Objective To observe the growth characteristic of bulge-originated cells from human hair follicles in vitro. Methods The bulges which were isolated from human hair follicles by dispase and microdissection were cultured. The morphological and biological characteristic of the cultured bulge cells were observed by light microscopy and immunocytochemistry (ICC). Results Proliferated cells could be observed in the second day after being inoculated. The number of these cells, with greater proliferation potential, reached the peak at the sixth day and maintain several days. In addition, the mitotic figures appeared and the cells behave the similar morphologic features, meanwhile the cells strongly expressed K19 and showed a descensive tendency in long-time growth.Conclusion The cultured bulge cells kept the primitive characteristic, which suggested that the putative follicle stem cells resided in the bulge area.;

Journal of Shanghai Jiaotong University(Medical Science) 2006;0(04):-
The ultimate goal of post-genome research is to understand a complete set of proteins in a living organism for their expression pattern and biological function,which is called proteomics.One of the major challenges in proteome research is to study the protein-protein interactions,and the emerging bioinformatics approaches present us tremendous advantages when dealing with protein interaction networking and data analysis.Useful bioinformatics tools include protein-protein interaction network mapping,topology of the network,structure of the module and comparison of the network.The technology advancement in this field brings further understandings to the structure and function of cells at the proteome level,which may eventually lead to the discovery of new drug targets and design methods.This paper attempts to review the current researches on protein-protein interaction with an emphasis on bioinformatics intervention,and also summarizes some widely used methods for network analysis.

Objective To investigate the effects of anticardiolipin antibodies positive serum from patients with recurrent pregnancy loss on the proliferation of BeWo cells as well as the modulation of heparin on the growth of BeWo cell.Methods Thirty patients with recurrent pregnancy loss whose anticardiolipin antibodies were positive and thirty healthy women with a history of term delivery were selected.Their sera were separately added to BeWo cell culture systems which contained either heparin or not.After 24 hours, the PCNA and 490 nm A value were detected by immunofluorescence and methyl thiazolyl tetrazolium (MTT),and the proliferation of BeWo cell was evaluated.Results In the culture systems with heparin and normal serum,normal serum,heparin and serum with positive autoantibody,serum with positive autoantibody,the mean fluorescence gray scale values of PCNA were 34.8?3.1,33.8?1.8,33.4?2.2 and 25.1?2.3,the 490 nm A values were 0.0560?0.0033,0.0535?0.0024,0.0524?0.0027 and 0.0350?0.0040,respectively.Conclusions The serum with anticardiolipin antibodies from patients with recurrent pregnancy loss can influence the prospective potency of BeWo cell,inhibit cell proliferation in vitro.Through this direct effect on biological behaviour of the trophoblastic cell,it will lead to recurrent pregnancy loss,whereas heparin can increase the ratio of pregnancy by reversing such effects in those patients.

PURPOSE: The prevalence of congenital heart anomalies is known to be higher in patients with clefts of the lip and/or palate(CL/P). The purpose of this study was to determine the prevalence and type of congenital heart anomalies in patients with CL/P. METHODS: We investigated congenital heart anomalies in 756 patients presented with CL/P from January 1986 to December 1997 by reviewing their clinical records. RESULTS: The prevalence rate of congenital heart anomalies in patients with CL/P was 4.2% (32 of 756). Congenital heart anomalies in those were ventricular septal defect (15 of 32), atrial septal defect (4 of 32), tetralogy of Fallot (3 of 32), patent ductus arteriosus (2 of 32), double outlet right ventricle(2 of 32), pulmonary stenosis (1 of 32), transposition of the great arteries (1 of 32), pulmonary atresia (1 of 32), coarctation of aorta (1 of 32), anomalous systemic venous drainage (1 of 32), and aortic aneurysm with patent ductus arteriosus (1 of 32). It was significant that the prevalence rate of congenital heart anomalies in cleft palate with or without cleft lip (CP+/-L) was 6.8% (30 of 442), because the prevalence rate of congenital heart anomalies in cleft lip alone was not higher than in normal population (0.6%; 2 of 314). Of the 30 patients with congenital heart anomalies, 12 patients (40 %) had conotruncal defects. CONCLUSION: The prevalence of congenital heart anomalies in patients with CP+/-L was much higher than normal population. Cardiac defects were predominantly conotruncal. Predominance of conotruncal defects among congenital heart anomalies in those was associated with abnormalities of neural crest cell proliferation and migration developing into conotruncus and palate.

9.The Effect of Vitamin D and Calcium on Cognitive Function and Depression in the Elderly Living in a City.
Journal of Korean Academy of Community Health Nursing 2017;28(3):251-259
PURPOSE: This study aims to examine the influence of vitamin D and calcium on depression and cognitive function of the elderly living alone in a city. METHODS: The participants were registered in eight senior centers in S city and they had lived alone. Data were collected between November 28, 2014 and March 7, 2015. A total of 155 people participated in data collection to measure the serum vitamin D, the serum calcium, depression, and cognitive function. The data were analyzed with t-test, ANOVA, Pearson's correlation and multiple regression analysis. RESULTS: There were significant differences in depression according to gender and perceptions of health status. Depression correlated significantly with the serum calcium and perceptions of health status, and a stepwise regression analysis showed that the perceptions of health status were significant. There were significant differences in cognitive function according to education level and age. Cognitive function correlated significantly with the serum vitamin D and a stepwise regression analysis showed that education level and age were significant. CONCLUSION: Consequently, elderly people with poor perceptions of their health status need a depressive intervention program and those with a higher age and lower level of education need a cognitive function intervention program.

Korean Journal of Dermatology 1999;37(6):798-800
Lichen aureus is a variant of pigmented purpuric lichenoid dermatitis. The skin lesions usually appear asymptomatic rusty, copper, or orange colored roundish lichenoid erythematous-purpuric papules and patches on the lower extremities. Histologically, the epidermis shows minimal changes, with a dense lymphohistiocytic infiltrate observed in the superficial derrnis, typically distributed in a band-like fashion. The typical lesion is a single patch localized on the lower extremity. We report a rare case of segmental lichen aureus localized on the right lower extremity.
