphological, hemodynamic and diffusion-weighted imaging features of MRI were analyzed. Eleven patients underwent MRI examination before and after NAT. The imaging changes were analyzed and the efficacy of NACT was evaluated. Results:There were 38 identified breast carcinoma in these 36 cases, among which abnormal skin thickening and enhancement, extensive edema was found in 37 breast lesions. Enhancement of breast lesions in 25 cases was non-mass-like enhancement. Diffusion limitation was found in all lesions. The number of vessels in affected side was more than that in healthy side in MIP images. Thirty three cases had axillary lymph node enlargement. The sensitivity and specificity of MRI in evaluating residual breast tumors and vascular thrombus were high, but the evaluation of axillary lymph nodes was relatively low.Conclusions:Multi-modal MRI can be used for early and accurate diagnosis of IBC. It can also be used to predict and evaluate the effect of neoadjuvant chemotherapy.

Objective To investigate the cerebral vascular autoregulation in patients with mitochondrial encephalomyopathy with lactic acidosis and strokc-like episodes (MELAS) during the remission of stroke-like episodes, including cerebrovascular CO2 reactivity and vascular endothelial function. Methods Twenty-nine MELAS patients confirmed by genetic analysis were recruited in this study. They underwent the examination at least 2 weeks after the onset of last stroke-like episode.Twenty-eight healthy people were collcctcd as healthy controls. Carotid ultrasound and brain magnetic resonance angiogram (MRA) were done to evaluate the cervical and intracranial appearance of large arteries. Evaluation of vascular autoregulation included: (1) the cerebrovascular CO2 reactivity with breath-holding test by transcranial Doppler and calculating breath holding index (BHI),and ( 2 ) flow-mediatcd dilation ( FMD )and nitroglycerin-mediated dilation with ultrasound assessment of humeral artery.Independent-samples t test was done between the results of two groups. Results Carotid ultrasound and cranial MRA revealed no abnormalities in both MELAS patients and healthy controls. The BHI of MELAS patients was significantly decreased than that of normal controls ( 1.36 ± 0.52 vs 1.81 ±0.26,t =- 3.693,P < 0.01 ),and the FMD of MELAS patients was also significantly lower than that of normal controls (11.0% ±4.8% vs 15.8% ±5.8%,t =-3.390,P <0.01).Conclusion The function of vascular autoregulation, including cerebrovascular CO2 reactivity and FMD,is impaired in MELAS patients.

OBJECTIVETo investigate the changes between pressure of trochlea of talus surface and distribution of area after anterior lower tibiofibular ligament rupture, and provide basis for treating anterior lower tibiofibular ligament rupture.
METHODSSix fresh adult ankle joint specimens (4 males and 2 females, ranging age from 25 to 60 years, with an average of 44.6 years) were adopted. The specimens were removed from skin and muscles, remained ankle joint capsule, medial and lateral ligaments and anteroinferior tibiofibular ligament. The ankle joint was fixed with a special fixture in neutral position. Pressure sensitive film (700 N axial load ) was respectively used to measure mean pressure, peak pressure and stress distribution area of the upper articular facet of talar trochlea of the normal ankle joint and the ankle joint with anterioinferior tibiofibular ligament rupture.
RESULTSThe stress distribution areas of the control group and the ruptured group were respectively (367.8 +/- 54.0) mm2 and (386.0 +/- 53.7) mm2; the mean pressures were respectively (1.40 +/- 0.12) MPa and (1.70 +/- 0.35) MPa; the peak pressures were respectively (2.60 +/- 0.33) MPa and (3.20 +/- 0.32) MPa. The experimental results showed that the change in stress distribution area after anterioinferior tibiofibular ligament rupture was not significant (t = 0.021, P = -0.983). When stress distribution changed, the region of stress concentration transferred to poster lateral, and mean pressure (t = 4.140, P = 0.020) and peak pressure (t = 3.169, P = 0.010) increased significantly.
CONCLUSIONWhen anterior lower tibiofibular ligament rupture occurs, mean pressure, peak pressure and stress distribution of pressure of trochlea of talus surface is changed, which may cause traumatic arthritis, and surgical treatment is considerably used to restore normal anatomy.
